Does Carnival allow you to carry your own bags and "walk" off on your own instead of leaving bags out the night before and getting an assigned debarkation time?  We always carry our own bags and walk of very early on RCCL and Celebrity.

Yes. But you will wait in common areas and be called off by deck number of where your cabin was.

We'll be on a 2 week cruise to Central American and Caribbean on CCL Legend.  I know we can each bring on a bottle of wine when we board in Tampa, but can we bring on a bottle at each port along the way?  If not, how closely do they check your bags?

No, not to drink on board. Only at embarkation. I am sure it's been done (against the policy), but I have no advice on how.

You can bring alcohol on from port, declare it, and they store it and give it to you at the end of the cruise.

Every sale comes with the stipulation that ports can change with no compensation.
I don't see it as a problem. If you are booking today, they are not only covered by that, but anyone planning travel should be aware by now that this situation may affect their travel.

There is no port that I am aware of that has totally closed to Carnival at this point.

Correct. No matter who you book the cruise through.

I do have sympathy for the OP with regard to how the Carnival employee on the phone reacted. I know they are probably pretty stressed right now, because like I said, this is hard on everyone. But that sure didn't help the situation any.

I totally agree amy. In fact, I firmly believe the destination port authorities don't even know if they will let ships debark until right when the ship gets into port, because they haven't made up their minds yet. And that totally isn't Carnival's fault.

Yes. It's very hard on everyone. Those ports depend on cruise revenue. But also imagine being a resident of a port, especially an island where many do not have the means to leave, knowing that an influx of people from all over are coming in on a regular basis.

I was told by my PVP that Carnival is taking it on a week by week basis.  As of last night my itinerary for March 15th of the Horizon has NOT changed yet.

The ports are controlling who they are or are not letting in, and Carnival's decisions are based on that. The situation has been fluid, so I can certainly understand that they would not know for future cruises. Even day to day would be tough right now.

Was a 1-800 person. We aren't 4 time per year cruisers and plan our one vacation per year through discount websites. Probably why I'm overly worried as this is our 1 shot per year at a vacation and now the cruise line has info they aren't willing to share.

You don't have to cruise a lot to have a PVP. But totally understandable if you would rather not have one.

I would have asked to talk to a supervisor. The email she was referencing may be the one someone posted on CC this morning. Did you read that post? If not, you should go see if you can find that.

Was just on the phone with Carnival with questions about my upcoming cruise. She mentioned an itinerary change and asked if I had gotten the email. I said no and she quickly changed the subject and wouldn't answer questions about it. It is the deceptiveness that is disappointing. I'm like others, we don't want to cancel or move cruises. We all book vacations because we want to go, but when a company is unreasonable, it makes you quickly reconsider who you do business with.

Was this a random person at the end of an 800 number, or do you have a PVP? If it was a PVP, change your PVP.

When you shore excursions tickets delivered to your stateroom, look very carefully at the those tickets. Most likely, they will be something that says meet in the theater (or some lounge) 15-30 minutes before 9am.  In the theater (or some lounge), they will put in your in the right group. When ship is fully docked and allow people to disembark,, they should be staff around to help you get off the ship quicker

IF it's a Carnival excursion. I never got an answer to that.

Anyway, OP solved the problem by opting for Day 2 in Bermuda instead of morning of arrival.

Thanks for explaining this.  I never had the times be the same before.  My friend will be totally stressed with arriving at the same time as excursion leaving, but I'll show her your answer.   She's had two years of stress with husbands illness and I want this cruise to be as stress free as possible for her.

This is probably a better plan for her.   We can do a catamaran snorkel and swim excursion the second day in Bermuda at 9 am and back at noon for a 3 pm departure.   Since I've been to Bermuda before, that will give her a full day to explore Hamilton and St. George on the first day.    I've been to Horseshoe Bay and Hamilton, but not St. George.

That sounds like a great plan.

If we are scheduled to arrive in Bermuda at 9 am, why would excursions start at 9 am?

First, is it a Carnival excursion or private?

Often you get in a bit earlier and hopefully the ship clears and you can get off at 9. Carnival will guarantee or you will get your money back for the excursion. Private tour operators know when the ships get in each day and when people start disembarking. It's in their best interest. As long as you get off reasonably quickly and don't just hang out and dawdle or something, they should be waiting for you. Even if a particular tour gets payment up front, they want your tips. They want you on the tours.

So I am slightly more awake now than when I posted but I went back and looked.

I see GUY'S PIG & ANCHOR BAR-B-QUE is open for lunch.  No mention of dinner.  Is this ala carte dinner time or just a flat fee?

You have to know which ship you are talking about. The BBQ stand outside on some ships (which is Guy's Pig and Anchor) is only open for lunch on embarkation day and sea days. It is free. There is no dinner.

Horizon and Panorama (probably upcoming ships also) have replaced the sit down Red Frog Pub (NOT the Red Frog Rum Bar outside, but the full service sit down bar and pub inside) with the Guys Pig and Anchor Smokehouse - which is where the brewery is. i.e., there is no Red Frog Pub on Horizon or Panorama. There is instead a full service Guy's BBQ sit down venue. Free at lunch. Charges for dinner in similar fashion as JiJis and Cucina on other ships that have those. But apparently must be testing a free dinner option.

TMZ sometimes appears as a sketchy or questionable source due to the types of stories they report but, generally, they do get the story right. I just don't know where they got that information on Carnival, especially in the absence of any other publicly available stories to back it up.

I agree. It's freaky how accurate they can be before anyone else has the story.

Someone asked about sparkling mineral water.

is that different than sparkling water? I asked the bartender in the atrium yesterday about

sparkling mineral water and she said sparkling water we have San benesomethingto. Is that different? Someone mentioned bubbly. I see these at the coffee shop so I’d like to know which you’re talking about. I just drink

    bottled water preferably spring myself.

    San Pellegrino.

I apologize for posting this question, as I'm sure it's somewhere already, but I can't find it in the search.

Anyone have a report? We are leaving on the Legend next weekend.

Saint Greg's live review happening now shows a picture of the luggage tag. About as current as you can get!

Feeling a little worried.  Booked a 12:05 noon flight out of Baltimore after our upcoming Pride cruise.  Anyone have any recent info regarding debarkation times being earlier than 10 am?

    Thanks.

Often depends on what deck you are on. We were on one of the last decks called on the Vista last month, and we would not have made a flight that early. Customs was a cluster, so we were not out of the terminal until I think nearly 11:00.

I was just reading a reddit thread on this and it’s confusing. They booted a RCL ship from Costa Maya bc of the reroute? I’m so confused. What was this itinerary supposed to be? Cayman/Jamaica/coz? And it’s becoming what instead? Half day at CM then Belize and Key West??

We have no confirmed information. More will come later.

I have cruised over 25 years and never had this problem, so I thought I would ask.

I just read that one of Carnival's ships was to go to Jamaica (one of the ports we are to go to in two weeks), but they changed the plan because of the Coronaviris.  My question, if this happens to us, does Carnival make up the difference in any way, or do anything (??) because of not cruising to the planned port, or do we just chocked it up to the Coronaviris?

You would be refunded port fees if it becomes a sea day, or charged different ones if it went to a new port. But missed ports are part of the cruise game, so typically no compensation otherwise. Unless you somehow got very, very lucky.
