Hmmmm, I thought I heard it was "all about the base, not the treble but the base"!!!!!!!!
Â
Cheryl, I had to laugh. My 4 & 6 year old grandsons love to sing that song dance to that song.

My son & I took a ferry from Calais to Dover years ago. Worst trip ever. It was so rough everyone was laying on the floor with their paper bags. Don't ever want a trip like that again.
Â
Hope our cruise on the 8th is Smooth Sailing.

My time is only available on deck 5

I requested a table for 4 next to a window. The reply that I got said we would be assigned to table 362 on Deck 5. We have chosen early seating.
Â
First question...Is Deck 5 also for assigned dining as well as My Time.
Â
Second question: Can I ask a big favor....Would you see if table 362 is next to a window or is it next to the wall between the windows?
Â
Your review and pix have been fabulous. Can't wait to board FOS!

A Very Happy (Belated) Anniversary!
Â
I think we will all be living vicariously through your posts. Thank you for doing this. We will be sailing out in 3 short weeks!
Â
Smooth sailing to you and yours. :)

The menu order for Freedom Eastern Caribbean last August (hopefully someone with a more recent trip can chime in) was:
Â
Mojo
Saffron
Shiitake
Pimiento
Basil
Jasmine
Pomodoro
Â
I am pleading ignorant. What does mojo, safron, shiitake, etc mean?
Â
TIA

Great job so far! Curious to see whether your bag with wine in it goes to your cabin or to the naughty room...😕

I too am curious about the wine. Did you have two bottles in two separate bags for 4 bottles total? ;)

Some more pics....

Â
Beautiful family. Looking forward to your review. We leave March 8th on FOS.

Take a look at the following link... you can see the stern of the Freedom. This is the "construction" cam for Terminal 1. Don't know if they are going to continue to leave it up and running or perhaps adjust it so there is a better view of the ship.
Â
Â
Thank you BB. She is a beaut!

What is the web address to view FOS in port? When I pull up Port Canaveral webcam it looks like I am seeing 2 Carnival ships and a Disney ship.

Very well said :) I agree with you (what's coming next is not meant for you!)......but by the same token, we have folks on this thread who deal with crisis (or perceived crisis) very differently. I'll admit that when it was first reported that Freedom may have propulsion problems again, I had a pang of fear  For me, it was just a pang - for others, it is much more. I have resolved the possibilities in my head, and that is where my "go with the flow" attitude comes from. Not everyone is capable of that. What would make these boards really great, is if we all showed some patience andunderstanding and remembered why they were set up in the first place - to share information, not make people feel bad they even asked the question....
Â
Ditto. Very well said.
I can feel the breeze and smell the salt air. I see the waves and the crystal clear blue water. I am there. Now will someone please get me a margarita...on the rocks no salt.

It is what it is. I cannot change what is. I will look forward to whatever FOS brings us.
Â
One thing that is kind of bothersome to me is some of the posts people have made like: I've been to those islands many time so I don't care if we don't go. or so what if our itinerary is changed or we are delayed.
Â
Some have never been to these islands. I personally have been to these islands. Some have saved money and vacation hours to have a dream vacation. I am retired so I am on vacation everyday.
Â
The only point I am making is the questionable propulsion problem is a big deal for some.
Â
Sorry for my rant. Have a super day! :)

It looks like FOS is leaving Nassau port right now. Can't wait to hear reports and see pix.

We have used Bonine before. we take it at night to try to sleep the sleepiness off. I am scared of the patch... Maybe I shouldn't be! I also am afraid of feeling nauseous for 7 days!
Â
Thanks for all of the input.
Â
The patch didn't work for me. My doctor said to apply it 24-48 hours before the cruise. I did that and the patch made me dizzy. (Crazy huh).
Â
I have used Bonine which worked for me. It doesn't make me sleepy like Dramamine and Benadryl. My husband tried the sea band bracelet. It did nothing. I wouldn't recommend what my niece suggested but I will tell you what she said. She said if you start feeling motion sickness have another one of those cruise drinks. You won't be able to discern whether it is the motion of the ocean or the pretty drink with the paper umbrella. ;)
Â
My vote goes for Bonine!

OK - I had to book cabin 6662, 6671 and 6669 for an upcoming trip. We are booked on Freedom of the Seas.
Â
We all get motion sick, but I hesitate to move to mid ship because of the possible noise from the promenade. And, the rooms are more pricey.
Â
Do you think these cabins are close enough to mid-ship to be similar to a mid-ship room... or should I move us all to mid ship and figure out how to deal with the possible noise from the promenade? I would appreciate any thoughts you more experienced people have! by the way, I can only move forward about 10 rooms. Would that even help that much?
Â
Thanks!
I know a lot of people get a prescription for scopolamine patches from their docs to use for sea sickness. Might keep that in mind if you have serious problems with motion sickness.
-
Yes.
Â
My DBIL and his DGF will be joining us on our cruise. We have cabins next to us (not adjoining). I spoke with a rep from RCI and asked we could open the balconies to make a large balcony for the 4 of us. She told me no. Really???
Â
TIA

La Sucriere has a location on the Dutch side, in Simpson Bay/Cole Bay, if you don't want to venture across the island to Marigot.

Â
Thanks for the info Gary. Love a croissant. :D

We have had breakfast several times at a little place right across from the market called La Sucriere. I think it is owned by a Canadian fellow. He has the best pain au chocolat (chocolate stuffed croissants)! :)
Â
We will be there in March and hope he is still there.

Where is this blog?
Â
I googled "Freedom of the Seas blog" and found it.
Â
I think this is what they were talking about. Some info on the changes are there.:)

Bill, We are in the Toledo area. We are booked in an aft JS on Deck 10. Not sure what the new deck 12 category is meant to be. We lucked out with an upgrade on Allure last year the week after her Dry-dock to fix similar azipod issues. I'll post if we get the call but not holding my breath for a GS this time.
Â
Funny thing about the Allure dry-dock repairs last year, azipods were fine afterwards but upgrades to security systems caused us to be late leaving each port due to bad counts of souls on board. There are always interesting little snags. This is why I believe they are reluctant to commit to the changes until done or near so.
Â
GO Bucks!!!
Â
We are Alabama Roll Tide fans. We had our chance but I guess the old saying holds true "May the best man win" and he did. :( Congrats!
Watching FOS pivot to sail away to dry dock.
See you March 8th!

Thank you for your quick reply. I am very much a worry wart.

Why is Freedom of the Seas in San Juan, PR. According to RCI itinerary they are suppose to be in St. Thomas.
Â
I am really worried. We have a cruise scheduled for March 8th 2015 and I keep reading about problems with this ship.
-
Love me some escargot. Wonder if they are available for our March 2015 cruise on Freedom.
