  1. If I understand your post correctly, you are getting married at your departure port and then are taking a TA to Europe. I don't understand why you would take your dress with you, and then have to haul it around Europe.

Do you have someone who could take it back with them, or can you arrange to have it shipped back? It will really be a pain if it's heavy to carry it around the rest of your trip.

No. I am sorry I wasn't more specific. We are not getting married on departure day. It will only be the two of us. Since we are doing our ceremony at sea i must bring the dress. I am feeling more confident about packing it after wearing it on the ship into a box to carry on. I will not ship anything from Europe after past experience.

    Thank you for your reply

  2. I wanted to start a wedding thread that reflects my experiences with planning my shipboard wedding with less than 100 days until we sail. I did not plan on having a shipboard wedding, but life happens and at this point in time we have decided a cruise ship wedding will be the best for us. We will have a reception a few weeks after returning home. Our wedding cruise was intended to be our honeymoon cruise. We are sailing a TA to Europe and then have planned a land vacation in Rome before returning to Denver.

I have signed, dated, scanned and emailed the contract back to Royal Romance. This was Monday (a bank holiday) and am patiently waiting a call back. Was advised by another lady (have not yet had the pleasure of speaking to same person twice) it will probably be sometime early next week when RR calls to confirm and accept payment for our package.

We are choosing the symbolic ceremony as we will obtain our state license and file it before we leave. We are also purchasing the cake.

    The Dress

Already having purchased THE dress that is large and satin with delicate embellishments I became alarmed at how to get the dress to the ship and then around Europe without losing my mind or the dress..

We have already booked Southwest Airlines. I emailed their customer service including all of our flight information and was assured the dress would be accommodated either by laying it on top of other luggage or in its own space. I did book early boarding and plan on checking in as soon as the 24 hour window opens up. I will arrive at the airport as early as I am able to curb check my bags, wait patiently for TSA screening and arrive early to the gate.

I have also purchased a heavy duty plastic garment bag to store the gown in while in transit to Florida. I am going to begin airing the plastic garment bag out as soon as it arrives so it won't transfer a strong plastic odor to my dress during transit. Thank goodness we have a direct flight:).

I have been assured by RR that I can have the gown dry cleaned and/or steamed before the ceremony. After our day then I will either have it ironed or dry cleaned depending upon need and then pack it in a box, upon further consultation with bridal shop where I purchased the dress I was advised against a space bag due to the heavily embellished bodice. I will pack the dress into a box as described in this YouTube video here and along with my purse make this my carry on. I will place the box in one of the heavy plastic bags available in the stateroom.

For the Hubby to be we are going to take advantage of the On board Tuxedo Rental. I think I will go ahead and measure him and send in his measurements before we leave, don't want to leave anything to chance.

I am requesting that we have our ceremony in the Chapel. I know they will not confirm until 30 days before sailing so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Not too worried about the location as I know the ship will be beautiful. I am also requesting the first afternoon available for the ceremony. I do not want to wait until too late in the cruise before sampling all the wonderfully fattening foods;)!

Any advice, thoughts or comments are welcome :)

  4. I just got my AFT back from a wonderful cruise on the Liberty of the Seas last week where we had the corner Aft cabin #7408. This was a nice E1 or E2 cabin that had a HUGE balcony. We loved our roomy balcony - we even invited our dinner table mates to come over for a cocktail party. We would book this cabin again in a heartbeat. The corner Aft cabins are the way to go! Here are a few pictures that I will attempt to upload.

Great to see the loungers are still there. We booked this cabin for the eastbound TA May 2014 on Liberty. We were discussing possibly taking the couch out onto the balcony if the loungers are absent ;). Our first TA was an OC on deck 6, then balcony deck 6 and now we are going aft!:D
