  1. We have tried the Lido deck pizza on multiple ships. We have never been pleased. On the other hand, being able to get Alfredo's for lunch in the Sabatini's venue on some ships - including Coral - is good. We eat there as the pizza is far superior to the stuff on Lido deck.

I know many post that Princess has "the best pizza at sea" and were posting that long before Alfredo's came into existence. If that is true then all other lines must have truly horrid pizza. Alfredo's = Yes. Prego = No. The Princess Pizzeria on Coral "might" have been slightly better than we have had on other ships (especially Star) but it still didn't do much for us. Cafe Corniche on Sea Princess was very good.

The few ships with a dedicated Alfredo's are definitely doing something right in offering an alternative.

I see so many post about Alfredo's. What is this? Is lunch at Sabatini's free or is there a charge?

We are sailing on the Coral in March and would like to know about this "Alfredo's" thing. :D

    Thank you

  2. You will be able to enjoy a german night in the buffet on the Coral unless for some reason they changed something. We were in the coral this week last year and the Bavarian night was excellent! Where did you live?

Sent from my SM-N910P using Forums mobile app

I was living in the Stuttgart area with my parents when I met my future husband. He was in the Army stationed at Dachau outside of Munich. After we married to spent two more tours in Germany in the Hanau area which is near Frankfurt. Loved every minute!

  3. Not necessary the $250. OBC

The military credit is $100. at least that is what my husband has always received.

If JR-Retired, please let me in on how to receive the $250. bc that is what we would want too! :D

If it is $250 for military credit my husband would like to get that too! We are sailing on Coral Princess the 18th of March and he was given a $100 OBC.

  4. I bring a flameless candle that I get from the $ store, 2 in a pack for $1.00 for the bathroom. Just enough light and 1 "candle" lasts over a week.

I pack a couple of bottles for Dr. Brown root beer to make myself a couple of root beer floats! Yum!

    Janie

Even better if we could bring Not Your Dad's Root Beer to make floats. Yum!

  5. On embarkation day the MD will have a time set up in one of the dining rooms between 2p and 3:30 for issues like this to meet with passengers.

It will be listed in the embarkation day Patter. He can make it happen then.

Thank you very much. Two people in our party of six have hearing difficulties. A round table makes conversing easier that shouting down a rectangle table. :)

  6. We are sailing on the Coral in March with two other couples. I would like to request a round table for our dinner seating. Does anyone know how I can do this? On our last cruise, which was an RCI, I emailed the maître d'hôtel with my request.

Also, do you know if Giuseppe Franchina is still the maître d'hôtel?

    TIA

  7. Sorry, but smoked salmon/lox was NEVER to be found at the buffet during breakfast at the Horizon Court on the Coral.

You had to ask for it, and they brought it out, plated from the galley.

I found the same thing on our last RCI cruise. Smoked salmon\lox was never available on the buffet. All I had to do was ask and they brought it out from the galley every morning. The only reason I can of think of why they do it this way is so people don't take a pound of it at a time. ☺

  8. Interesting thoughts. And unnecessary worry, and handwringing IMHO. Think positive. You're going on a cruise! :)

Just curious, so how could you be wondering if you made a mistake booking Coral again, if you thoroughly enjoyed everything about it the first time?

Avoid negative subjective comments from persuading you not to go. For every positive, there will be negatives. Just do it, enjoy, and have yourself a good time. :).

BTW, be thankful you are financially, and in good health to enjoy cruising.

    Happy cruising in 2017.

You are so right. Happy New Year. My 2017 resolution is: My glass is half full, not half empty.

  9. My husband and I are booked on the Coral for this March. We have been on this cruise before and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the ship, the service, and the food. Loved it so much I talked my husband in to going again. I also talked two other couple to join us.

Now after I read some of the negative statements I hope I haven't made a mistake. :( It is the first cruise for one of the couples. First impressions are lasting. I know for every positive reviews there are going to be negative ones. I am pretty easy to please and any time I am cruising I am a winner. That said, I hope our friends are not disappointed with my recommendation.

  10. We are sailing on Crown next month, our first time with Princess for several years. We have a balcony cabin.

1 Are bathrobes provided in the cabin?

2 Is fruit provided in the cabin, and, if so, is it refilled?

    Thanks

When I did my online check-in with Princess there was a question under Onboard Preferences: "Complimentary robe in your cabin" You can choose there if you want one.

  11. Wow , this is wonderful ! we sail on the Coral in march '17 , now if you could run down to cabin E507 :rolleyes::cool: would love to have a peak inside LOL

We, along with 2 other couples, are booked on Coral for March 18th. Very excited.

Wouldn't be nice if we could have a peak at our cabins and balcony! :D

  12. Great review. Thank you very much.

My husband and I along with 4 other friends will be sailing on the Coral March 18th. This will be our 2nd time on the Coral Panama Canal cruise. The itinerary is a little different this time. We stopped in Cozumel the last time.

My husband is 71 and I am 69. I have to smile when I see remarks that it is an older crowd on this "ship." I think because of the itinerary and cost it does not necessarily attract the young partying crowd. I myself, even at 69, want to live life to the fullest and dance like no one is watching. :D.

Thanks again for the great review.

  13. We have friends going with us on Coral 18March2017 sailing. They are "virgin" cruisers and so had many questions. One was "Is it OK to wear capris to dinner?"

I have been on this cruise before but don't recall seeing any ladies wearing capris in the dining room. I know no shorts are allowed. I usually wear dresses or "Sunday Go to Meeting" (:)) type of clothes to dinner.

Can anyone answer this for her?

  14. Hello Everyone -

Sorry that I have not finished up this review yet.....it is coming. I had previously contracted to work an event 2 days after this cruise. While on the ship I had my phone stolen and then when we got back our motorcoach which had been in the shop for 2 weeks getting some repairs done was not finished. So I had about 48 hours to scramble to figure out accommodations for the family while I was out of town and at the same time get me a phone. On top of that I've worked 120+ hours while at this event so I haven't had a whole lot of free time. I fly back tomorrow and have already asked the kids to put together some feedback while I was gone. So hopefully if all goes well Ill get this wrapped up in the next week.

    -Sean

We have all enjoyed your review so far. Please don't worry about us. We are patient and will wait. Your family the priority over us. Sorry you ran into so many problems after your cruise. Not a great way to come back off a vacation.

Look forward to your review when you are able.

    Pam
