Actually my hangers don’t come from the dollar store. They are repurposed from my clothes from the dry cleaner who by the way asks for any hangers you wish to return to her.

🤯 Those are worse than the dollar store ones!

Those are like repurposed Ford Pinto cup holders in a new Porsche. 😢

Those should only be repurposed to inside cabins. 😁

Most of it becomes waste. The cleaning crew on TAD will acquire what they can use, and toss the rest. Clothes hangers get repurposed for hanging up robes for suite guests. BTW, as far as I know, all RCL ships still have a "library" somewhere on board, so your leftover book might just survive. The only thing we leave that we know will be used is leftover bottles of beer or water.

WOW, if I paid $20 Grand for a suite I would not want my robe hung up with some repurposed hanger from a dollar store. That's like buying a Porsche and getting Chevy cup holders in it. And repurposed ones to boot!🤬

  3. With the price of bottled water so high these days we have resorted to smuggling water onto our cruises. Just dilled holes in the bottom of several white rum bottles, consumed the contents and refilled with H2O. We call it Water Whisking!😁

But please, the preparation process for this should take you a few weeks to complete . Doing it all the morning of your cruise is not advisable. 🥴 🤕

Ok, I'll go with your analogy.  Celebrity's debt is the best car in a bad garage.

BTW, the fact that we can discuss Pintos and Gremlins and understand they are cars says a lot about the Celebrity Demographic.

I was going to use the Lada Signet, the Soviet made peace of junk, instead of the Gremlin but I don't think they ever were imported into the U.S. Lucky you!

Well Carnival is paying higher rates on its debt than RC and RC's stock has a more favorable outlook from stock analysts than Carnival.

Virgin's info isn't public but what we do know is that starting up doing the pandemic really hurt them and that they were running many cruises late last year and early this year at losses. They just announced another capital raise this week. Richard Branson only has a token investment in Virgin Voyages.

Paying a higher rate on debt is also affected by the maturity of the debt and the timing of when the debt was issued. What you need to compare is the current yield to maturity of debt securities with similar features and similar maturities to see how the market is currently assessing the relative riskiness of each company.

The YTM on Carnival bonds are a lot higher than Royals' of similar maturity right now. And Royal's is a lot higher than high quality Corporates right now.

Put another way, if high quality corporate bonds were a BMW M8, Royal's bonds would be a Ford Pinto and Carnival's bonds would be an AMC Gremlin. 😉

    What ease?
With park and fly , I drive to the office , they take me to the terminal , coming home , I find pick up area they drive me to the car

with Value park I have to drag our bags to train , get on the train, than get to the terminal and than coming find the train , drag  bags to car

and pay $100 more to do it

People from South western Ontario have a wrap sense of ease 🤣

I'm from the GTA. We are not  in South Western Ontario. We are the Centre of Ontario!

Which, BTW is the Centre of the Universe!!! 😁

Really?  I'm really not sure how Royal or Celebrity's financial position compares to Carnival or Virgin but you need to view financial performance on an absolute scale non a relative comparison.  All of the cruise lines took on a lot of debt and are in bad financial condition.  Even if your correct on a relative basis, Royal or Celebrity would only be the best house in a bad neighborhood.

And when they were building that 'best house', they forgot to include a proper foundation.

    Curious so did some googling...

Looks like net worth for top 0.1% in US was about 25 million... ( 1 in 1000)

Also top 1% makes about ~700k a year so on (10 in 1000)

Given a ship has roughly 5000 people there could be up to 50 people 1% and 5 people in top 0.1%, so very possible people just have that sort of $.

We have many people in the US making a ton of money lol.

I'll wager that at least 4 out of those 5 .1%ers are not sailing on Royal.

They are probably sailing on Carnival - that's how they save and be worth $25 mil. 😉

Remind me again why it matter what others spend for a cruise?

Because this is Cruise Critic and we LOVE to know why anyone does anything differently than we do. 😱

And, of course, being CCer's we LOVE to judge others who do things differently too.😉

I keep trying to figure this out. Who is it paying $15,000 and $20,000 for suites on cruise ships and going multiple times a year? Are they putting it on credit or are they paying cash?

Since this is an anonymous board, I can say that my spouse and I are very successful without sounding like I am bragging. No one knows me here. 🙂

We each make well over six figures and our income easily places us in the top 3-4% of all households in our state. I am a vice president at my company, and my husband is quite successful as well. And it's not just our annual income. We have over $2 million already saved for retirement and we're still many years away from that time in our lives.Yet, I can't fathom spending $20,000 on a suite.  It's not that we're against spending. We love fancy things. We live in a lovely home, we drive luxury cars and we have taken our three kids to Europe and we go regularly to Napa and drop $600 a night for a 4-5 night stay, and do $300 dinners. But again, $20,000 on a suite? That is another realm of spending.

Who is it spending this much on a suite? If my husband and I can't afford to do it, who can? There's not that many people who make more than us, to be frank. I just don't get it.

Do you really want to know this because I know exactly how people afford those $20,000 suites, and who they are.

But it's going to cost you ...

    ...  $20 Gand sounds like a reasonable price. 😊

I doubt there was any chance of ever finding a spot in a quiet hot tub on my fully booked Quantum sailing next week, but after reading this I'll be giving them a miss either way!

Heck, after reading some of these posts I don't even want to go into our own hot tub anymore. 🤢

Last night, Mrs. Dawg went in and invited me to join her. From my facial expression she got her answer.

No Worries. All the best to you and get better soon!

There should be a sunbed attendant. If you are going to leave your bed for more than 30 minutes you would have to check in with him to get permission. If you come put down a towel and leave the area immediately, the towel is removed immediately unless you get a special permission slip for a really good reason.  I think a lot of the hogging is in response to the lack of policing of the rules and it's the only way to get a bed because of all the other hogs.

Actually, I'm a little more passive or freedom-oriented than that.  When I pay thousands of $$$$, I don't think I need permission to move about. Monitor the chair, not me!  That's why I generally don't carry my phone with me or turn it off.  With the app, I believe they have the ability to track your movement.

I don't know about anybody else but by the time a go to the Loo and then get a snack it can be way more than 30 minutes especially on seadays with all the lineups. I do hope the pool attendant would grant expedited L and L passes (Loo and Lunch) as I'd hate to have an accident waiting in line for to get his/her permission to go for a whizz.
