Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I should have been clearer in the title. What I intended was a credit card holder that attaches to the back of the iPhone. Not a traditional wallet. I found serval that work with NFC, i.e. no RFID blocking. I would be able to tap without removing the seapass.
  2. Here is one description that differentiates swiping vs tap/RFID: "Contactless cards use radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, allowing you to tap your card to pay for your purchases, rather than swiping or inserting the card into a payment terminal." Swiping, to me, is sliding the card through a magnetic strip reader.
  3. Newer ships with better technology? I will be on Apex next month.
  4. Okay. Thanks all for the input.
  5. Do they actual swipe? I thought they use RFID. I guess I will get the transparent card holder so that they can see it.
  6. I understand that I need to scan my seapass via RFID to open cabin door, etc. Will I need to hand my seapass off or show it to someone for other purposes? I am planning to get a credit card holder for my iPhone. Not sure if I need to get one that is transparent. Thanks in advance.
  7. I might have misunderstood Anytime Dining. You can do walk-up anytime but you can reserve as well. Are you saying that these reservations will not be honored? I thought they will hold the table for us at the reserved time so that I don't have to wait with the walk-up crowd. Confused.
  8. I have a late reservation at one MDR and was trying to search for any available earlier time slots at any MDR. On the Celebrity web site, it says "Limited to once per day" after I hits the "Reserve" button. It won't let me select the names and continue. I have no way to see available time slots for all four MDRs. In the app, it says something different after I hit the button: "Someone in your party isn't eligible, so please select guest or experience". What does this really mean? Do I have to cancel one of my existing reservations before I have to option to check available time slots? I believe it was like this when I initially booked the dining reservations. Thanks in advance.
  9. I was planning to go to St Pancras first and store the luggage there. There are luggage lockers available, right? I hope my information I had is not too old.
  10. I pushed out the departure as late as possible. It is currently at 5:30pm. I should have around 7-8 hours in London. I have been in London a few years back. So just to have lunch and spend few hours there. I better adjust my expectations. No. We are scheduled to spend 5 days in Paris. No hurry to get there.
  11. @sddsddean@John Bull@Globaliser Thank you all for the detailed responses. I planned to self disembark and spend more time in London before taking a train to Paris. I was wishing we can catch a train as early as 7:00. The ship has to be on time and getting to Southampton Central in an hour. Perhaps I was over optimistic.
  12. @sddsddean @John Bull Sorry. I kind of hijacked the thread by mistake. I should be more clear. I was asking the same question about transportation to London but it is for a different cruise. Mine is scheduled to dock at Southampton 6:00am on a Thursday.
  13. @sddsddean Is the train station typically busy on disembarkation morning? Not knowing when we actual disembark, I have to assume ticket reservation may not be the best idea. Train reservation for a later time could work but force us to wait at the station if the ship is on time. Since our arrival is at 6:00am, we are thinking about purchasing tickets at the station. Is it correct that there is no savings on reserving peak hour train tickets? Thanks.
  14. I just found the following on the Verizon Travel Pass FAQ: "Wi-Fi calling isn't included with TravelPass. Wi-Fi calling to a country other than the US is charged international long distance rates regardless of whether or not you have an international travel plan." If this is true, make sure you turn off Wifi calling before leaving the ship oversea. I guess calling US is okay.
