  1. Here is my opinion as I asked a somewhat similar question like this earlier. I think but I’m still not sure if you get the alcohol free drink package you are allowed to do get any virgin cocktail.  For example, say you want a virgin mudslide that would  be included. However, you would have to pay extra for a mudslide with the easy package.  But would you have to pay extra for a virgin mudslide with the easy package?  I think I am confusing myself. You limit yourself with the easy package on cocktails. But if they are a virgin cocktail can order any of them?  Based on only paying $12 more I think I’d rather get the easy package so I could have wine or the included cocktails with orvwithourbthe alcohol. And I am still confused if soft serve is included. . Hopefully someone else will respond.

The other wrinkle is you cannot use the alcohol free package in speciality or signature venues according to the website.

Right. Which is ok. The alcohol free pkg  is also supposed to allow for soft serve which is kind of confusing.  I thought I read that was only allowed on the minors pkg and also read it is free. i will find out!

Would you be ordering virgin cocktails? Obviously the non-alcoholic package is not going to cover cocktails with alcohol in them, though you could certainly pay for those.

Bottled water is included with all of the drink packages on MSC.

Yes cocktails without alcohol. So do they have a separate menu for those if you use the alcohol free pkg?  Or if I say virgin mudslide or any other cocktail are there limitations?  Example guess I couldn't say virgin martini haha.

  4. I am thinking of getting the alcohol free  drink package for $196. I’m not much of an alcohol drinker but  I do like a lot of cocktails like mudslide, frozen daiquiris, pina  colada's etc. for the taste. Anyhow, my question is with the alcohol free drink package do they limit you to certain cocktails?  I like the idea of the specialty coffees and pop included but would really enjoy mudslides too.

Also on the list it doesn’t show bottled water. Do you know if that is included?  The list mentions flavored water and I’m not exactly sure what they provide.

if you have gotten this package and have some good ideas on drinks to order without alcohol, please respond!  Thanks!

Makes me wonder if the company that does the upgrades takes things like this into consideration. In other words. cabins being equal between two people, would they give the upgrade to someone that paid for the drink and Wi-Fi package?

Good question. I was kind of wondering if I had a better chance as a solo paying for 2. If the bid was awarded to 2 people in the cabin instead of 1 they would be drinking and eating more for the same price. I would be more profitable.

  6. I booked a bella flash sale, so could not get the drink Wi-Fi package. Recently, I added on Wi-Fi only. I want to bid on a yacht club inside which of course if I won would include Wi-Fi and a drink package. I know if I won the bid based on having that drink Wi-Fi package already included I could not get a refund on those items obviously. But since I booked wifi separately, would I be able to get it refunded?  It seems like I’ve read different answers here previously and would really appreciate a response if it happened to you. Probably the safest thing to do would be to just cancel the Wi-Fi package before I bid on the YC?  I believe I could add it on 2 days before sailing if I don’t win the yacht club bid?

The challenge you would have is that there are no buttons inside the elevator, so you won't have any control over which floor(s) you stop on. So you might not get anywhere near the floor you are hoping to get to by just hopping on a less crowded elevator going in the wrong direction.

    Right!

We have found the exact opposite to happen. Having arrived at the elevators and pressing the desired deck ONCE and being directed to which elevator and how long a wait, then another and another and another passenger pressing for decks going in the same direction: have found the elevator zips on by and does not stop. Perhaps it now knows too many will not fit ? Or the system was over loaded ? Had to take to the stairs a couple of decks to try again.

Good point. I always did the trick on getting on elevators going down when I wanted to go up, but they were all too crowded. Not sure if you can do that on the seaside.

  9. Well, I feel stupid. I just read on FB that you have to push the button for the deck you’re going to on the seaside elevator for as many people as are in your party.  Example if you have four people in your party you push it four times. Apparently there’s a video and instructions and everything that I’ve never really seen or noticed. People were complaining about the elevators being full when they stopped. Never saw this discussed on cruise critic!

My gut is telling me no, probably too powerful, but has anyone used one successfuly on an MSC cruise ship?

They provide one for you. Works good. Don’t allow you to bring your own.

One the Meraviglia in April, for some reason they gave me the two device plan and my husband nothing for our "included" Browse package (upcoming sailing gave us one device each, as expected). It was no big deal though, my husband just had to log in the one time with my credentials to get his phone registered as "my" second device and all worked well from there on out.

BTW, some Android phones will allow you to hotspot wifi, so I am always able to connect other devices (Kindle, laptop, etc.) to my phone and then just have my phone connect to the wifi.

By any chance do you know if this would work with an iphone hotspot for my ipad?  Otherwise i will just use my ipad as the device.

  12. My goodness I couldn’t have worked with a better rep to help me solve my issue with the Bella guarantee balcony I was unhappy with. Personally to pay $728 for an ocean view solo works for me.  However, I really enjoyed the YC once with my 30% myvegas discount.   And of course winning  my YC bid a couple times.  Fantastic experiences!

As I recall, you book physically challenged rooms, don't you?  You should be fine in an oceanview.

My friend I always cruised with was the one who needed the handicap cabins. Now I am cruising solo. We did several YC and I did Aurea solo. Loved it. Will be interesting to be on deck 5!

Best of luck getting your choice of dining.  Depending upon which ship you're on and how full it is, you could have many different time slots which you could be assigned to.  We're currently on the Meraviglia and it could be 530, 730, or 930 in two dining rooms or 600 or 830 in another.  If you choose late, it'll be 830 or 930.  Early could be 530 or 600.  Don't know whether they consider 730 as early or late.

The shows on board are also at 700, 830 and 1000 each evening.  We chose the 700 show after our 530 dinner, so at 745 we have the rest of the evening for other entertainment or consumption of beverages of our choice.

Yeah. Last cruise I was in an Aurea cabin, and that any time dining was fantastic.

  15. Well, I learned something today. I booked a Bella balcony and was assigned Seaside cabin 10005 today.  I was not happy first time booking Bella my fault. I knew I would be under penalty if I rebooked and it would cost me $199. Plus I had booked on a flash sale and the prices are now higher. Also, it is my understanding you cannot request a different cabin when booking Bella.
What I decided to do after talking with the excellent rep was downgrade my booking. I had no idea you could even do this.  I downgraded it to an oceanview (Bella) and received a credit of $140. I’ve never stayed in an ocean view. It will be interesting to see what cabin I am assigned but it couldn’t be as bad as that balcony one in my opinion of course.

Anyhow I did not know you could downgrade without penalty.   From everything I’ve read you had to re-book.

  16. I decided to prepurchase  the $72 one device Wi-Fi for my October cruise and just just discovered that price was up to $111. Yikes. I didn’t know they were going to raise the prices. Does anyone know when they did that?  Trying to think of an alternative.

  17. I called MSC and I rebooked my Seaside October solo balcony cabin using the flash sale pricing. Saved $190!  I did learn that flash sale pricing does not allow you to book a cabin that includes Wi-Fi and drink package. So if you have to add those on, you probably wouldn’t save anything.  What happened was I came across the reduced pricing doing a mock booking but the rep was adamant I didn’t know what I was talking about. She kept telling me I had my figures mixed up.  Fortunately, I figured it out and called again requesting the flash sale price and got a different rep. Worth $190 but it was kind of a hassle.

Anyone know when the NCL discount rewards are coming back? Can only see the $750 off one which is of course sold out.

I am wondering that too. I actually had a $500 off reward that I let expire. Before they stopped offering the $250 and $500 rewards you did have to sail by December 31, 2023. Now all I see is the AK cruises and a AK VIP one they just added. Personally I wish MSC would return with their offers as I had 2 30% off rewards I able to use.

  19. I have a passport. But there is a big discussion going on in one of the social groups for MSC. I have never heard of this

What If My Name Has Changed From My Birth Certificate?

If you’ve had a name change (for example, you changed your name once married) to where it doesn’t match your birth certificate, then you will need to also bring along some proof of the name change.

This can be a marriage license (again, the original or a notarized copy is best) or if you’ve had a name change unrelated to marriage, your documents that prove the change. Carnival says plainly on their website “failure to bring documentation bridging the name differences could result in denial of boarding.”

Does MSC require this?  I know my friend used her drivers license and certified birth certificate with no issues.
