    ...existing cabanas....South Beach....

If they keep the existing beach cabanas, their location would make them the Chill Island Cabanas not South Beach Cabanas.

I have read that the existing ones are not staying, but nothing in hard facts anywhere to support or dispel that.

I had a Chill Island Cabana, paid $319 as a Diamond in a Junior Suite for those keeping track, booked for an upcoming Navigator sailing in May, but we decided to change our plans for the day and I cancelled it.

I booked Chill Island Cabana for Dec because in Jan it said those were the over water cabanas. Now looking at the map they will not be. South beach club is where it looks like they will be from the virtual map. I just called RCI and they said reservation have not opened for those yet. Not going to be happy if the price is 1000+ when they do open up. he offered to move to South Beach but those are still not over water. My 5 yr old is so psyched about the little slide and hammock. I am going to be one unhappy mama bear if I dont get one of these.

The Coco Beach Club over-the-water cabanas will have an estimated price range of $999 - $1599 depending on the season and whatever other factors they use for their dynamic pricing.  This is directly from the FAQ located here:   https://www.royalcaribbean.com/content/dam/royal/resources/pdf/perfect-day-at-cococay-frequently-asked-questions.pdf

  3. To piggyback on this thread with a related question, are the Chill Island Cabanas new, or are they the existing beach cabanas just renamed?

The interactive Pefect Day page on Royals website makes them seem new.  The picture in my Cruise Planner showing the marker location for them, makes them seem like the existing ones.

I have one booked for the end of May, but am second guessing my choice.

The number of ships that you can pre purchase booze is amazingly small.  Could on the Symphony couldn’t on the Radiance or Ovation.

when you go to buy say a bottle of gin or vodka and some mixers at about $50 bucks for a 375 liter bottle and a few cans of mix, the ships you can do it on it is tiny.

    jhc

This is not entirely true as it depends on the package you try to purchase.  The Absolute vodka and Sprite package seems to have no limitations and if you do a mock purchase, say for March 17th, numerous ships show up as an option in the drop down list that are listed as being excluded for the other packages.

The other packages do have a note at the bottom of their respective order screen listing the ships it isn't available on.

Guess maybe vodka is universally accepted, but rum, gin and scotch isn't?  LOL!!

    Last weeks sailing..pretty self explanatory.

If you don't get this letter until boarding, it would be pretty indicative of the fact you don't have to make reservations in the Cruise Planner months ahead of time, and instead can do it once onboard.

My thought on this could change as more information is gained between now and my Allure sailing in September, but that is my assumption for now.

  6. I normally get Voom anyway, so it wasn't that much more to get The Key (on "sale"), but the fact I'm now seeing/hearing you need to make reservations for shows is annoying.  I hate planning out every second of my vacation, so the flexibility of just showing up was a huge selling point.

The Oasis class ships are the ONLY ships that have an Aqua Theater.  The sales material clearly says no reservations for any shows in advance or onboard - including the Aqua Theater.  That can't be a catch-all for other ships for the reason stated above.

Now, if I can just reserve the morning of a show, and not have to do it months in advance when I have zero idea which nights I might want to go, I can probably live with it.

I will use the Flowrider sessions, so there is that.

My sailing on Allure isn't until Sept, so plenty of time to see how it shakes out and cancel if it goes south - or the terms change to not be satisfactory.

I think the reason for the change of days is that Allure now sails from Miami where Harmony was and Harmony now sails from Ft Lauderdale where Allure sailed.  Each is taking the place of the other.

Ahhh, that makes sense.  I have Allure booked for Sept 2019 out of Ft Lauderdale and hadn't realized she was sailing from Miami for the winter.

    Thanks!

I'm not sure when the day of departure changed from Saturday to Sunday, but these Cruise Compasses are from the October 28th sailing this year (two months ago tomorrow). The itinerary is identical (two sea days, St. Maarten, San Juan, Labadee, sea day) so there should be minimal difference except for everything being a day earlier.

I believe the 8 night Harmony sailing that moved it from Saturday to Sunday departed on Nov 10th, so a fairly recent change.  Not sure I ever recall seeing why the Harmony and Allure swapped departure days.

I still have them, and could scan and post them, but it would not be until the middle of January.  We are currently on a pre-cruise stay for our next cruise that departs the first week of January.

Another option, if you want to see most of the activities, is to download the Royal Caribbean app. It is now used on Harmony.

Thank you and enjoy your cruise.

Have some friends boarding the Harmony soon and was asking on their behalf.  I passed on the info about the app and I think that will give them most of what they were looking for.

The last time we sailed on her the sun deck was above the sky bar. The sun deck below the sky bar are normally on the voyager class ships. Seen some photos of the new suite lounge that suggested the sun deck was joined to the lounge but wasn’t sure, hence the question

Been several years since I was on the Indy, but sailed the Freedom in Sept.  The suite seating/sun deck was the tiered seating on each side of the Pool Bar between decks 11 and 12.  The area on top of the Sky Bar was open to anyone.

It was the same on Liberty back in February of this year too.

  11. I've sailed out of San Juan with RCI twice.  Once in Sept 2017 and once in Sept 2018.  Both experiences were polar opposites.  Both times we arrived to port around 10:45a.

In 2017, the port area was a cluster, the porters were not taking bags of the arriving folks, and we stood in line for over an hour just to drop our bags with the porter, then off to another line to wait for security to open.  Security lines were fairly long, but check-in itself went quickly.

In 2018, the port area was still packed with folks still disembarking, but the porters were ready and receiving our bags immediately, security was open with no lines, and we were checked in waiting for boarding to start within about 10mins total.  It was the fastest drop off/check-in we've ever had at any port.  We waited another 15mins or so and the doors opened and away we went.

I'd say arriving around 11a at the earliest would be the safest bet for an early arrival.  If you came at 2:30p or so, you'd pretty much walk right in and on the ship.

I'm having a problem justifying $925 for two, but, I will still buy it :classic_rolleyes:

Remember that it does not just include alcohol either.  Bottled water - both sparkling and still, fresh squeezed OJ in the morning, specialty coffee and tea at the cafe, soda, the Coke Freestyle machines on ships that have them, etc....  Also, to make yourself feel better, when ordering an alcohol beverage - like a simple pina coloada - specify the specific top shelf brand liquor that goes in it and don't just settle for the well brand.

When you look at the onboard prices for drinks, it is not hard to spend the equivalent cost of the drink package.  At least for many of us.  Best of luck and most importantly - ENJOY YOUR CRUISE!

But the new  pricing doesn't show up once you buy it ... unless I am missing it.

You will still log in to the Cruise Planner to check pricing.  Nothing will come automatically about it.  If you see a lower price, you just cancel your original purchase and re-buy at the new price.  I've done it numerous times over the years.
