  1. Thanks for all the websites and the information. I plan to check them out.

We originally planned to start at the beginning of Cliff Walk (Memorial Blvd. ) like you mentioned and continue until Ochre Point by the Breakers. Is this route all either paved or even dirt walkways? Approximately how long would it take walking at an even pace? Just would like a rough idea so I know how much time to plan.

Our second option was to start at Narragansett and walk to Ochre Point.

At that point are we better getting off at Ruggles or Sheppard Avenue? Are both good walkways?

Since we are four people we'll probably take a taxi there and then decide which way to return depending on time.

Have a great time on Liberty.:)

  2. Thank you so much for posting you're available to answer questions. We will be visiting Newport on Sunday, Nov. 1st. Since we have been to Newport before and did the mansions and town tour last time this trip we booked a private tour of Rose Island Lighthouse in the morning and then plan to do the Cliff Walk in the afternoon.

    My questions are:

    1. We are four people so would it be easier and about as expensive as the bus for us to take a taxi both ways to the Cliff Walk? If so, what's the best way to get one for our return trip? Can we just call or pre-schedule?

    2. We don't want to walk on any of the stone or rough paths on Cliff Walk. Which entrance and exit would you suggest? We don't mind the path not being paved if it isn't too rough or uneven. Will we get to see any of the backsides of the mansions? How long should we plan for the walk?

    Appreciate your help.:)

  3. Still would like to know if anyone has stayed in any of the rooms on the Riviera Deck on Emerald Princess around R731 or E737?

How was the noise level with the Lido buffet being on top? Seems like this area (the cabins in the 700's) is more towards the back so hopefully it wouldn't have much noise.

  4. Is it absolute fact that everything on board is going to charged in Euro's? That not British immersion - if it was British immersion everything would be charged in £££

I wish RCCL would just come out with an official statment of what changes we are going to have to face on board, at least then people can make an informed descision.

So true. They never let you know and even when they do I still question what they say. As far as I know one representative told me Euros another the next day said US currency. I also wondered why Euros and not British Pounds and even asked her at the time. She only said they decided on Euros. Personally, I don't think the right hand knows what the left is doing. Wish they'd get their act together and let the people who keep them in business know so like you said we can make a decision.

  5. Just found out that the Independence cruise we had booked is going to be an "immersion" cruise. :( Don't mind that but do mind that they are now going to be using Euros on board as the currency for those sailings.

Not interested in having to pay in Euros when our dollar is so weak so we are switching to a Princess ship with the same itinerary. Don't want to have to pay for ship tours, casino, gratuities, etc... on board in Euros.

Guess I'll have to wait until it I can sail her in the Caribbean instead of Europe as those cruises probably won't be "immersion" ones.

  6. We just booked Independence for summer 2009 and have enjoyed reading this thread.

Was wondering ... is the solarium still for 16 yrs. and older and free of charge? Can't remember which ship or which cruise line but some are now charging. I think it's the Emerald Princess (but not 100% sure) that's charging $10 per half a day to use the chairs in their solarium. We always enjoyed the quieter atmosphere of the solarium so hope it's still free.
