We always do a Caribbean cruise in February because we live in cold NJ and it's a chance to just get away without it being a long trip or flight.  We too have been to most of the islands many times previously on Celebrity, RCI, and Princess.  This February (2/7/22) will be our first time on Oceania and while some say it's a waste of the Oceania experience, we are totally excited.  To us, it's the fun of the ship, food, etc rather than the islands.  However, in past travels we have somehow missed St Barts and Guadalupe which are on this cruise so perhaps you, Nursinadream, can tell me something about those two islands since you have been to them all.  With no cruising for the past year there is very little current info on the ports of call board.  Thanks.

We are on that cruise also. Not sure if you joined but it does have a reasonably active roll call if you want to join. Someone was putting together a tour in Guadeloupe.

  2. I am not a fan of ship tours so we always do ours independently. We used TJ Travel for St. Petersburg and they were fabulous (https://st-petersburg-tours.ru) and very reasonably priced (we had 2 overnights so we toured for 3 days). Although we did not use them for other areas I know they also offer tours in several of the other Baltic ports. I recommend you look at your roll call to see if there are others putting together tours in the various ports. I set up the one with TJ and I wound up with 30 people signing up thru the roll call and they gave us 3 vans. I would be happy to give you the info on who we used in other ports if you decide you want to book independent tours.

Thank you Jenn. The Vista roll call is now up and I have started the roll call for the first two cruises, Maiden Voyage and  Canary Island Explorers.

I have also started a roll call for Venice to Athens, May 20 ~ June 1, 2023

Send an email to CC Help Jenn, Senior Community Support Specialist, at help@cruisecritic.com from your Cruise Critic email address of record & mention your user name. Ask for the Roll Call forum to be created for the new ship.

    Happy sails,

  5. Just booked the Vista Ancient Adriatics cruise from May 20, 2023 - June 1, 2023. After 3 cancelled cruises (and another 2 booked for 2022 which we may or may not be willing to sail on if things don't improve), I am guardedly optimistic that the world will return to normal by 2023.  Would love to start a roll call for this cruise but Vista has not been added to cruise critic - any ideas how to get them to add it?

Source for this comment?  This is not what I was told today when I specifically asked for details onboard.

We fall into the "travellers in transit" exception, and from what I was told we will be able to disembark in Stockholm on the 8th.

The 09/08 cruise itinerary has been revised to depart Copenhagen at 10:00 p.m. on 09/09 from the revised itinerary that was posted last night.

Maybe I am wrong but I thought that is what someone on that roll call posted.  Maybe it just applied to the 9/8 & 9/20 cruises. If I got it wrong, I apologize.

Wow. We disembark in Amsterdam on 9/18 but our flight out isn't until 9/23. We booked flights on our own. We are leaving for our 9/8 cruise on this Sunday. I have been looking forward to this trip for some time but the stress of all these changes is starting to make this not fun.

The itinerary for the cruise leaving Stockholm on 9/8 shows it’s in Oslo, Norway on 9/18 ~ was your itinerary modified? If so, O has not updated the website.

I guess you did not get my point

On the ships now they ask you not to leave the balcony doors open  because it affects the A/C in some cabin blocks

So with the french Balcony where the doors can open I can see some issues  unless they have a cut off switch  to shut A/C off  when they are open

     Just my opinion

I was not aware that they asked this, tho I have never left my room with the veranda doors open. Thanks for the info.

  9. Does anyone have feedback on this hotel? Is it a good location for touring? We only have 2 days pre-cruise in September (hopefully) so looking to be someplace centrally located with easy access to public transportation. We are Marriott members looking to use points and this hotel is a Design hotel that’s part of the chain. Thanks.

  10. Hoopster I need your help!  Taking a page from your playbook, we have rented a car from Avis for our day in Moorea on February 11.  The confirmation says pickup and dropoff are at the Vaiare Ferry Terminal but we are of course tendering from the ship into Opunohu Bay.  I tried calling Avis and they are of no help, according to them the only 2 locations are the airport and the Ferry Terminal. Looking at your map, the Ferry Terminal is far from where we tender.  Your post said a minivan picked you up at the tender pier and brought you to the Avis counter in the Intercontinental Hotel.  How did you advise them that you needed to be picked up from the pier instead of the ferry terminal?  We will also be at the Hilton from February 8-10 so if we need to contact someone at Avis there maybe we can get someone at the Hilton to do it for us?  Any help you can provide would be very appreciated.

  11. We have been on Marina twice, Insignia once. Both were enjoyable but if itinerary was the same we would choose the O ship for the following reasons:

    1. Size of cabin;

    2. Size of bathroom, especially inclusion of a tub. I know many say to get rid of them but I really enjoy using it when on vacation.

    3. The 2 extra specialties, especially Jacques

    4. The ability to take culinary classes.

    5. The possibility of using Privee or indulging in La Reserve.

    6. We found our Insignia cruise was a much older crowd; we are in our early 50s and found very few people close to our age aboard. Not sure if that’s an R ship thing or just that particular itinerary (RT NY doing the NE Coast).

I honestly did not find any difference because of the increased number of passengers on O ships.

We would do an R cruise again if it was the right itinerary and because I would like to see the renovations. But was very happy to hear about the new builds so we have more options on the O size ships.

  12. We did the Baltic on the Marina in September of 2017. Having the 3 days in St. Petersburg was fabulous, I don’t know how you could see all there is to see in less time.  If you are looking for a tour guide, I highly recommend TJ Travel and Nadia. Great customer service & wonderful tour guide who brought the city to life for our group!
