  1. I just saw on the Port Everglades schedule that the Allure is leaving terminal 18 at 11am Sunday 11/4 and Reflection is arriving there at 11:30am.  That must be what you are referring to.  I assume Reflection leaves after the evacuation and Allure comes back for the departing passengers on 11/4.   Wow!

  2. Hubby reminded me that they did have to track it down a couple of times when requested at Tuscan and one time told not available at Ensemble.

Not consistent but perhaps if more people request it they will offer more choices [emoji41]

  3. This is all about LLP's feel good nonsense -- same with the doing away with plastic straws. Basically, it's all "much ado about nothing."

You can tell by all the responses on this thread and on the past plastic straw threads -- It's all psychological -- makes people feel good and warm & fuzzy, and it seems to be working.

That's my personal opinion, and I'm sticking to it.

  4. For those who may not be aware...the current Hemingways is closing in September 2018. The property has been sold and will undergo renovations. It is uncertain whether the new owners will reopen to the public after the transition with the facilities available as is or only operate as a private resort/hotel like it has been in the past.

I received this information from the current team at Hemmingways after I emailed asking for information about visiting in November this year. If you plan to visit this fall I recommend you email them using the contact information on their website to check the closing date closer to your planned visit.

  5. In case there is an earlier departure time due to weather or other issues guest services would call you. Plus we told our cabin steward we were off the ship overnight ( not where ) and she was very happy we did. Left her note in cabin She knew our habits after 7 days and said would’ve been worried if bed not slept in and towels unused next day

    Just common courtesy

  6. Hi, we also booked a room on our March cruise which had an overnight in Aruba. We went to the hotel as she described, checked in and since very early we were able to get loungers on the Flamingo Beach side.

We've been there multiple times and had always enjoyed the peace and quiet...swimming, chair side lunch and drinks This time is was a mad house. College spring break people swarming everywhere and trying to get photos with the clearly annoyed or freaked out flamingos. the poor flamingos have clipped wings so no where to fly away.

Constantly taking selfies for their Facebook or other social media since they posed like crazy. Super model angles. It was hysterical except they were loud and took away from the private island relaxing time we wanted to have.

After a couple of hours we left our loungers and went over and had lunch at the family side and then went back to the hotel. Outdoor pool at family building of hotel was also loud with DJ screaming and wall to wall kids in the pool.

We actually spent the night at the hotel (after making sure Guest Services on the ship knew where we were going to be.) The room was blah and as she mentioned the Happy Hour was a little fun.

the next morning we agreed that we have had our fill of the not so private island and won't be back. We were happy to be back on the ship and our balcony. It was not just the Spring Break atmosphere it just seemed to have lost its charm overall.

    Just our experience!

  7. Wow, where do some folks get their information?

CARNIVAL has just re-committed to Jacksonville where they have been sailing from for many years, not Celebrity.

Cruises out of Port Canaveral are hardly all for the budget-minded. We paid quite handsomely for our Oasis of The Seas cruise last year compared to what we have paid previously for cruises out of For Lauderdale and Bayonne.

And someone needs to explain to my bank account that when Celebrity sailed out of Charleston that I paid a deeply-discounted fare. Hardly the case. I would love to see X come back to Charleston as I am 20 minutes from the port. It is a very small, albeit vocal minority that have fought against our local cruise business. Primarily its a bunch of snotty elitists that moved to Charleston from up north and are obsessed with fighting against tourism. To me, it is not unlike moving to Orlando and complaining about the tourists. No logic whatsoever.

Absolutely right about Charleston. We hate having the old Carnival ships here no matter how they dress them up but the port fights are ongoing with no end in sight.

Bermuda cruises from Charleston would work given the distance

and Carnival has this route a couple of times a year

  8. Hi Noreen,

Thanks for your detailed review. We are on the same itinerary in late November this year so appreciate you observations.

Also we drive to Florida for all of our cruises and never fly. I used to for business but a few bad experiences and the hassles with flying now made the driving a win for us. We love the road trips (except the last couple of hours on Florida toll roads and crazy traffic).

Looking forward to your next installments!

  9. I believe the Captain has option of 2 or 3 Chic nights according to other cruisers comments. Also which days based on port times and sea days. Just what has been reported but can’t confirm.

My hubby wore tux on 14 day Caribbean cruise and I wore cocktail sequined dresses. Just our preference. Sometimes he wears ivory jacket with short sleeved camp shirt (Cuban style)
