I want to thank everyone on this thread . .I went to my bank today, opened a sub account tied to my regular checking account (won't cover overdrafts) and got a separate ATM card.
Makes me feel better . . . .

Paulchili,
My situation is different than yours: I am single with one ATM card so by getting the second one creates the back up I would not have under normal circumstances.
In your situation, I probably would not bother.

>>sub account< I think I'll go talk to my banker today to set up something like this - I'm always nervous about losing my ATM card as I travel.
Thanks!

I always travel with small bills in US currency: $1, $5 plus some $10, $20. I too get local money at ATMs.
Many places will take US$. Do you always get the very best deal? No but on the other hand, you don't end up with bits and pieces of foreign currency.

>>The G.M. on board is Davor Josivovic. A lovely man, quite friendly with an open door policy.<<
I would agree with Peek-a-boo's description. he's been in the cruise business for a long time. And is very good at his job.
Jackie, Devor was the GM on our Mariner crossing in March/April.
I hope OP got her issues resolved . . . . .
