For those of you lucky enough to have money refunded back to your credit card, did you also get an e-mail notification from Princess with a line by line explanation as to what exactly has been refunded? I booked my 2 cancelled cruises with a US travel wholesale company, so I paid everything in US dollars. The confusion will come in if/when I get the money refunded back to my Canadian cc company, all in Canadian dollars.

Ok I thinkI can answer this as we are Canadian as well. We got notified about the refunds by PayPal. The refunds were every separate payment we made and are going back to the credit card used via PayPal. Anything paid in Canadian funds is going through as Canadian but my shore  excursions, water and liquor I bought is being refunded in American funds as it was paid for in American funds. We also heard nothing from Princess about the refunds....only PayPal. I did know exactly what we were due and it was to the penny. The only thing is the port fees and taxes and my Princess travel agent is going to check into where they are as I think only Princess can see those on my princess account. Hope this helps.

We cancelled a March 10 cruise on March 6 and our excursions and prepaid gratuities were refunded on our credit card within a week of cancelling. But we had to wait for port fees and taxes and ended getting those back via a dispute with our credit card company.

We were included in the set of cancellations that happened when Princess did it’s 60 day pause of operations. Our cruise was to be March 14. They cancelled on I think 12 or 13. So it’s a whole different circumstance..Since they cancelled all ships for 60 days it’s far more time to wait for refunds to the credit card now. I got my fcc. As for the charges on my cc...I consider it money spent as I would not have it (if we had of cruised that is) so when it comes it comes I guess lol.I will worry further if it goes over the 60 day period.

Yeah, that’s what they said in March, but this is what they did in April:

Note that they call it Money, not an FCC, and others have reported being able to get it refunded after contacting Princess and asking for the refund. But that is one more step you have to take (and sit on hold to get through to a rep) to get your refund.

If you are planning on booking another cruise soon to use up your FCC, it might be less hassle to apply the funds to the new cruise; but everyone has to make their own choices based on how much cash is being held by Princess vs. how much cash you need/want to have under your own contro.

Yes, this is correct. This is the latest info I got from my Princess rep as well. Thanks for posting this.

Do u know how they will show up
We see cruise and pre post pkg on our statement but nothing about shore excursions
Lots of money tied up there
    Thanks

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

They said to me 60 days. I’m really hoping. I have about 2500.00 tied up with three cancelled cruises with shore excursions, cash I put on our stateroom, etc. As soon as anybody gets a refund I hope they post it so we know there’s hope.

Even though we chose option 1, we had port taxes automatically returned to credit card.  So, if you would rather have the money than an OBC for a future sailing, you might want to call Princess back.

I put them on some future cruises for obc. The only thing I am waiting for is my excursions and on board spending money I put on my account. I already got everything else sorted out but thanks.it seems to be one big mess.

Port taxes are refunded to your credit card regardless of what option - FCC or full refund - you may choose.  Princess can't automatically hold back these funds and put them into future OBC.  Perhaps you can "buy" OBC with these refunded port taxes.

Not with me. I chose option 1 and the port Fees and taxes went into a holding account. I already requested them to be put for obc on next March cruises.

Nothing Princess has said in the past regarding refunds to me has been or come true and I have gotten different answers and different timelines from different Princess CSR's.  Princess has not put anything into writing and sent it to me regarding a timeline which I find even more suspect.

Anything anybody is saying from Princess now I consider to be a bold face lie.

Filed dispute with my Credit Card Company and if Princess loses and I win the bank gets to charge them a penalty for a pay back and I get my money back.

We need less Princess propaganda now and more true results, like someone actually getting a refund.  I am no longer willing to play the Princess "the check will be in the mail wait game."

I’m just posting info I found out in case people were wondering. It’s just info I was told by somebody I’ve been dealing with at Princess for years so I thought it would be useful. Please don’t shoot the messenger. I’m waiting for a sizeable refund as well.

  8. Future cruise credits are processed in order of the dates you put your request in.

credit card refunds are processed according to sail date. They said allow 60 days from your SAIL date. So If your cruise was on March 14, expect the refund around May 15.
The FCC,s and the credit card refunds are processed by two different departments. This is why some of us are getting fcc and no cc refund yet.
the Tex and port fees are a separate refund that will be on your account that Princess can see. Those can be used as on-board credit.
Even if you had a previous cruise booked, you can use the new fcc,s towards them (if you choose. That way, if you had a cruise booked next year with some perks you don’t want to lose you can pay for it with the fcc,s you get.
I spent time on the phone with my Princess vacation planner and got the info above. She helped me pay off three future cruises with the fccs yesterday and answered all my questions. Hope this clarifies and helps.

I chose option 1 and that sentence exists. I think it has always been there regardless of the type of Future Cruise Credit. It also exists under Onboard Credits.

I think that was there from before. However, the page we filled out to apply for the cancelled cruise credits (where we chose option 1 or 2) mentions nothing about this. The gal on the phone when I called Princess said due to circumstances they are letting people use the fcc on existing cruises booked. I don’t think they have quite caught up with all that is happening..

Pretty clear that "The credits are used against the cruise fare paid with Princess" Cruise Fare is a line item. Example 1: I booked a cruise with Princess and transferred the booking to a TA. Princess cancelled the cruise. The FCCs I received under Option 1 were based on the cruise fare of the Princess booking, not the discounted cruise fare I got from the TA. Example 2: I asked my TA to apply FCCs to an existing booking. Again the FCCs applied are based on the Princess cruise fare. The TA says she may have to send me a check for the discount.

I use a cruise planner through Princess so I already got a casino discount so my bookings are fixed price wise. This is why I wanted to apply ny credits to the ones I’ve booked already. I was happy with that.

I looked at my FCC section and it does says that, but I agree it is standard wording and this is anything BUT standard.  I chose Option 1.

Thank you for telling us the right words to say for those of us dealing with a travel agent to use the FCC who in turn will call Princess!!

Does the FCC need to be applied to a future cruise right away If you have some booked, or can you do it at final payment time and let it sit in your FCC till then?   I hope to wait till final payment so if things look bad I can cancel without having to deal with the FCC already on there and it needing to be returned to my account.

You have two years to use the fcc. The date you have to use them by will be listed beside the fcc in your personalizer.

So THAT'S  what my PVP meant when she had to adjust dates to apply my FCC to my previously booked Sky Transatlantic this September and Enchanted Transatlantic next April.

Can FCC be used to buy OBC? I did it once (202.13 on Sky to use up the 1st FCC received as it had an earlier expiration date of 12/31/21) but now it seems I can't on the Enchanted. Confused

The FCC we received for the cancelled cruises can only be used for cruises and not obc. This is my understanding anyway. We had some obc already with the cruises we had booked and a shareholder credit we will get so I’m happy to pay the cruise fares off we have.  What we got from 18 cancelled cruise days paid for 32 cruise days so it’s all good.

Hate to be the one to break it to you, but the other lines are acting in the same fashion. Some a little better, some a little worse, but not much difference.

I called Princess about this and it’s sort of a computer glitch. Usually you cannot use fcc towards an existing booking but due to the circumstances they are letting people use them now. It just takes a change of booking dates. I had three cruises booked and I can pay them off with the fcc I just got . It just has to be done through a Princess rep  on the phone. So Princess is doing better than a lot of companies

Just spoke to Princess. She said we will have our refund by May 12 since we cancelled March 12. She was very calm and reassuring.

the skeptical side of me will believe it when I see it.

This is good to know. I was kind of stressing as I got my fcc back minus the taxes and port fees on Monday and the other on Wednesday but nothing back to my cc as I’d yet. They owe me over 3 k with everything so I’m getting concerned as no one from our cancelled group seems to be getting any monies back.

I received my FCC on April 8 for my March 15 Regal sailing. I was hoping the refund would arrive shortly after but to no avail. In following this thread, has anyone gotten anything refunded in their original payment (Taxes, fees, excursion, tips)?

Starting to really think our refunds might not happen, as much as it pains me to say this. One would have to think that the FCC and refund would be handled concurrently based on the form and choice selected.

I’m still about three weeks until the 60 days they asked for processing time so I’m not super concerned. I was glad at least something is starting to happen and any other cc refund I ever got from Princess took about a week to show up on my card. I have a princess cruise vacation planner who I will get in touch with if I don’t see anything by May 11.

Glad to hear that some refunds are being processed, but so far what we have heard is mostly FCC credits and even those folks are waiting for refunds on port charges, etc.

They really seem to be dragging their feet on refunding actual cash.  I am now worried that they will process all the FCC credits before they do any cash ones.  Okay, maybe I am paranoid...

I’ll post when my cash refund goes on my credit card. Even if they put it in yesterday it usually takes a few days to show up on a credit card. As soon as it does I will let you know.

  17. Ok update. They have processed my first cruise that was cancelled.  Sky, March 14 14 days.  So far myself and my husband have gotten our 225 percent fcc into both our Princess accounts. Minus the port fees and taxes. I am hoping that those will be refunded and show up on my credit card within the next few days along with about 2400 in shore excursions, wifi and spending cash I put on our room the week before we left as we were in Ft Lauderdale when it was cancelled about 48 hours before we were to board. They also owe me fcc and a little cash from a cruise that was to be May 1 on the Grand but I’m thinking they are refunding according to sail date as well as when a person applied for the choice of refund. Still waiting on the extra expenses for flight cancel fees and hotel room that I submitted to Princess but at least this is a start. I’ll post when my cc gets refunded .

  18. As of today still nothing. We were cancelled on our March 14 Sky back to back two days before we were to sail so I’m waiting for my 225 percent future cruise credit as well as about 2600 in excursions and internet and spending cash etc. I also was to sail in May for a small cruise that also got canceled with the shutdown so I’m waiting for 150 percent cruise credit.

  19. Got upgraded on both the sky and enchanted that we are taking back to back (or side by side as some say ).. We declined the first as they moved us from Marina balcony to Aloha...no thanks. The Sky upgrade was much better as we got moved from Marina balcony to Marina mini suite.. Have had a mini quite a few times and love them.

  20. Ok so I’m in contact with friends on this ship. They are going to be on this ship for another 14 days. They were supposed to get off and they are now in quarantine. They are ok and not sick but have unpacked their suitcases and are trying to make the best of this situation.

  21. I have a serious gluten and milk allergy. Inform them in the dining room of your allergies and you will get the next nights menu. You can pick out what you want and they will have it for you for the next night. At breakfast, the bread station has gluten free toast and I’m sure there are lots of corn free options as well. They were very helpful and I enjoyed the food a lot.
