It has been a good decade since I have sailed Royal, and I have no idea what is normal and what isn't.  We are sailing on the Allure at the end of May. Currently, the deluxe beverage package is $56 per day, plus gratuity. The total for two people is $925.12. Should I buy this now, or wait for the price to come down? Will it even come down with the current prices being increased?  Thanks!

You can buy it now, keep an eye on the pricing, and then cancel your purchase and re-buy it at a lower price should you see one.

I've noticed that the Oasis and Quantum class generally seem to have higher pricing than some other ships too.  I did read yesterday that the price of the packages are going up in 2019 too.

Place your bets, what post number will be the first "I like a firm mattress post"? Since around 2016 when they started replacing the existing ones, the new ones have seemed like sleeping on the floor.

You apparently don't read before posting, because I already made that post on post two. [emoji12]

  3. Thank you! Any flavored teas or energy drinks?
I don't recall any teas being in there.

Vitamin Water and Powerade are in there, but no legitimate energy drinks. Remember too, all products will be Coca Cola owned.

    Coke

    Sprite

    Barqs

    Mr Pibb

    Mello Yellow

    Seagrams

    Dasani

    Minute Maid

    Hi-C

    Vitamin Water

    Powerade

Numerous fruit flavors of each and sugar free/Zero options of most. Probably some I'm forgetting too.

  4. Thanks for sharing that experience. I would think that it is quite frequent that an 'other half' picks up the drinks while the 'better half' ;) stays sitting at the pool. We will be sure to check our onboard account each day for this issue.

Yes, we do it all the time, and have never had an issue. This was definitely not the norm for the charge to occur. Just a simple button pushing mistake by the server I'm guessing.

  5. Sort of an FYI related to this topic.

My other half and I always have the Deluxe Bev package. We also both often take the others card and will order two drinks at once. Never a problem with both cards in hand. On the Freedom sailing I was just on last week, I went to the R-Bar, ordered two drinks as usual, handed both cards and a $1 bill (my usual practice for mixed drinks), and walked away with both drinks in hand. The next day upon review of my onboard account on the TV, I saw a single drink charge from the R-Bar. I went to guest services and they pulled up the receipt in question. On this particular instance, the bar server had rung up both drinks on one card - so the second drink was charged. It was easy to get fixed/removed after showing guest services that we both had the beverage packages, so no harm no foul, but a good reminder to keep an eye on your onboard account.

  6. Your plan makes perfect sense to me.

The soda packages come two to a cabin (for a Boardwalk balcony cabin) - not assigned to a specific person - so the two kids with you can have them, and your wife and other child could have the other two. Would be zero issue with you purchasing the single alcohol package for yourself with this plan either - since there would be no other adults over 21 in your cabin.

  7. No, you can get the 2 device package for one person.

What happens is, they give you the number of codes you pay for. 1 for a 1 device package, 2 for a 2 device package, etc.

You can have one device per code logged in at any given time. So if you and your son are on the cruise, you would need 2 codes so both could be logged in at the same time.

    This actually is not correct.

If you buy a two device package - they give you one code - but you can have two devices logged on at the same time. Each device uses the same code and any two can be logged on at the same time. I've done this on several sailings.

However, if you buy two single device packages you will get two separate codes. Any one device can be logged in with each individual code at a time. I've done this when the cost of 2 single device plans were cheaper than a single two device plan, or when it was included with the beverage packages.

  8. I'm interested in the First Night Done Right discounted dinner for our Indy cruise in January. It has you pick a time but no where does it show where you pick the restaurant. Has anyone done this before? Also, do you know how long this deal is available? We cruise Jan.12,2019. TIA

You receive the discount for the "first night done right" promotion by them picking your dining venue. You pick the time, they pick the place. Once boarded, if you are unhappy with their selection, you can often have it changed to another if space permits.

  9. Did you drink this as an aperitif? I have only had it after dinner as a dessert wine. I am not a sweet wine drinker, but for some reason I think moscato tastes good.

We are not really wine drinkers, however, we frequently have Moscato with Italian food. We feel it goes well with the saltiness of the pasta and sauces.

So, I guess to answer your question, we have it with dinner, not as an aperitif or dessert. Of course, drinking two bottles between two of us, it kind of ran through all courses. [emoji23]

  10. A lot of variables: How long the cruise is, what kind of cabin I am in, how much I see/interact with/have our minor requests met by them, etc..

With that said, we've done anywhere from $20 - $100 extra, in cash, for the stateroom attendant. As stated above, they are already being paid a tip that Royal feels is adequate, so anything I leave is for exceptional service above and beyond.

  11. This topic gets covered fairly regularly on the Florida Departures board. You may want to take a peek there: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=495

With that said, there are numerous shared shuttle companines, Uber and private car services. For private service, I have used and have been happy with Larry's Limos. Have used them several times for trips between FLL and MIA and vice versa. http://www.larryslimo.com/index.html
