It will depend on your cabin steward.  I purchased the 10 items package for our recent cruise and used it to have items ironed on the first day.  At first I was told ‘No’ but I told the steward that I’d done it before and he got it done for me.

Thanks Beamafar, we are in NYC for 3 days prior to boarding, so I’m sure we will have 10 items by the 2nd or 3rd day, we travel carry on only, so would probably need 10 items early and 10 items later. Not sure if it would matter, but we are in YC.

  2. Wife and I are taking an 11 night cruise on MERAVIGLIA later this year. I know MSC offers 10, 20,40 pieces of laundry packages.

If I get a 10 piece package and wife gets 10 piece package, does that allow us to have 10 garments cleaned early in the cruise and 10 later in the cruise?

Serms like it would but just checking to see if anyone has had experience!!

    Thanks in advance!!

So far sailed just on Preziosa and Virtuosa (and on Grandiosa in a week's time).

We loved both buyt probably just preferred the Preziosa. Main reason the atrium areas are lively and fun but it felt on Virtuosa you just didn't have as many distinct unique spaces as you did on the Preziosa they sort of merge into one.

Anyone got any experience of the older ships like the Musica or Armonia? They kept nice or a bit dull?

We sailed Sinfonia in 2019, 12 night Mediterranean cruise.  The ship was nice, spent a lot of time in the Irish pub. We were in a “suite” deck 12 forward, had a dining area for suite guests for breakfast and lunch, not sure about dinner, as we asked to be seated in main dining area.

Would definitely cruise again on the smaller ships, get to actually meet and talk with other cruisers!

The YC is definitely not in our budget. (Plus, I just checked, and YC interiors are already sold out for that week.) We need to work with the school calendar. Will it be less of a party ship cruise if we travel during the summer vs. spring break? Or do all the shorter itineraries have the same vibe?

As a side note, IMO, it may be easier to fly into Orlando and shuttle to Port Canaveral than Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. Which to me would be a plus for Seashore.

My husband and I just applied for our passports on April 13th and they took our original birth certificates and gave us photocopies.  Im worried that we wont get our originals back before our cruise on May 21st. I'm very anxious and stressed about this!  I live in Florida, but I was born in California.  I have gone onto many sites to get a copy of my birth certificate, but they state at least 5 weeks.  Rescheduling our cruise is NOT an option at this point.  Anyone know if these will be accepted, and if not where or what site I can go to purchase a copy of my birth certificate?  Thank you for your info!

I’ve never tried to use a copy of a birth certificate, but I do not think they will accept it. You usually need a certified copy or original. You would also have to go through Customs upon disembarkation, and they probably won’t accept the copy.

You might try calling the county (health dept?) in which you were born to see if they have a faster process you could receive.

You can try calling MSC and ask, good luck on that, or call U.S. Customs and ask.

    Good Luck!!

Was looking at renting a regular cabana.  Says up to six people but picture shows only two lounge chairs.  Is there only two or six?

Not sure about the regular cabanas, but yacht club have a large sofa looking loungers.
I think this photo is a regular cabana.

    Check YouTube for videos.

Are the umbrellas free (first come/first serve) or should I plan on renting one?  Thanks!

I believe the umbrellas are free, never used one though.

There are plenty of Youtube videos of Ocean Cay that can give you an idea of the  beaches, etc.

Hi i have mixed replies so im hoping that someone has been to Lighthouse beach can confirm for me wether they only have beanbag and chairs for relaxing on ? I cannot walk far so this sounds like the nearest beach i need a bed lounger rather than a chair/beanbag chair can you confirm there are bed loungers and umberellas in this area many thanks in advance

Given your needs and limitations, you may want to check into getting a cabana.  They offer the best seating options and also shade, as the island has little shade other than umbrellas.  I don’t think you can choose the cabana, but the 4 times I’ve been on Ocean Cay, the cabanas are mostly unused. Thus guest services might can get you a convenient location.

Has anyone taken or seen someone take cornhole boards onto the ship? Not sure if it is allowed but the group of us would sure love it. Any suggestions?

I have seen ship supplied Cornhole on some cruise lines, can’t remember which though.

Sort of reminds me of the guy asking about taking a grill on some post a long time ago!!

This may sound a silly topic 😳, but we've been upgraded to a balcony stateroom for an upcoming cruise, which is great, we're delighted, but in this new one there is an interconnecting door. I've read that it can mean a lot of noise can be heard from next door, so I'm looking at soundproofing it, without causing damage by ripping off paint after taking tape away, if I was to tape the gaps.

I've found a magnetic tape on Amazon, which I'm thinking may do the trick, assuming the door is metal. Any thoughts?

The doors would be metal, not wood.

We have had connecting cabins in the past and never heard our neighbors.  Maybe they weren’t rowdy or loud people, but never heard them.

In YC interior, how close would I be to deck area? I could give up the balcony if I just go out my door and walk a few steps. If it's long hallway to get there, maybe not.

You would only be a couple of floors from the YC interior cabins to the 19th deck YC pool deck.  Look at the deck plans to see if the cabins are too far from the elevators or stairs.

My last cruise was in October and after that cruise we were about 1,800 points from Diamond.  When I printed my cruise ticket today it had me listed as Diamond Member and I logged into my Voyagers account and it said I had 10,000 points and was Diamond.  I have no idea how these points were added and I got moved up.  Anyone have any idea why this occurred?  Not complaining but I am just curious.

Lucky you, I’m still trying to get my points from a January cruise!

Does the Meraviglia have any "hump cabins"? Are there any deluxe balcony rooms that are larger than other rooms in the same category?

Maybe post the question one more time and the genie will answer!

We have never been to Ocean Cay. Which beach area is better for adults? We would like some waves in the water so is Sunset Beach or Lighthouse Bay better? I assume the lagoon is calm water. Where can we snorkel right off the beach?  (not an excursion) Thank you!!

The lagoon is usually calm, Sunset Beach, Bimini Beach, Lighthouse Beach would get wave action.   I’ve never snorkeled at Ocean Cay though.

Greetings to all.  Was going to book a cruise on the IOS when a Meraviglia cruise came to my attention and intrigued me. Have cruised on IOS, but never cruised MSC and know nothing of Meraviglia.  Which would you choose if ports were not important?

If you have been on IOS, go ahead, let your hair down and give Meraviglia a go. MSC offers several pricing options to fit any budget.

There are many youtube videos of Mera, these should help you decide if it would work for you!

Has anyone been on the Meravigilia in a partial view balcony cabin?  Any idea how partial the view is in 14079??

    Thank you

Youtube has a video of 14076, on the starboard side. Might answer your question. Search: MSC Meraviglia Cabin 14076

Have you been in an inside cabin?  Curious as to whether or not they are any bigger than a regular inside cabin.

We were in YC inside on Meraviglia in January, I would say that the cabin is not any bigger than other inside cabins. The bathrooms are also small compared to YC deluxe suites. You do get all of the conveniences of the YC though!

I'd love it if they acquired a second ship; love it even more if it was homeported in close-by (for me) Port Canaveral. But if such a ship operated every other day, I don't know how it could be done because some days at Port Canaveral are fully booked with other ships so I don't know how they could dock.

Back in the day when SeaEscape operated from Port Canaveral, the government allowed "cruises to nowhere" which allowed them to do day cruises. But the government now enforces laws that prevent foreign-flagged ships from doing daytrips because a stop at a foreign port is a requirement. Whether ships can make it to Freeport overnight and then back the second night is more challenging than sailing out of Palm Beach.

I would think that they would have 3 and 4 night cruises, as that makes more sense to me than a 2 night cruise. It amazes me at the distance some people travel for a 2 nighter.  We live in West Palm and can be at the port in 30 minutes.

We did a 2 night MSC from Cape Canaveral in January, that went to their private island just south of Bimini.

I've been looking at a few interesting itineraries, but on MSC's oldest ships.  I've also seen some not quite as interesting, but on a newer ship.

Even though I like to explore new places, I'm hesitant to do so on their older ships.

Thus the question, what is more important to you, a better, newer ship or a superior itinerary on an older ship?

We were on MSC Sinfonia for an April 2019 Mediterranean cruise. We really enjoyed the smaller ship, even though it didn’t have all the bells and whistles as the newer ships.
