  1. What does your group enjoy doing..?

Would help people pitch ideas to you.

There is a bunch of beach clubs, slightly different from each other, to fit any taste.

Dolphin swims, mini-subs, snorkeling, scuba, speedboats, jet-skis, parasailing, very small ruins and lots and lots of shopping.

thanks for that advise I would describe myself as an 52 year kid lol did helmet dive stingray city and boring ruins looking for something new something I never did before if possible . in decent health but freaked out when tried to snuba a WOW experience thanks for any ideas

  2. I am in an central park balcony on the oasis 32 days from sailing . paid for a guarantee balcony 12 months ago have been assigned 10601 for at least 4 months . I paid 849 minus the 100$ for balcony discount . ocean view is currently listed at 799 . would they consider a free upgrade and if so which side of ship would be best for viewing the islands while in port. we are headed to Haiti, Cozumel and Falmouth. what are my options . I would like to know before I call my ta thanks .

  3. I am sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm a relative "newbie" to cruising (this will only be my 4th). I know we have to go online and fill out a lot of information to complete our paperwork, but when do we print the luggage tags and setsail passes? We don't leave for 8+ weeks, so obviously, there's no hurry. But, just wondering when they are ready and how we find out.

49 days ish prior to cruise

  4. If you're there the night before your cruise check to see if any ships will be going out that evening. If so, there are some great restaurants on the south side of the ship basin where the departing ships pass right by you very close. -

They have good food and, if you want, outdoor decks for dining. Our favorite is Fish Lips where the Port Canveral webcam is located. :)

agree with visiting Fishlips. We had the alligator bites ,watched a satellite launch from cape Canaveral and had the good fortune of watching a pair of dolphins playing near the outside dining area .
  5. Can I use my old luggage tags and just cross off the room number or how do I get new tags? Sorry is this has been asked the search isn't working

I do not know if this has changed but when I got an upgrade my cruise documents changed as well a day later just go to page 31 I believe and print up new ones .dependent of course how last minutes is at least 5 days before cruising date . good luck and happy cruising
  6. I'll be on the Navigator at the end of March but really this could apply in a hypothetical to any of the ships. But in this case Navigator, going to Falmouth, Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

Anyways, I recently got my tax return money back and I've decided to use around 200-250 of it as "fun money" on the cruise. I don't drink so I'm not planning to buy any kind of boozey package. So I thought that I'd come here for suggestions. I'm a female in my late 20s, very active, love pretty much everything except for heights, bananas and creepy crawlies. I'm SCUBA certified but my traveling companion is not.

If you had 200-250 bucks to spend either on board or on a specific souvenir or specific excursion what would it be?

try SNUBA with your companion that might get your companion interested in getting certified for scuba in future travels. good luck and happy cruising

  7. We just cruised the Jewel a few weeks ago and found the entertainment sadly lacking.

Only one show with singers and dancers and that wasn't until Thursday night on a Saturday to Saturday cruise. Furthermore the show was supposedly brand new with only 6 days of rehearsal. Too bad they didn't need 8 days of rehearsal! Entire show was uncomfortably disjointed with no coordination between costuming and musical selections. It was not the fault of the singers or dancers either. Also won't forget the people sitting behind us who were obviously involved with creating this ridiculous production and yelled "Bravo" roughly 35 times throughout the 45 minutes. Actually reconsidering, this show was laughably bad.

On other evenings, there was an abundance of almost funny comedians and a 2-man juggling/comedy act which was boring after 15 minutes.

Several evenings "entertainment" consisted of audience-participation games instead of professional acts.

Considering the total package, this was the worst entertainment on any of our 42 cruises.

I understand your dis satisfaction but isnt the jewel very port intensive like 5 or 6 ports in a seven day cruise . I am looking at the jewel for next year just to finish out my southern Caribbean bucket list any live entertainment will be a bonus .
  8. I called C&A yesterday as we have other people going with us on our cruise who has never cruised before.

There are a total of 5 rooms. These rooms WERE booked together, BUT they are all in other people's names and we did NOT get a discount.

3 of the rooms are my mom, my sister and her son, and my BIL and son.

When I called to get the $25 per room the guy took SO long to find out and then proceeded to tell me since they are all linked together, I can not get the bring a friend money. He also says you probably got a group discount.

Ummm...no. We did not get a group discount and they are all under different names. I just paid with my credit card for everyone as I am most familiar with cruises and have taken over for making the plans.

Is this right or should I be trying to call again and get the $75?

We did this last year with friends who went with us but didn't book at the same time. We were able to get the $25 then.

this happened to me once when I use a ta who no longer works with the agency . he book me and my group into a block grouping so I wasn't eligible for the refer a friend . that is where the agency commits to buy a group or "block" of stateroom s at a discounted rate . one of the rare times the price for the stateroom would be less than advertised rc rate. since I always ask if part of a block before I book
  9. The Explorer has the Cafe Promenade. You can get pizza there (not very good pizza in my opinion, but pizza). You can also get a variety of small sandwiches, pastries, cookies, fruit cups. Coffee and tea are free and readily available.

I do believe that they had one of those freestyle machines right outside the Cafe, just past the Ben & Jerry's ice cream station (not free).

Other food that's free is pretty much everything in the buffet, and the grill. Johnny Rocket's is an extra charge, I believe it was $4.95 but I can't swear to it as I didn't have it. In the buffet you can get iced tea and lemonade for free. And I do believe there's an ice cream machine but I can't recall it's exact location at the moment.

no sorrentos on this class ship?????
  10. We are loyal Royal Caribbean cruisers and have only one more cruise before we achieve Diamond Plus. We have worked with the Crown & Anchor call center many times over the last few years.

We are currently scheduled for a cruise in March and have convinced five other first time RCCL couples to join us.

As we try to get everything arranged, we have had to contact the Crown & Anchor desk a number of times over the lat few weeks.

Each call seems to bring more frustration. We have been told different things on different calls. We attempted to link the RCCL excursions just as our dinner seating is linked but were told that we could not do that. They wont let me link them because my name is not on the reservation but they wont let my friends link them because their names are not on my reservation.

Apparently, linked dinner reservations are completely different than linked excursions.

We also attempted to get the "Bring a Friend" $25.00 on board credit. The first woman was very nice and worked with us but when I called back to link the last two couples, I was told that I needed birth dates, e-mail addresses and confirmation numbers (I had the confirmations number) All of the reservations were already linked for dinner.

We have always had great service in the past but something seems to have changed.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

I would book online then compare departing time , if the same time you should be ok with the excursions . IF they are not I have cancelled on the ship and excursion desk solved my problem once on the ship . regarding bring a friend I too have had issues but that was my ta s fault he had my group booked into a block thus I was not eligible for refer a friend since that 1st time though I just go online enter their reservation # name listed 1st on the state room and their respective birthday. good luck and happy cruising
  11. I am headed to xcaret for an excusion has anyone been there ??? if so what are the do not miss and the just skip activities ???? thanks for your feedback

  12. Looking to book rooms for family on New Years cruise. Has anyone stayed in the rooms on 9th floor viewing Central Park. They do not have balcony, but are well priced. Want to know how they worked out. Were they noisy? Have stayed in upper flors with balconies and they were fine. Thanks!
we had cabins 9255 and 9655which was right around the corner from the elevators and the night club ( forget the name) . we never had any noise problems
  13. I know this is random but I'm a newbie to the crusing way of life....I've read a lot of posts and see some people take 3/4/5 if not more cruises a year.

My question is how do people afford so much? I'm married, active duty enlisted and am no way loaded lol we live in guam so the closest port is Singapore/Hong Kong.

    Any suggestions would be great!

    Thanks

I cruise 2 times a year spring break and fall during no peak times . I always book really early most of the time a year in advance and always watch for price reductions . I wait for true sales and always book guaranteed interior cabins because as long as I am on the ship I am on vacation.last but not least I pay myself 200 to 300$ a month just like a normal bill because I have come to the conclusion that life is way too short. good luck and happy cruising
  14. I have seen the drink menu and prices posted, and it got me wondering if they ever have "happy hour" specials, or any other specials (like a bucket of beer kind of thing)??

Thank you in advance, you seasoned cruisers are very valuable to the newbies!

the freedom had 1/2price drinks from 5 to 730 everyday in the casino back in oct 2013. we would stop and get a drink every night on the way to the 7 o clock show . I would guess this varies depending on which ship you are on though good luck and happy cruising
  15. Does the booking have to be booked as a group right away? Or can we add to it to come up with the required amount of stateroomsand then receive the discount? We have 4 staterooms to be booked (just have to find the ship) now, with more coming in the future.

    Thanks all for the help.

just be careful when booking through a travel agent if he/she books you as a part of a 'block" of cabins and you have say several refer a friends. my experience is it doesnt allow you to get credit for those new cruisers you have introduced to rc that could be as much as 25 a cabin for up to 5 cabins . just make sure you ask the agent specifically if it is in a block that is they group your booking with others to sell the allotted cabins
  16. Shows are the same but the comedians like to get into it with the audience and improv on what they say. Last night of the cruise there is a comedy show in the theater. Our two comedians changed their routine for that show.

I agree 100% the only thing I feel carnival does better than rc is their comedy program . I was on the dream and saw 6 different comedy shows all great for a laugh and all different (was forced to go with family lol)
  17. WE'RE BOOKED !!!!! A dream come true!

As an uber planer' date=' I'm already making a schedule....

Quick question. While watching the men's belly flop competition I can bring one of those corn dogs I keep reading about to my seat? How about a drink? Or is food not allowed in the theatre proper ?

    Lil' Baba[/quote']

we did on the allure we went to the dog house and ordered all six types of hot dogs split them in half and enjoyed the show . I will miss them on the oasis though:(

  18. Cracks me up all these people saying their so scared to walk in Jamaica.

I travel solo and one of my favorite safest places I've been is downtown

    Jamaica.

    Give me a break.

Go to the bronx if you want a show.

scared no not at all a little of caution and risk assessment never hurts. did you mean DOWNTOWN FALMOUTH ? I do value everyone s opinions and experiences
  19. I thought we had a disgruntled poster who was talking about this RCCL board!!! :D
haha not at all the only time I have been out in Jamaica was at ocho rios in oct 2010 from the freedom back then once we left the compound we was bombarded by cabbies and vendors. aggressively every 5 feet that is the only reason I ask. granted we was the only ship in that day and they was only trying to make a living
  20. Not safe enough to walk, we were just there in December, Falmouth is disgusting. We went outside the gates walked about 2 blocks , turned around and went back, didn't feel comfortable at all, despite all the police in the area.
