  1. Crystal so glad your Mom is doing better. What a relief for you. Did you see on the news about the storm in Athens yesterday? Below is a message from my friend who's there. Hope the weather clears for you. *Bonus bar recommendation.
  2. It's actually POTA. That n looking character is a Pi. It means drinks. VAT is 24% on those and 13% on the food. It is no longer possible to have a super cheap Greek meal like you used to hear about with the mandates on taxation and bills showing the included VAT being collected with austerity measures having been enacted. But, it still works out pretty cheap for Europe.
  3. So strange. All along I haven't be able to see your phone videos, but, can see your last few GoPro movies on my phone. Have been meaning to pull out the laptop to go back and watch! Looks like a great island!
  4. That's a good choice considering the only other option was large intestine.😂😂 I am surprised no one mentioned that they look like terrifyingly alive drill bits. 😱 Anyone? 🙋‍♀️
  5. If you are seeing available cabins in the same category, ask for the specific cabin numbers. Under current pricing on my last several cruises, the value of the CB connecting balconies that you had was probably a lot higher than the cabins that you have now been allocated in terms of the Allure pricing and so are not only inconvenient, but, not "like for like" that they promised and are in fact, a downgrade. Keep pushing it from that angle until you receive a response from the highest level.

  9. And the answer after a 53 minute phone call is "No". The deadline for favorable cancelation offer is still October 20. Rep will write it up as he sees the problem there with a cancel date before the cabin assignment deadline and I should hear from someone in 72 hours yadayadayada...... As an aside, I noticed a new option in the phone menu when I called has been added. Said if you were calling about Allure or Explorer, press 1. I thought oh! It's going to be their best and brightest answering these tough calls about re-deployments! My rep and her supervisor were both very good at de-escalation, but, still had no REAL answers to give. Shame the company doesn't equip them with better information like an appropriate cancelation date for an extended move deadline. I hear a lot of people blame IT, but, that miss sits firmly on the shoulders of the business decision makers.
  10. I made the observation based on 10 transatlantic roll calls that I've participated. Only one other one, an EB, was slow like the Wonder so it does happen, but, less frequently. The others were/are very active, with one having exceeded 22,000 posts! Our original canceled Allure was going to go past 20k, I'm sure. On a personal note, I'm not participating as much because I am completely on the fence about taking the Wonder cruise, it being my 2nd WB in just 2 months next year. I do appreciate your efforts to engage people in chatter, though! On the other one of mine that was quiet and slow, I eventually started a trivia game that seemed to get some people posting in the intervening months before the cruise talk picked up. It was kind of fun, I think!
  11. Don't you think that recent issues outside of cruising are naturally taking their toll on meeting strangers online for the purposes of chatting about cruises? Also, that the demographic cruising right NOW are not new cruisers but those that are very well seasoned and in no need of participating or seeking knowledge. As long as rules for boarding and shorex keep changing, I think you'll find very few inclined to cruise or chat right now. At least that's how I feel sometimes. I do agree with you about the messy other place. Kind of a pain to find anything seen previously. Also, a lot of 💩 posted.
  12. I rode up it on these full size busses that negotiate those hairpins like they have all the room in the world! It is hair-raising when they pass each other as the cliff side view gives no indication of how narrow that road is! I flew off the island so didn't get to experience the down. Sorry Crystal felt queasy ahead of another ferry ride. And now I get to experience Naxos vicariously, having never been...yet..
  13. As long as the cabins aren't being sold, there was pretty much no reason to not do straight moves - systematically would be best - for non suites and deal with only the not found cabin numbers manually. Opening up the sales screwed both the consumers and the poor souls tasked with completing this data entry mess.
  14. If you saw the letter, then you will have noted that the new target date for completion is November 3. Whether or not they extended cancelation offers past October 20th is anyone's guess.
  15. I didn't receive the email. I wonder if that means anything? Like maybe mine is still on target to complete. 😏
  16. Did they extend the deadline to cancel since they won't be done? How can I cancel by the 20th if I'm still waiting to see where they put me since my cabin is sold? 🤔
  17. That was filmed on Skopelos in another island group. The church is Agios Ioannis (St. John). Very often in Greece you see a church on the highest mountain tops and they are almost always named after Old Testament Prophet Elijah or Profitis Ilias in Greek.
  18. From post #7 https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g635864-d1088707-Reviews-Grace_Hotel_Santorini_Auberge_Resorts_Collection-Imerovigli_Santorini_Cyclades_South_A.html
  19. Totally feel the same. But, so far I have felt that way about any European Med destination. Something is lost for me on just a daytime port visit. I have only done one 4 night Med used as filler/hotel prior to a TA. The one port per day Med itineraries have zero appeal to me. Maybe one day I'll change my mind, but, not now. And after 4 Greek Isles land trips, my interest and enjoyment have not waned at all.
  20. Is that 3 levels of garlic in the tzatziki? Love mine hot! 🔥 Also, Love those carob dakos in the salads. The bags I brought home in July are all gone.😪 What did you think of the ride up to the rim from the ferry port? I cannot believe how the big busses do it! 😱
  21. This is exactly the attitude to have when traveling in Covid times! Or, anytime 😊
  22. I was too late to edit my last post, but if you want a hike on Santorini, the hike up over Mt. Mesa Vouno from Kamari to Perissa is a real leg stretcher. You can visit Ancient Thira ruins at the top, too.
