For us the food is a little off in the MDR Club Class , than it used to be. Even from this past November on the & same ship (Grand).    Entertainment is off also compared to last November.
Very few wearing masks & no social distancing.   Just a feeling I have been having is that this ship is hoping that everyone will come down with Covid, because of the kind of activities they are having.  For instance they had a 50s & 60s event the other night @ 8:30 in the Explorer’s Lounge, which was not listed as a party, but was stated so once it started.  (We thought it was going to be a game show).Very very over crowded, (standing room only)  no mention of masking, super encouraging everyone to sing along, pulling people down to the already crowded dance floor .  Also lots of extra doors are closed so everyone leaving or passing in show rooms & hallways are thrown together.  Makes no sense, but that’s just me & my opinion.  Can they save $ if everyone gets a light case of Covid, then they don’t have to worry about quarantining anyone.?

    Interesting opinion

Snacks from their home country.......spot on!

Before each cruise I stop at an international market and buy candies from several countries.

You should see the huge smiles when I slip a candy to someone as I pass by and they realize that it's from home. I constantly get asked, "Where did you find this!?" I'm schlepping 2 kilos worth of goodies with me for our cruise next week, and I can't wait to start passing them out.

This is a WONDERFUL idea. Of course they appreciate the tips the most but this is a grand idea.

  3. We just got off the 5 day to Ensenada. The second night of the cruise was formal. It was a mixed bag of fancy dress to very formal. Don't remember seeing any tuxes. There were also only around 451 passengers which probably effected dress.

Not sure what's up with CC. Just tried to post that we're seeing whales from our balcony, and the post went off into the ozone.

Oh how exciting about the whales. It is late in the season for the whales. We sail out next Sunday after your sailing. Please post loads of updates but make your trip the priority.

I so know how that goes (posts disappearing into the ether).

Someone asked for a live thread, then it was brought up in the roll call as well — but most seemed to want to do post cruise comments, so I went ahead and started (and hope more roll call members will join in).  Most 3/4 nighters would get kind of lost, but I think since this one was the start of the California Coastal season post covid, there was interest.  They are hard to do, primarily due to poor internet.  We don’t often get the internet package, but knew this time I would have at least some service each port.  Glad you enjoyed it 🙂

We are looking forward to Celebrity, especially since being docked next to the Edge.  Being brand flexible gives a lot more date/itinerary options if you are looking for something specific.

    You will love celebrity

This is very different from how this situation is handled on Celebrity.   The cruise director came on the intercom and directed passengers and crews to make sure our companions were with us and if anyone was missing from our groups to call him on a certain number and he would page that person. Apparently the crew is divided into small "family" units and they know to look for each other during an emergency.  About 7 names were reported and called over the intercom by the cruise director with instructions to call him on a specific phone number and identify themselves immediately. Some names were only called once or twice.  When the 7th name was called the second time, you could tell from the cruise director's voice that he knew the person and was upset.  He called for that person at least 5 times over a half hour and we all knew that must be who had gone overboard.  It turned out to be a crew member who worked in the galley, unfortunately.  The ship searched for hours  until the French Coastguard joined the search and then went on to Southampton where we arrived only an hour late for debarkation.   The crew member was never found.

It is interesting to me how this process is handled so differently by different cruise lines.

How very sad and thanks for sharing

    My servers were servers. Period.

Completely different than anyone in the show. They do come into the restaurant, but while I was there it was just the 2 guys in my video. They only interacted if you engaged them. Nothing was forced.

(And as for “Disney meets Avatar, Pandora is my favorite land in Animal Kingdom, so that is so far from an insult in my world.)

I love your kind way of “informing” the less informed.  You must be a great teacher. We need more humans like you in the world!!!  I don’t have the patience.

The lady told us she was from a “weird” place.  She was talking like a baby!  She was wearing a costume.  I was on the ship new years week last  year.  Hopefully it has improved!   Maybe we will try again if not disney meets avitar

I did not see any servers doing “schtick” - they explained the menu, yes. But nothing silly or invasive that I saw. Perhaps they have changed since you went.

I found my food excellent - and as for limited, that is the type of restaurant it is. I would never choose to spend money on the steakhouse as I can go to a steakhouse on land. I cannot have the Eden experience on land.

Now LPC to me seems full of schtick and silliness - and extremely limited menu, especially if you want your food to “match”. And yet it and the steakhouse were 100% sold out on my sailing.

    Different strokes.

    Amen!!

    Okay, okay, okay... T.

I will go ahead and do my review by this weekend... given those stats I need to just go ahead and register my thoughts and experiences (good or poor) about The Edge and IV's.

Nothing like first hand experiences shared that make it overall worthwhile reading.. 😎

    bon voyage

Let us know when you post the review

  11. We just got off from the TA.   No worries.  I was also concerned but the ship is in great shape.  I have only sailed the S class ships and was a bit worried.  Yes some of the areas need to be updated but that is only in scheme, not in maintenance.  I didn't see any worn upholstery etc.  I think the pool loungers were even new.  The major issue is the ship needs to be painted.  There are many rust spots but if you realize that, you will be fine.   After all, you are at sea.
