    NCL is heartless!!!!!!!!!!!

Op can certainly do that. However, when you plan a cruise and don’t take insurance you are assuming a risk. Fortunately, most times you will not need the insurance. We have always insured our trips. You just never know when you or a loved one will fall ill. As I said earlier, we had a death in the family while in Europe just prior to a cruise. The cruise, tours, and hotels all had to be canceled. Airfare had to be redone. It was a huge mess and very costly. Our insurance company has a 24 helpline and assisted us with all of this. It took us hours and hours even with their help; plus we were grieving while we were doing it. Over the years, we have spent thousands of dollars on insurance and have been so lucky not to need it until now. We just planned another trip with the expectation that we will get back most, if not all, of the cost of our cancelled trip. Although I am sympathetic and wish OP a successful treatment and speedy recovery, they assumed a risk when they did not insure. Just as they have on this thread, most people will view it that way. 2. Make sure you get in writing that you’ll all be together. That is what you paid for and that is what you deserve. Have your friends call too. Really annoy them! Don’t give up until you get it! You are going to have an amazing time. It’s an incredible trip. Sent from my iPad using Forums
  3. When you get back write a review on here and on trip advisor! Sent from my iPad using Forums
  4. GET IT IN WRITING Even if you have to spend the entire day on the phone!!! Sent from my iPad using Forums
  5. Make sure your luggage is not overweight. You will be charged a fortune. My suggestion is to bring a light-weight, soft bag in your suitcase to keep nonessentials. It good for heavier stuff. We were going to Mitford Sound so we put our coats in there along with other stuff. Princess will store it for you and deliver it to the ship. We did this and it worked out well. PS- on the inter-Australia flights, you will board from outside and have to carry your carry-on up a flight of stairs. Be ready or that. Have stuff to read. They are short flights but only one had entertainment. It was like a bargain tour at non-bargain prices. We love Princess cruises, but would never again take one of their land tours. 6. To fly from Cairns to Ayers Rock we had to get up at 3 in the morning in order to fly back to Sydney and then board a plane for Ayers Rock. We got to Ayers Rock and I was exhausted. That night they took us on a tour of Uluru. Flying dehydrates me and Uluru is in the desert. I was not well and had to drink lots of water. Luckily, I was ok. Our tour guide was cold and unfeeling. Our Alaska cruisetour was wonderful. I think Princess does that in-house. The provider they use for Australia really stinks. Fight with Princess after you get back. Keep detailed notes. It’s an amazing trip. There are some amazing sights to see. Try and have fun. We loved the trip despite the glitches.
  7. Get it fixed by Princess before you leave. Make sure that you are not just on the same tour but with the same guide as well. Do not count on the tour operator for any help. They really stink. I thought Princess might change tour operators after our debacle last year. We are two couples. We’re platinum and they’re elite. We bitterly complained to Princess about our separation. Bob Wood’s incompetence undermines the Princess brand. Make sure you have everything in writing. Even though they very easily could have, the tour group leaders refused to put us together. Let us know how it turns out. Good luck! Sent from my iPad using Forums

  10. We had this happen to us last year. At least we were on parallel tours just different buses and group leaders. The tour operator in Australia refused to fix it. They said Princess had to do it from corporate. Princess said the tour operator could have fixed it.Hope you’re luckier than we were. At least you know beforehand. We didn’t find out until we got to orientation.Good luck🤞 Sent from my iPad using Forums

    NCL is heartless!!!!!!!!!!!

We recently had a terrible experience . My FIL died and we had to get home from Rome ASAP. Just put all the paperwork into AIG. We’re been on dozens of cruises and always took insurance but never needed it. I hope it pays the thousands of dollars associated with the cruise cancellation and redoing the air. The forms were daunting and the proof they wanted was voluminous. I think I sent them almost 30 pages of stuff. They made us sign a release of records for a dead man! It will all be worth it if they pay! Sent from my iPad using Forums

paying $50 when using VO air

I suggest you pick your flights before calling Viking and paying the $50 per person. I know there are certain airlines that Viking works with and I confined my search to those in the hopes that I wouldn’t have to pay extra. This was suggested to me on CC ( I learn a lot on this site lol)That worked! Viking did charge us $200 per person to stopover and it was more to upgrade to Delta Comfort. Even with all that we saved lots of money off the regular economy fare listed on Delta’s website. Please, do your homework as there are some really good deals out there and Viking isn’t always cheaper. Sent from my iPad using Forums

paying $50 when using VO air

I did pay the $50 for Viking Air Plus and it was very well worth it. I priced the itinerary we wanted on the Delta website and it would have been double the price of Viking. We selected to fly Delta Comfort so we had to pay for the whole trip when we booked the air. Even with Delta Comfort and a stopover we saved almost $1000 per ticket. It’s an even better deal because it includes two our of our three transfers. Viking insurance covers the air when you do it through them. For our Rhine Getaway Trip, the Air was not such a good deal and we did it ourselves. You have to do the research. Sent from my iPad using Forums
  14. We enjoy doing private excursions with other CC members. The ones we did have worked quite well. They are cheaper, smaller and more personalized. We only join excursions that guarantee to get us back to the ship on time or that end well before sail away. It can be quite costly to get from one port to the next even though you may not have a far distance to travel. It happened to people we know and it was an ordeal we would not like to experience. We would not consider it an adventure to be stuck in a port without clothing or other essentials. Sent from my iPad using Forums
  15. I live in NY and love the city. I recommend you spend all of Monday downtown. I like the SI ferry plan. In addition to Federal Hall, you should see Trinity Church. Many famous people, including Alexander Hamilton, are buried there. I suggest that you stay downtown, since you are already there. Besides what’s on your list, you can go to Little Italy, Chinatown,Battery Park or South Street Seaport -take your pick. For Tuesday, forget the library and go to St. Pats,Top of the Rock and take your carriage ride. This is just my two cents. You’ll have fun no matter what you do. You’re right about the Hoho bus. Definitely, take the subway. Enjoy your trip. Sent from my iPad using Forums
