Just before my Thanksgiving cruise, I learned a fact about Classic versus Premium packages. The bartenders will mix drinks from the Classic list, UNLESS (if you're Premium) request a specific brand. Therefore, I request Tito's in my vodka drinks and other Premium brands as the day progresses.

I agree that you may want to wait a few days into our cruise (late April) to determine if you want to upgrade to Premium. I look forward to seeing you at the Meet n' Greet!

My friends and I will return to Cape Liberty on a Sunday Morning. Lowest cost flight out of EWR is at 4:40 p.m. What is recommended for how we spend our time before the flight, with large luggage in hand?

I made advanced reservations for Anytime dining for every night at 6:30 on the Celebrity website. We were seated at the same or nearby table each night, so we had the same wait staff. That's the good news. The bad news is the Silly has signs designating two lines, one for reservations and one for walk ins. They IGNORE the signs and do just one line, regardless of reservation status! I spoke with the Maitre' D about this process (as I am a LEAN professional who specializes in process improvement). I hope they will address this accordingly.

We rented an Alcove on a port day on the Silhouette last November. It was hot, my friend barely joined me and it was lonely. We had other friends meet us up there for a drink, but it was "get your own" from the Sunset bar. I saw two different attendants only three times the entire day.

They face inward, so you can stare at the people in the Alcoves across from you. You are also stared at by passengers walking around the deck that surrounds you.

I probably won't do an Alcove again....sitting on my balcony is much better!

I always buy travel insurance. On my very first cruise in 2013, I tripped and fractured my left foot. What a blessing to have that insurance in my back pocket!

I agree with the above posters. Please know that antibiotics will have NO effect on the flu! The flu is a virus, not bacteria (which antibiotics treat). Definitely pack and use hand sanitizer, keep your hands from your face, obey the 3-foot rule and bring OTC medications that will relieve some symptoms.

As for salt and pepper shakers, carry tissues to pick them up, or spray them with hand sanitizer before using. Also in the buffet, use hand sanitizer AFTER getting your food and BEFORE you eat. Hope this helps.

I agree with all of the posters. I've sailed Carnival and now am hooked on Celebrity. My friend and I sailed the Silhouette over Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time! Be sure to participate in the Silent Disco--it is SO much fun and free! The only thing I wouldn't do again in the future is rent an Alcove on the top deck. Even at the $99 port day discount, it's too much money to spend looking across the grass at the other alcoves when there are equally nice, breezy spots on the ship. The Silly is my favorite cruise ship and I'm looking forward to sailing the Summit this Spring!

Add Priority Check in and pre-disembarkation lounge with coffee, tea and continental breakfast. I would never sail in a cabin less than Concierge. The embarkation lunch in MDR is very nice and the afternoon canapés are small, but welcome.

We are on the 31st of March thanks for the advice just I’m driving down from Orlando as I’m going no to the magic vs bull game in Orlando the evening before and trying to work out times as I’ve got to take the hire car back to Miami airport and get on the shuttle advice seems to be drop me wife off at the cruise terminal the take the car back but she’s not to happy about that but just gonna see what time we have on the day I think I’m going to leave Orlando at 6am that should leave me plenty of time

You should be just fine driving from Orlando to Miami in approximately 4 to 4.5 hours. Your plan sounds great!

I have sailed RCI and Celebrity numerous times. Passengers tend to dress a little nicer in the MDR every night on Celebrity. RCI's diners tend to the more casual, even on so-called "formal" nights. Personally, I prefer dressing a little nicer for dinner and like the MDR atmosphere better on Celebrity. Hope this helps.

In Ft. Lauderdale, we always use Park n' Go. Great service, they drop you off and pick you up at the pier and there's no waiting for either the shuttle or your car.

May I suggest Park n' Go? We sailed the Silhouette over Thanksgiving and experienced bottlenecks getting through Security and checking in. Park n' Go will drop you right at the port without the shuttle hassle.

I agree with attending the daily Friends of Bill W. meetings, as well as staying active. Cruising is akin to summer camp for adults. There is always something to do at any time of the day or evening. Longer cruises have passengers less likely to "booze cruise" and more likely to enjoy things other than drinking.

Celebrity has so many wonderful culinary choices, so many fun classes and games and shows. They also have a card/game room that is fun to hang out in and play with other passengers.

Lots of people don't drink alcohol on cruises. Your companion will not be alone.

We were on the Silly over Thanksgiving (2 weeks ago). The World Bar is on Deck 5, Cellar Masters is also on Deck 5. Quasar has a bar as well.

Other bar choices include the Passport Bar on Deck 3, Ensemble Bar on Deck 5, Café Al Bacio on Deck 4 (?), Café Al Bacio 2 in the Oceanview Café on Deck 14, the Casino Bar on Deck 4, Mast Bar on Deck 14, Sunset Bar on Deck 15 and the Martini Bar/Crush on Deck 4(?). All of the restaurants have drink lists as well. I especially enjoyed Sushi on 5 and QSine's drinks.

Yes, it's a great feature. It prevents one from having to turn on the bathroom light in the middle of the night when you don't want to wake up your friend in the cabin.

I highly recommend Park n' Go! Celebrity's current pier is under construction and they have deferred to other piers, both of which require shuttles to and from the mid-port parking garage. Park n' Go is much less expensive, and their service is amazing!

We were there on Thanksgiving too. The Celebrity Silhouette docked in Crown Bay, which is a very small port with no restaurants and a few shops open. We took a taxi on a harrowing ride up to Mountaintop. Half of the store is roped off with damaged merchandise from the hurricanes. No food available. We made some purchases to support their economy and returned to the ship as fast as we could. The island looked the same way our town did the day after Irma, only months later in their case.

Paradise Point and the skyride remain closed, as well as all of the hotels on the island not housing relief workers.

I pray for everyone on St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix.

I was on the same cruise as Sandy and can report a similar experience. The port has no tenders, so we had to tender into Cap Cana via lifeboats. The rides to and from were hot and we had rocky seas.

We purchased day passes at a resort located about 20 minutes' drive from the port. Security in the port and the resort was heavy.

Like Sandy, I don't mind passing this port in the future. It's not quite ready for cruise passengers just yet.

There are several resorts in Punta Cana that offer day passes. My friend and I have reservations at one resort there for our upcoming cruise.

I've done the Riedel tasting and loved it! Even though I'm an avowed "Cork Dork", there is always something to learn about wine. Yes, this class is about the difference between glass and crystal, as well as the importance of shape of the glass for the particular wine.

We cruise in 9 days and I cannot book a Beach Bungalow. It says Online reservations are not available, please check onboard. It has said the same thing for at least 4 or 5 months..... Does anyone know if this means they're sold out? Or can you just not book online period? I've searched quite a few threads and everyone seems to have booked online so I'm just curious if we missed the chance and need to re-evaluate what to do.

We were able to purchase a bungalow on the island last February. They had one left and they provided wrist bands, towels, water, etc. for us. The bar was nearby and a less-crowded buffet was near us as well. The attendants did a wonderful job keeping wanderers from entering the area. I hope you can experience this...happy cruising!

Good information! The first thing I do on EVERY cruise is wipe down everything in my cabin with antibacterial wipes. Always practice hand hygiene when the hand sanitizer is offered and in public areas. Wash or sanitize your hands before and after touching your face or using the bathroom. The cruise line has processes in place to address any outbreaks, so be sure to do your part to prevent this from happening and enjoy your cruise!

I have always been offered choices of multi-night specialty dining packages when I board the ship. My cruise planner only has the 7-night package, and I trust we will be offered a 5-night package during the Concierge Embarkation lunch. No worries....

Yep, per our roll call discussion and this thread, Celebrity has not updated their website with the new itinerary. I'm still waiting for my TA to get back in town and confirm this info. I hope Celebrity will update the website soon, in order for my family staying at home to track my whereabouts when we cruise.
