  1. I want to say we headed back to the ship around 1:00. Which gave us time to catch the bus and yes traffic was heavier on the way back. And we did have some time for shopping between getting off the bus and boarding the tender. We had a good 4 hours or so at the farm and that was good for us.

  2. We just got back from New Orleans and we used premium parking which we booked ahead of time. We paid $15 for the day and used the lot at 535 Chartres. It was a very convenient location near the French quarter. I would recommend it.

We had young kids so we did City Park and we did a carriage tour of the quarter which was neat. We ate at Crescent City Brewhouse, Dragos, Court of Two Sisters and had beignets at Morning Call. All were excellent!

  3. We just got back from the turtle farm with a 6 and 4 year old. We spent the day there and had a great time. We did the entire park which has a great pool area. There is also a small beach area by the lagoon where you can snorkel. It was easy to do on our own. We took a taxi to the farm and just took the public bus back. The bus stop is right outside the farm. We were in port 7-4 which when you consider tenders is more like 8-3. You could easily do just the turtle tanks then head to the beach but in my opinion the farm was a great place to spend the day! Have fun!

  4. We went to Junkanoo in Freeport. Not a fan of the Nassau Junkanoo. But Freeports was awesome. It was a short taxi ride and if I remember right free or a small entrance fee we bought food and drink. I'll try to look through my pictures and find more info!

  5. I will be on your cruise with my 6 and 4 year old girls so glad to hear you have girls the same ages coming! We were on the Dream last spring break and my girls LOVED the kids program! They have activities all day, late night parties, movie nights... Always something to do. You have to sign them in and out with your sail and sign card so it is very safe. They also give you a cell phone for the little ones so they can call you if there are any problems. Happy cruising maybe we will see you at the kids club :)

  6. In my experience I try to plan some later nights for my kiddos when we have a sea day the next day, so they can get some extra rest if needed. When we have a port day the next day I try to get them laid down closer to normal time. But I think once you get on the ship you'll be able to read your child and if they need some more rest.

Also even at 3 I would say to bring a small umbrella stroller. It is easy to push them around the ship and your kiddo may fall asleep and take a little stroller nap, while you can still sit outside and enjoy the ship :) also handy in ports, I know my now 4 year old would still fall asleep in her stroller when headed back to the ship after a day in port when she was 2-3 years old.

Most of all have fun and enjoy every minute! My kids love cruising!! Yours will too I'm sure!

  7. Thank you! I did decide to just stick with COTS it looks more our style :) especially with the kids. We will just have more time to explore!

Thanks for the city park tips. It looked like the actual park was still a good walk from the streetcar drop. We will just drive. And we will definitely do the train ride and do Morning Call. I really appreciate the tips!

  8. Hey nolatravelgirl another question maybe you can help me with. The Saturday before our cruise we are going to take our kids to the Easter egg hunt at city park. Does the streetcar go all the way to the park or would it be better to drive there? We will have a car at our hotel. We are staying at the drury if that helps it looks to be right on one of the streetcar lines. Thanks in advance!!

  9. Good suggestion I didn't think about the earlier mass. We have faster to the fun so should get right off the ship. I realize everything will be busy, but I hate to just head home when we can spend the holiday in New Orleans, doubt we will have that opportunity again. So trying to figure out the best logistics. I appreciate the help!

  10. Thank you! We are planning to do the earliest parade, I think it's called the historic French quarter parade.

We have already made reservations at Court of Two Sisters for 1:00. :)

Do you know if we leave the car at the port parking, does the riverfront streetcar run to the French quarter? Also if the streetcar is very far from the terminal?

  11. We are disembarking the Dream on Easter Sunday and want to take our kids to the Easter parade. I'm looking for suggestions on the best place to park and best place to watch the parade. We also plan to attend 11:00 mass at the Cathedral so if there is a spot close to that as well would be handy! We will have our car at the cruise terminal garage, if it is feasible we could leave it there and take the streetcar to the parade? Our first time in NOLA I appreciate any advice!
