Would like to know if the tours were paid in US dollars or another form of currency.

Enjoying your review. Great photos!:) Looking forward to the rest.

Glad to hear you had a great time and thanks for a super review and all those fabulous pictures. :)

Enjoying your review and photos, great job. :) We have Oasis booked in a few weeks so this is giving us lots of information.
We are waiting to book our specialty restaurants once we board but I read that Oasis has a special where you can book three specialty restaurants together and it works out cheaper this way. Do you happen to know where you can go the first day to find out about this and to book this package?
Also is the MDR open for lunch on embarkation day?

I checked out the website you mentioned but they didn't seem to have anything that would work for us for Vigo, Spain plus their prices were expensive. Appreciate your help, thanks for trying.:)
-
Yes I did try emailing Brendan and I never got a response. We really want a private tour so I guess if we can't book one ahead we will have to go with a taxi at the port.
-
We seem to be having trouble getting a private guide to tour while visiting Vigo, Spain for the day. We don't want to leave any deposit on our credit card or some of the quotes we received were rather high compared to others. Are there taxi's near the port that will give tours? We were wondering what the cost would be to go that route.

Just booked full day tour with David. Can't wait to visit Bermuda and spend the day touring with him.:)
-
Yes, I think you should try again. We emailed a couple of times back and forth, and he was pretty prompt with his responses.
Yes, can't hurt to re-send it.
-
If you're talking about David Fox, I emailed him in the beginning of January, and he responded that night. Did you email thefox at logic dot bm?
Yes, that's the email address I used. It's been a few days and no reply, do you think I should re-send it since he answered you that night?
-
Yes, that's the email address I used for Colin. Hopefully one of them will get back to me.

I've tried emailing both David and Colin and have not had a response from either. Are they still doing tours? Interested to know how long it took for them to reply to other peoples emails. All the tour guides from the various other ports I wrote to replied with a day or so. Any suggestions on how to reach them or any other guides? Our visit to Bermuda isn't for several months but I'd like to book someone now to know that part of our trip is taken care of.

Great thread...lots of information. :) Now all I have to do is book one of the tour guides, have to see who's available.

Thank you again for all the great information and the link to a new website.

Taking a taxi will give you a faster transfer to the old town. You can begin the wall at the main entrance, do the sea side and go down at the Ploce exit, normally takes about 1 hour. This will allow you time to visit some of our other historical sites. Your plan is good.
Once we get our ticket to walk the wall which I believe is on the right side and then proceed to the left side to enter Pile Gate will there be signs directing us to the "sea side" part of the wall?
Are there signs directing you where to get off at the Ploce Gate area?
I know the wall is only open to 3pm but what time are the other historical sites open till? We have all afternoon and don't plan on returning to the ship till around 5 or 6pm so any other suggestions or will visiting the historical sites take that long?
Thanks Dubrovniktravelady, appreciate your help. We can't wait to visit and now just have to hope the weather cooperates.

We will be visiting Dubrovnik on Nov. 6th. Problem is our ship doesn't dock until noon and that places close earlier so we were wondering if the four of us should take a taxi to the Old Town and if we'll have enough time to walk the complete wall and then walk the town to see the sights or walk the wall only half way, get off somewhere near the Ploce Gate and walk back down the Stradum.
Any ideas how to plan our day so we can get the most out of it.

Dubrovniktravelady,
Thank you for the good suggestions. Hopefully we will be lucky and your November weather this year will be nice.
-
By your date I assume you are on Celebrity, arriving at Noon. Better hurry to old part of town as the walls will normally close at 1500. A nice walk, with photo stops, does normally take about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, just depends on often you stop.
Thank you Dubrovniktravelady,
Yes, we will be with Celebrity and docking so how far away from the wall are we? We may not get to the walls until around 12:30pm or 1pm so hopefully we'll get enough time to walk the whole thing. Since we have limited time should we start at the Pile Gate or go to the Ploče Gate? Which entrance would be better in case we do not have enough time to do the complete wall? Also can you walk around Old Town after the gates to the wall close or will we not even have enough time to do that? Not sure when they say it's closing at 13:00 do they mean just walking around the walls or the whole area of Old Town and the buildings?
Our ship will be there until 8PM but wondering since it's the end of the season how much we'll actually get to see. How would you suggest we plan our day besides doing the wall first? I was so looking forward to spending the day in Dubrovnik (still am) but now that I realize the hours are shortened not sure how much we'll get to see coming on Nov. 6th. Wondering if it pays to take a ship tour so we'll be guaranteed to see the major sights.
Thanks for all your help on the boards....we all appreciate it.

Our ship will be in Dubrovnik on Nov. 6th and I would like to know the hours for the Old Town in the Walled City. I know the hours are shorter this time of year so we want to make sure we have enough time there.

I have a question about the golf carts. We are thinking of renting one while in Grand Turk. Are they battery operated or gas operated? Last time I rented one down here in Florida it was battery operated and the battery died quite quickly.
Thanks!
They are gas as you are required to fill them up before returning them.

Forgot to ask....for those not use to driving on the left side was it easy to get use to? Is there a lot of traffic?
Last time we were there we took a tour so didn't really pay attention to the roads or driving.
-
We are looking forward to renting the golf carts. We've been to Grand Turk before and even though we've visited the few places already we're looking forward to driving around in the golf carts and having a relaxing day.
