  1. Zip lining was fun, not sure I’d do it again. We prefer the 2 hr type tour with lots of zips. This was a lot of waiting around in our uncomfortable harnesses (1 hr 15 mins in harnesses, 45 seconds of zipping.). But we can say we did it now :)

We came back and ate lunch at the Suite beach buffet. I forgot to take pictures [emoji22]. I know it was supposedly upgraded but I thought it was just ok. We should have checked out the regular buffet to see how it compared. They did have some salad options, mixed greens, some slaw, some German potato salad. But they were out of ribs. The steak had been cooked awhile ago and the burgers were like a frozen mystery patty cooked up. I know that sounds harsh, maybe I’m getting spoiled. No chips, fries etc. I mean we didn’t starve or anything [emoji23].

We just got regular chairs under an umbrella, no need for a cabana for just us. We hung out in the water awhile, shared some floating mats with some other folks, they were hard to come by from 10-1 but as people left we could have had one no problem.

I will say since the Suite beach area is on the “bay” side of the port it doesn’t get the nice ocean breeze the that other side gets.

We stayed until almost three and then came back.

So this is funny, the casino was supposed to be bringing us gifts each day, but for some reason they hadn’t brought anything. We actually hadn’t even gotten a welcome note or anything. Well I guess they figured it out because when we got back from the beach they had brought everything at once [emoji23]

  2. So I slightly failed you guys yesterday, no breakfast pics (again).

I had some secret plans for us to zip line in labadee but ended up letting hubby know the day before because his back had been bothering him and I needed to be sure he could do it. He said he was in [emoji106].

We met Susan at 9:30 with two other families to be escorted off. We ended up waiting a bit for some late folks and honestly should have just walked off ourselves. But she took us to the little golf cart for the short ride to the suite beach area.

  3. I ordered a glass of port with dessert and hubby wanted a fancy after dinner drink as well and the waiter brought him some cognac.

    e44de340207acfa50d3fe27f3ce82783.jpg

My port was perfect, hubby deemed the cognac “not my favorite.” I think it was his first time trying.

Desserts up next. Chocolate tart for Les (amazingly similar to the one we had in Coastal Kitchen the night before)

    37928ec3f838dbdc291ac56fce4e216c.jpg

And these doughnuts of perfection, with chocolate and lemon sauces.

    5ed3c584566b42224e24cb9be87c16ee.jpg

    Warm, sweet delicious doughnuts.

This was a great meal overall and a lovely restaurant with great service (all of our service has been top notch!)

  4. Second round of apps included the ahi tuna tartare (prepared tableside) for Les.

He must have enjoyed it as he ate the whole thing (I thought it looked way big enough to share.)

    I tried the lobster gnocchi.

    9c42f09563bba40815d1fcee8a7153fd.jpg

It was just the right flavors and a perfect size as well. The lobster bites were the same size as the gnocchi which were soft and pillowy.

We really struggled with which main dishes to order and our waiter I feel like steered us the right direction (for the most part.)

He highly recommended the fish even though I was skeptical about a fish dish marinated in honey. We finally decided on fish (mahogany cod) for Les, short ribs for me and scallops to share. He said he would bring some extra scallops so that dish may be presented differently than usual.

    18a8fefa0dc0d04db2a41facc07fd211.jpg

Scallops...yummy. Tender, although I felt like they could have hard a slightly longer cook or better sear, they almost seemed underdone in the middle.

    e8da4ce567f523a4d118b86aa946c595.jpg

Short ribs, this was the disappointing entree of the three. It didn’t even look pretty on the plate. They were tender but needed more sauce as they were a little dry, also more squash purée as the plate was just a big hunk of meat.

Saving the best for last here is the fish.

Buttery, cooked to perfection. It tasted sooo good! Highly recommend. High compliments from my husband who said “it doesn’t even taste like fish” [emoji23]

  5. So dinner at 150 Central Park was the meal I was most nervous hubby wouldn’t care for. He’s not a super adventurous eater although he’s gotten better at trying things. The menu was the most limited. Turns out it wasn’t as issue.

We started with the very fresh and delicious bread which was served with unsalted butter and six different types of salt.

    45cd5ef0108b5e1ebd94a52ca3cc18c9.jpg

The smoky black salt smelled like Rome burning (any of my Disney friends will understand this reference.).

The onion flavored rolls were my favorite.

Next up appetizers round 1, butternut squash soup for me, salad with orange fennel and radish for hubby.

    7e6d05a06adf37f82abd2748d4c09858.jpg

The soup was very good but had pepitas in it (toasted pumpkin seeds) and I felt like they sort of destroyed the velvet texture of the soup. Les said the salad needed a bit more dressing, he asked me if he could have it with thousand island [emoji849][emoji23]

  6. Howdy followers (anyone still here? Tap tap tap)

Next up another breakfast at Coastal Kitchen, I guess I should be taking pics but it’s been just good yummy, hot, prompt breakfast!

Lunch yesterday I left open after we got back from a poorly planned (by me) walking tour of San Juan (omg #sohot). We thought we actually might pass out from heat stroke and once we hit 27 stories and close to 13,000 steps we took a cab back to the ship.

I let Les pick lunch since I had hosed up our morning and I thought he might pick Johnny Rockets but it was back to Sabor for National taco day! We mostly ordered the same as the first day but he tried the beef empanada app and I had the chicken tacos instead of the steak quesadilla.

    826df04ab5f2a4cffa44ed87d3ee383c.jpg

The chicken is shredded and a little dry but they sent salsa and toppings. The tortillas are thick like a pita though? Odd. Drinks were great, some of the best mixed drinks we have had.

Later in the late afternoon for the purpose of this review I tried some pizza at Sorrentos and I’ll be honest it was GREAT! Hot, fresh, didn’t taste like chemicals that frozen pizza does. I need some more as I write this [emoji23]

  7. First we had the lobster (from Chops it looked like) it was good but a little mushy. No fault of the kitchen sometimes you just get a mushy one, happens at home too. (We ate it anyway [emoji23])

    9932d6819305c416e1f11e0b05e4522e.jpg

Next the filet (yes we got one anyway). It was slightly over our medium rare request but still good and the truffle mashed potatoes were great!

    92ee407a21dc11a16e790eb4402c685a.jpg

And then I ordered the duck. I enjoy it and don’t get to have it much at home and it sure didn’t disappoint! Yummy and savory and sweet with the cherry sauce on it. I’d order it again in a heartbeat.

    fbc83b23586890b71e92f6e6c11f6ad7.jpg

Finally dessert time...we both shared a creme brûlée and the chocolate hazelnut I think it was torte, like a little pie. They were both very good.

Yeah I was a little late with the photos...

    [emoji23]

So we were full and tired but wanted to see the comedy show at 10:30 and Susan was saving us two seats (not in the front) so we went to comedy, got a second wind, hit the casino after and went to bed at 2am...again. Oh well we can sleep when we get home!

  8. Alrighty let’s see if I can recall. We were actually very up in the air about dinner last night. We had coastal kitchen reserved for filet night but we were a little filet’d out (is that a thing?). But we asked the genie if there were any last min opening for hibachi but there were not. So we asked her for the first fairly crazy request we had had which was could we get some lobster in Coastal Kitchen on non lobster night? She said yes! So Coastal Kitchen it was!

So we were seated and brought our wine and a really nice bread basket including cheesy bread and breadsticks (yum). A very nice variety of bread. (My mom would have been happy.)

    08ec7263397fe5609a11fb23ee023a24.jpg

I wanted to try the pork belly and burrata so I did! I shared mine with hubby and he ordered a shrimp cocktail. Of course they brought him a whole plate of shrimp!

    2e6deb720f31aef45401f7340cd21218.jpg

My burrata was soooo good, but it only came with a tiny crostini for smearing. It had a delicious pesto underneath. There was no way I could eat that much cheese!

    2791dd303a184a222f7e73cdab494d1b.jpg

The pork belly was also a winner. Crispy and much better in my opinion than what I had at Chops the previous night.

  9. I’m baaack! Let’s see where were we? Ah St. Maarten day aka Wednesday.

We grabbed breakfast in Coastal Kitchen and headed off on a day long excursion not with the ship. Here are a couple pics to test if I have fixed my photo issues...

So it seems to be related somehow to my Bluetooth keyboard. If I just type old school on the iPad I can post as many as I want.

So we did a 6 hour tour with snorkeling from Alan’s tours. Highly recommended. Lunch was included and was a basic sandwich with chips, fruit and pasta salad but we were hungry from being in the water and sun. No pics, I was too wet :)

So next up last night’s dinner (our first) in Coastal Kitchen.

  10. Janet, I have been thinking about your photo posting limit to one. Are you posting with the CC branded app, or through the Tapatalk App? There was a period of time on the branded app would not let you post one pic as an attachment, but on Tapatalk you could post up to 6. Don’t know if this helps but I thought I’d throw it out there.

We return to Allure in April in Star Class so you food porn is warming me up.:D

Up until yesterday I had no issues using Tapatalk. Now once I attach one photo to my post the icon that allows me to add a photo disappears.

At this point I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it back to the room. I needed someone to roll me or something.

I think we headed to the casino for awhile but it’s a little hazy.

Great service by the way at Chops, they have quite a large staff and we were also so happy to meet our genie’s husband who is a waiter there.

  12. I ordered the crab cake, I’ve had it before. It was good but didn’t have any kind of large pieces of crab in it or anything. Just fairly standard. Needed more sauce as it was a bit dry.

(This was also the night I brain farted and almost everything else we ordered we took bites of before I took a picture oops.)

    d3942fafa8a8da7aeefd13778d843fc1.jpg

It also appears I took blurry pictures this night but it was quite dark in there.

  13. Quick note and maybe it is because this is our first time on an Oasis ship but we’ve been so busy!! We haven’t even opened our books and magazines and at the same time we feel like we haven’t even explored many areas of the ship. It might be because we are in this giant suite with our own hot tub. Plus we have our own bar up here so we haven’t been around to explore the other areas. It’s nice in a way because we are far away from all the crowds all the time but it’s also weird to feel isolated on a ship with 5000 people onboard.

    Back to the food :)

Tuesday night we ate at Chops. When we got there we were still full from lunch but we didn’t let that deter us from trying a bunch of stuff. Hubby ordered the shrimp cocktail and they brought him two. (Btw I get that they are trying to be nice but he had ordered a few appetizers and really didn’t need two of them.) But he managed to choke them down ha ha!

  14. We both got the same entree, the steak and cheese quesadilla. We could have split one. It was quite large and we each only ate half. I think we were sort of hitting a food wall by this time.

    1e0ac467162bd3ab882fed95340ea48e.jpg

We got some jalapeño pinto beans with them and some roasted tomatoes and sour cream automatically came with it.

The flavors in all the food here were fresh, not greasy, we will probably return (or have some sent to our room lol.)

  15. I haven’t been posting breakfast pictures. We have eaten each morning in the Coastal Kitchen and it’s good, hot breakfast food. Just nothing exciting. All of the eggs have been cooked to proper temperature.

Tuesday for lunch we visited Sabor. I was actually impressed. I went in with kind of a meh attitude since the lunch menu is fairly limited.

We enjoyed the chips and very fresh guacamole (it tasted homemade.)

    a9575361c02c0881877dd373a7e127e7.jpg

They brought pico de gallo and a habanero sauce (VERY hot) but no actual “salsa”.

(Once again it is only letting me post one photo per post.)

Oh and a small shot of a dessert martini, I hardly remember it so it must not have been spectacular lol.

All in all I’m glad we did it once and I’m very glad we did it as Star class so it was only $50 total. If we had paid $200 I would have been not very happy.

A couple of final notes. We had to walk upstairs and the restrooms was downstairs, not sure how it works if someone needs accessibility help

They did give us some additional wine with some courses if we asked.

I was planning on posting a few more meals but I think I will wait til am and see if it lets me post more than one picture at a time.

  17. (It’s not letting me include more than one picture per post right now so here is the lobster salad course...)

    c93c78ef897e68d8c332906697a58c9d.jpg

Next up was the entree. Now our waiter had asked if we wanted the filet, the pasta or the fish and he went on and on about the filet. We had already had filet two times in two days (I know, suite people problems) so hubby went ahead and ordered it bc they said it was so good. I asked for the pasta, I love pasta and hubby hates it so I don’t get to have it often. Waiter said he would bring automatically but I should order the filet and he would bring pasta to share? Umm ok, but I really just wanted pasta. Again he said I should have the filet? Fine bring the dang meat.

  18. Having some app issues, hopefully it won’t keep up.

Scallops were good but a very tiny portion of actual scallops, each person probably had 1/2 a scallop. Wine pairing was tasty, I’m not a wine snob but I thought they went well together.

It was about this time though that we all realized we couldn’t really understand what they were saying about each dish. We got about every fourth word. So some of the Chef’s Table aspect about it was lost on all of us.

Next course was the Smoked Tomato Soup with garlic focaccia croutons and parm paired with a very light Chardonnay.

    bf507f748b8616270546f0bc9ad979b0.jpg

It was ok. I’m not a huge tomato soup fan and I mean I just think it is an odd choice for a $100 per head dinner?

Next up the Maine Lobster Salad with hearts of Palm, pineapple, cilantro and vanilla dressing paired with a heavy chardonnay (Oaked).

It was a great combination of flavors, a think a slightly sweeter note than normally paired with seafood but it worked for me. I finished hubby’s as he has a thing about sweet with any kind of meat (including seafood.)
