  1. Last time we were in LeHarve, there was a shuttle available, but not provided by RC. I think it was 5 euros, but cant remember exactly. It was an hours ride, took you to and through the city centre, and the guide explained lots of things about the buildings and history of the city. I felt it was money well spent.

We were there on a Sunday and most of the stores were closed, but it was still a nice tour, especially for the money.

Other than that, there is not much to do in LeHarve, and we had been to Paris a number of times, so the tour was something different for us.

  2. Most of the RCI ships have an interactive TV that shows the shipboard account, and should show you how much money you have remaining on that account.

You could then decide how much you want to allocate to the staff members and indicate the amount on the form. No need to stand in line.

There may be some ships that do not have the shipboard account showing on your TV, but if so, I haven't been on any of them in a long time:D

  3. I do not believe there are any "private" vendors on Coco Cay, so to do the jet skis you will need to book thru the ship.

In Port Canaveral you could rent a car and drive to the Space Center, or you could contact a limo company in Cocoa Beach and see what it would cost for a round trip to the Space Center. Ask on the "Ports of Call" board and someone may be able to provide you with a tour company in Cocoa Beach (Port Canaveral)

  4. We also got off Quantum, and we are 3 dinners in American Icon, 3 dinners in Chic, 2 in Grande and others in Coastal kitchen. American icon has changed the menu (we were also on in November) and the pretzel dogs, and hamburgers are no longer on the menu. There is a surf and turf, shrimp and filet, which was delicious, my husband loved the turkey dinner as did another at our table. We were told the turkey dinner is the most popular meal on the ship! Our food was always hot and our service was outstanding. The short ribs are still on the menu, as are barbecue ribs, but I can't remember the other things. The warm skillet cookie is a great dessert.

Food is subjective, but I have no complaints about any of the food in these restaurants. I liked some dishes better than others, onion crusted chicken in Chic was one of my favorites, but the beef we had at all of the. Ensues was excellent, and the lobster in Grande was much better than usual cruise ship lobster.

I did hear some complaints about dynamic dining, but not everyone was complaining. We were a group of 16 onboard and all of us enjoyed the food and the service. We are not novice cruisers, 2 were emerald, 12 diamond plus and 2 pinnacles, so we do have something to compare it to. I think you either love or hate dynamic dining, but I see a lot of improvement sine we sailed Quantum in November.

  5. Funny how different people have totally different experiences and opinions about the same cruise.

We were also onboard Quantum Feb2-13, and loved Dynamic Dining. We had excellent service in Chic, American Icon, Grande and Coastal Kitchen. Friends of ours loved Silk (we don't like Asian food). Loved the food at 270 and loved the hot dogs at the bumper cars. Did not like the entrees at Jamie's, however, the starters and meat boards were outstanding. Friends had the chicken and lamb, and both were much too tough and inedible (their opinion, not mine). I had the shrimp scampi pasta, and it was just OK, could make it better myself.

We did have reservations for most nights, and only one night did we have a wait.....the rest of the time we were seated within 1-2 minutes of arriving.

One night we didn't have reservations we walked up to American Icon and were seated immediately.

Do agree we didn't care for Starwater, but that's a personal opinion, and I didn't like Sonic Odyssey, much too loud for me. Saw Mamma Mia on Quantum in November and loved it didn't go this time. Not a big fan of production shows, but my husband saw the comedians and thought they were very good.

Solarium is wonderful, very beautiful and relaxing. I would sail this ship or Anthem in a heartbeat we enjoyed it very much.

Has it been officially announced that they are going to rotational dining? I must have missed it.

  6. Documents are typically ready 45 days prior to sailing, give or take a couple of days. If you are in a suite or are a pinnacle member of crown and anchor your luggage tags will be mailed to you. If you are in a category below GS and are not a Pinnacle member, you will need to print the luggage tags that are included in your documents. The luggage tag shown on your Set Sail Pass is not the one you should print.

  7. I don't smoke at all but my daughter smokes the e-cigar. and I am much happier knowing she is smoking that than regular cigarettes....honestly, they don't smell why do some people have to create an issue when there isn't any!

Until there is definitive scientific proof that e-cigarette smoking is a harmless as you wish to believe, I think RCI and others are on strong grounds in treating their use in the same manner as the treat cigarette smoking. We grew up hearing claims from tobacco companies that smoking was not dangerous and now many of these same companies are selling e-cigarettes and making similar claims. For me it is a case of "once bitten, twice shy".

  8. HI Mark,

I will be cruising along with you but when you get off, we get on for 11 days!

I think we cruised with you on EX out of Florida in oct or Nov 2001, but I have followed al you live threads and cruise vicariously with you.

Have a great time, we were also on board for a 2 day and a 3 day in November and we loved the ship, it is so beautiful. Especially loved the warm cookies in the WJ!

  9. Please call Royal Caribbean and ask them what the proper ID is.

I just booked with a military discount(and have done so many times in the past) and was told there was a new procedure. You must have a NOTARIZED copy of the DD214. We have never been asked to produce the DD214, but I was told it was a new policy.

What is posted on the website may not have caught up with the new policy, or the rep I booked with could have been mistaken.

It would be best if you call and see what proof is required. Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

  10. We have done this cruise for many years. You should have no problem

However, that is if everything goes well. Last year we booked a 10:30 flight from TPA to Boston, and made the airport in plenty of time and we did not do self debarkation. We asked for and received the luggage tag #2, and we waited for a taxi (the line for that took about 15 minutes), the airport was about 15 minutes from the pier, and we still had plenty of time.

People talked about the fog in Tampa keeping the ship from arriving on time, but we did not experience any problems and as I said we have done this cruise many times (the repo used to be Jewel from Boston to FLL but then the BR did it from BOS to TPA) and have never had a problem. Of course, you should remember Murphy's Law:D

Come on over to the rollcall for this cruise and introduce yourselves!

  11. Rita, others have reported "Coastal Kitchen privileges" for Spa JS. :)

Other than that, as you said, NO to all the other questions.

Carol, she asked about "breakfast" in CK......my docs say we can go to CK for dinner, but not for any other meal. Do you know of anyone who has managed to go for breakfast or lunch? If so, that would be great.

About the "inconsistency".......did you expect anything else:D

    See you in February!

  12. In the past year on cruises, I have seen folks, being turned away from the mdr, folks being allowed in the mdr when you have shorts on. I think it depends upon the ship and the staff.

The sign outside the mdr says no shorts, but some people choose to ignore it and are let in, and some choose to ignore it and are turned away.

  13. I posted a thread here back in June asking if people thought that the cabins on the deck plans that showed larger balconies actually have larger balconies in fact. At the time it was all speculation.

    Now we should know.

So do the D1 balconies such as 13248 or 10248 etc that show a much larger balcony due to the angled balcony on the deck plans actually have much larger balconies....

    Surely someone can tell!!!

    Please share!!!

    jc

Yes, we had a D1 on deck 10 in November and the D1 balconies are larger than the other D balconies. :)
