  1. Which I assume means couples not paying for the seats are far more likely to be split up. Did I dream it or was there an extra kilo or two of luggage at one point advertised for these premium seats?
  2. Stupid question time I'm afraid. Just checked my P&O and note booking the premium seats has moved me from the 10.15 to 11.20 flight on 16 December. I note from Gatwick that apart from these two flights there are 2 others operated by TUI in the afternoon. I assume these are also P&O flights. Never having booked these before apart from the smaller cabin and bigger seats are there any other perks attached that I should be aware of please? I assume as nothing shows on my P&O account that this move to a different flight means that when seat selections open the system automatically shows me that cabin, am i correct in this belief? Also do i have to pay extra to select my seat on top if my £399 each?
  3. Broke the habit of a lifetime today and booked the last two premium economy seats on our Christmas flight. Nothing to do with cruising but amusingly we flew to Verona on BA yesterday. Unfortunately BA had unbeknown to anyone booked a 40 piece orchestra plus their instruments on the flight which led to a mass stand down of passengers and very limited cabin space onboard. Having twisted arms to get on we travelled legs asunder with our own and fellow passengers' luggage on our laps and under seats while, cellos, violins and cornets luxuriated in gently reclined seats and stewards offered them great love and attention. As we are visiting Italy to see Andrea Bocelli in concert I kept very quiet just in case they were playing with him on Wednesday! Quite an experience but I decided I'd like my next flight to be a bit more refined. Hopefully TUI will not be boarding the P&O orchestra and dance band from Gatwick on 16 December ...
  4. Sounds very expensive to me. Look in the saver and see if there's an option to choose area, ie midship.
  5. Not just me then. Doubt they'll miss us!
  6. See post #34 Chrisdriving. Apparently he has booked as unvaccinated. He said previously he sailed Princess this year and had 2 P&O booked. He does not say elsewhere if this new one is P&O and seems mainly to have been active on Princess. Strangely old posts are all about wanting a vaccine! Make of it what you can.
  7. Well they're certainly still relocating passengers on upcoming cruises to free quarantine cabins. I also wonder what would happen with the non vaccinated if they moved a port at last minute. For instance we just had Agadir added to one cruise and Morocco still require a full three vaccinations to enter. Assumedly once the unvaccinated are onboard if such a move was required either the port would be lost, the passengers couldn't get off or they'd have to undertake testing onboard as per Morocco's requirements.
  8. Thanks for the information. The amount of the saving isn't so important but if there is one I won't say no! More importantly as its work related we require an invoice and purchasing in advance generally generates one.
  9. I'm sure it will be well organised. I did look at one of the cruises myself but because of all involved and the amount of flying I've been doing since June opted for Iona in October instead. I'm back to Italy again on Sunday with my husband, this time on pleasure celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary 2 years late. Thankfully slowly running down all our rebookings at last, only one more to go.
  10. Never having booked them I am thinking of treating myself for our Arvia cruise in December 2023. What do I need to do to check availability and book?
  11. Google maps say 20 minutes. Reading Yorkypete's original post he said 2 hours from landing to port. Assumedly he is speaking about passport control, luggage collection, boarding transport and the drive? On my last trip to Malta 4 years ago I was astonished at all the new dual carriageways and how built up it had become. If he hasn't been lately perhaps he isn't aware of these roads?
  12. Thanks. As it's an essential I'll call them and buy it before travel to ensure we get the discount and if I get a receipt can claim it as a business expense! Planning on using OBC for drinks, retreat and the spa as being Christmas we have booked all our excursions and will reserve our specialist dining before as well. Do seem to have rather a lot of OBC to spend which is unusual for us.
  13. Thank you everyone. I will book the cheaper one to start as suggested. Incidentally I assume those who booked had to visit reception to get their package activated in the same way as before? I recall a gift card in our cabin being the previous route to activation which I found quite amusing. I assume any peninsular club discount also still applies unless anyone knows differently.
  14. Has anyone had recent experience of Britannia's wifi packages since the change? I have to purchase the package for my husband to work throughout our 14 day holiday and am interested in email, social media and web browsing. I note the dearer package states itself as 3x faster but previous experience has shown actual connection has been the main problem in the past. Any help very much appreciated. Thank you.
  15. As it's some way off did they allocate your seat or could you pick it in advance? Also do you pay upfront or when your balance falls due.
  16. I've just had an email to say seat booking is not happening yet - I had been told today would be the day. I've checked my CP and it still says nothing. If its helpful to anyone with their finger in the button, this is SeatGuru plan and comments for the two TUI variations currently flying: Boeing 787-9 (789) - newer plane https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Thomson_Airways/Thomson_Airways_Boeing_787-9.php Boeing 787-8 (788) https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Thomson_Airways/Thomson_Airways_Boeing_787-8.php The "normal seats are 17" wide with a pitch of 33", the Premium Economy are 18" wide with a pitch of 36". From my own experience the extra legroom seats have fixed armrests. From what I can recall from conversations with staff on my summer flights with TUI a few of the older 787 planes were press ganged into short haul use due to lack of planes and as a consequence had their seating layout changed. Hope this helps those deciding what they want.
  17. Just had this attached to a sales email. Silly place to put it as I'm already booked for next two years but for what it's wortg here's a bit of an update: Quote Rest assured, if you’re travelling to the Caribbean and haven’t yet seen information about your flights, we’ll be in touch over the coming days with your confirmed flight details and how to book your seats. Unquote
  18. If you like to take a forward deck 8 balcony you can pay £5058 for the privilege. The £4958 is on deck 15 midships with all the incumbent problems. Even a saver fare on this cruise is now £4498 or £4598 for a forward cabin. Zapp's fare is therefore a winner by a long way.
  19. Okay you win! I'm not really interested in Princess or it's current policies and therefore bow to your superior knowledge. I was not intending in any way to say one line was better than others and to be frank was attempting to help P&O guests understand how they end up with select fares with guarantee cabins.
  20. That's rather sweeping! They certainly aren't siding with Princess on my problems, rather trying to open a proper communication channel. Unless people try we will ever know for sure.
  21. I haven't actually booked with them on line and certainly have no intention of ever sailing with them again so won't have the chance to try. However a look at their online system does show the option for them to choose or for you to pick your own. Remember we are talking online, you I believe use a specific travel agent so wouldn't be affected or need to be warned. I've been looking at a lot of cruises on a lot of lines in the past few weeks for March next year. I can assure you that a great many are charging more online to choose a cabin.
  22. My thread posted yesterday regarding red tape and Travel Regulations has been moved to the Princess forum. I have no wish whatsoever to have correspondence with that board as the people over there were aggressive, personal and in some cases offensive. I therefore asked for the thread to be deleted but it is still there. I'm particularly anxious for it to go before the US Princess travellers come back onboard. I'm very fragile about all this particularly with my aunt once again seriously ill. Can anyone indicate how long it should take to be deleted please?
