  1. Each day there is a board of specials in the spa.
  2. After the tour, had a Cannonball burger for lunch.
  3. OKI apparently panned out $23 worth of gold flakes. Woohoo! Wait- how much did I pay for this tour? Of course there is a gift shop with gold stuff, and stuffed toy dogs. There are washrooms, and a few treats for sale. We were back to the ship by noon. If you wanted to stay in town, there was that option.
  4. Noordam is here in Juneau, in front of the Tram. Poured this a.m., nicer now.

  6. Next, a character named 'Nugget' demonstrated how to pan paydirt. Then we were off to try it ourselves in warm water troughs.
  7. Our guide then walked us to a cabin where she described the life of prospectors and how much equipment was required to go to the Klondike. Then she demonstrated a sluicer and talked about the huge dredging machine, which is one of only four in existence. This one was brought in from the Yukon in 52 trucks.
  8. It's a very short drive to Dredgetown. The tour is mostly standing and walking.
  9. In Skagway today, and did the morning tour Gold Fever: Gold panning and Alaska Sled Dogs. I was just expecting a bit of fun, but it was actually quite interesting, despite some of the hokey costumes! We started with a lady explaining about sledding in the Iditarod, which she has done I believe 6 times. She showed the equipment and how it is used. Then we visited the sled dogs themselves who came tumbling out of their kennels with great excitement. They were hitched to a sled after some petting time and their excitement was evident. Some pups were passed around too. My gloves got quite a chewing!
  10. Just checked my statement to be sure, and it was 39.95 for both bell boy Lewie and the book.
  11. Got this bell hop Lewie and the HAL history book. Lewie is 29.95 and book is 49.95, but both for 39.95. Although I thought the book was cheaper pre-booking, but can't remember!
  12. Executive Chef Willem came by the tables and chatted, as he did last week. He said HAL is having a sold out Alaska season this year. The food has been mostly good and the wait staff excellent. I have to catch up posting the dailies at some point!
  13. We had onion soup and Gold Rush soup, both good. Also seafood devilled eggs, tiny bit of seafood but a nice bite. DH had the crab cake- good size with lots of crab. DH had the excellent cod, and I got the stroganoff. Tasty but meat was a bit dry. Dessert pavlova was very nice.
