  1. We're traveling on our first RCL cruise in November. According to our cruise planner we're in Nassau from 7-5. We're looking at Atlantis Aquaventure. We're a group of 9-my parents, myself, husband and kids aged 21-6. Has anyone been to Atlantis in November? Should I be aware of anything out of the ordinary weather wise? The day of the week is a Monday. Will everything be open? Also, according to RCL's website our tour starts at 7:30 and is 5 hours. Are those times just approximate?

Just trying to make sure it would be worth the $$.

Just did Atlantis last month, our ship was noon-7pm in port, the ship rate is outrageous compared to booking the comfort suites next door. What you do is book a room for 4 people on the day you arrive, for that you get 4 full atlantis passes. The Comfort suites also offers discounts such as military, Aaa, Senior etc, just check their website. Then on the day you arrive port take a taxi to the Comfort Suites, I think it was about $12 each, you "checkin" but never use the room and check out at the same time, they do offer a place to change clothes if you want it. I would say go to Atlantis right away so you can get chairs at the pool etc.

We went with 6 of us, 3 adults and 3 kids 9-15yr old. The beach area was bit of a walk, the dig site was interesting, there was a Cartoon network lagoon area that you have to reserve in advance, the next available time was 3 days into the future, our kids wanted to do that but I didnt know to reserve ahead of time. The food wasnt cheap but for a large nachos order, onion rings side order, 2 kids sliders and fries meal, and 2 or 3 sodas it was about $58 with tip.

The regular lagoon area was dirty with litter in the water etc, we didnt stay to swim in that area because it was gross.

The main beach was closed for a private corporate event so we had to walk a distance to use a beach, it dropped fairly quick and was a bit rough so we left and walked around a bunch to find one chair at the pool to leave our stuff. Kids loved the slides but it was a wait for them.

Last year we did the Blue Lagoon beach break and for about half the price of doing atlantis via comfort suites the kids said they would have rather gone back to blue lagoon. I agree, I loved the blue lagoon beach break for the price they offered lots of great spots to hang out, we did that one through RCCL as they wont book you direct if you are coming in on a cruise. But now they can check Atlantis off their bucket list.

  2. After sailing aboard Getaway for the last 7 days I can say with confidence...NEVER again.

I will remain Loyal to Royal!!

Feel free to ask any questions you might have regarding differences between the two lines.

We feel the same after sailing on Getaway last month, if we werent already past final payment on another Getaway sailing for next month we would cancel and switch back to Royal. But no more NCL as a standard.

    Down sides:

Buffet areas-Layout in the buffet area forces all those using the aft elevators to exit through the dinning room areas. The staff in buffet do not offer to get your drinks, if you want soda you have to go all the way aft in the Garden Cafe buffet to the only bar and wait in the lines. They dont offer service of coffee or anything as they do on RCCL. They interupt your meal to restock utensils on the table. Food is ok, nothing really good except that you can get fresh made omlets for breakfast.

The dinning room service is hit or miss, found that Savor had much better service over the other 2 dinning rooms.

The famed "waterfront" is limited to dinning only to the upcharge restaurants. There is a nice bar area "Sunset Bar" with good seating.

Balconys are about half the size of Royal, we enjoy our balcony time for sail away and relaxing before dinner.

Pool area horrible, just as crowded as everyone complains, they dont allow kids in the main pool but they do allow them in the hot tubs, odd. The kids pool is set up weird and has a split area down the middle, its deep enough for kids or adults to cool in, one day we saw them kick a lady who was holding her 3-6 month old baby out of the kids pool and told her she had to keep the child in the splash area, WHAT!!! Why is it the kids pool if she cant hold the baby in there. Another night we saw them kick a man and his 8-10 yr old out of the adults pool when they were the only 2 in there, the sign next to adults pool reads under 12 with an adult.

The hot tubs next to the adults pool became a drink fest including bottles of liquor, where did those come from??? and the number of people in the hot tub overflowing so the we were standing on the sides hang onto the hand rails.

The food in the dinning rooms was fair to ok but I have never sent a meal back on royal and I sent a cool temperature steak back on NCL. We did not do rooms service, wont pay for that as we dont need to on RCCL. The last morning the buffet offered breakfast which is better than RCCL. The bathroom was nicer that RCCL although not much shower pressure. The bed was not as comfortable as RCCL, TV channels were good, internet options good.

Rope course enjoyable, the plank walk a must, the water slides good but the ones with the floor dropping out has minimum of 99 pounds to do it.

We didnt do much entertainment at night with the little ones, we did try the glow party with them, they wanted to leave it was too crowded and was more like a club dance party.

While at dinner one eve the asst cruise director stopped at our table to ask about our cruise, we gave him our impression as first time NCL cruisers, good and bad points, we compared it to RCCL. At the end I told him to ask the 9 yr old twin sons if they preferred this cruise over last year on the smaller RCCL Enchantment of the seas, they both said at same time the Enchantment of the Seas because the pool areas were so much better. Its a girls trip in September on the Getaway so I may have different opinion when traveling without kids. Still sticking with RCCL as our first choice.

  3. Hi all

I've cruised a bunch, but never cancelled and rebooked the same cruise.

Last week I was looking at a cruise for me, my mom & sister. The PCC said I needed to book otherwise I'd lose the 3rd person free, so I went ahead & booked. Of course this morning when I looked with the new promotions, my cruise was still 3rd person free. So I want to rebook to get the new promotion.

Can I call the PCC and do it with him or is that not cool? Do I just go online and cancel then rebook? If I want the same room, how long do I need to wait to try the rebook?

For background it's the Breakaway and I'm currently on deck 13, there are lots of cabins on deck 8, I wasn't sure how noisy those might be from being over the theater

    thanks for any help

Just attempted to do the same but our rate went up, so it is essentially a wash if we choose to change.

  4. No, it's one logged in session at the time. You can however use the same account from multiple devices, just not at the same time.

Thanks, know of anyway to make a phone a hotspot while in airplane mode so that it will broadcast whatever signal it has, sort of like a router would do then we could all be logged in? I know it sounds like too much connection but have multiple kids to share it.

  5. As noted, it is a one time charge for the length of the cruise, but the underlying price is based on a daily rate. On our cruise a couple of weeks ago, it was $24.99/day. You can wait to purchase until later in the day on day 2 and the full price goes down by the pro-rata daily rate. So back to your original question, the unlimited minutes will not roll over for your second cruise on a B2B.

Can we have more than 1 device logged in at a time, such as DH, DS and myself?

  6. No snorkeling at CGB...

Thanks we were just planning to hang out on a beach and was trying to clarify that we didnt care about snorkeling gear rental. We do want chairs with umbrellas so we can have shade and thats probably more important than snorkeling.

  7. Oh and the beach bar did rent snorkel masks and fins for $10 but they did sell out after about 15 pairs. If you guys do want to stop for food to take to the beach, I heard French Deli (previously known as La Baguette) is a great place to stop!

How are the chairs and umbrellas at Brewers or should we go to Cane Garden bay for the chairs. We have our own snokel gear so dont need that.

  8. We love going to Brewer's Bay Beach! :D

There's very good snorkeling from the beach and has a place for food/beverages, to rent beach chairs, and has restroom facilities.

It's lovely, quiet, and totally beautiful.

    LuLu

    Does Brewers offer free wifi?

  9. CAS = casinos at sea. If you gamble a fair amount you can get comps for cabins on future cruises make sure you use your card when playing. If you are a table player well let's say it's HUGE money you need to spend. Example.....my friend who played tables 95% of the time a small amount on slots got about 1000 points for last week. I played slots 95% of the time and a little on tables and ended with 3500 points so slot play equates to more slot points than tables. And we played about the same amount of time.

    Geri

Thanks much for the info, so is there a chart that shows what the points equal? We also go at least once to the casino but have never inserted our seapass card, is it that card or a different one?

  10. Hi Folks,

We just completed our first cruise using CAS for booking. (Breakaway May 17th)

As usual we spent far too much time (and money :) ) in the casino. We are in the process of thinking about our next cruise. I know that you don't need to wait for a CAS offer to book another cruise with them...but I am wondering if there is some timeframe before what they will offer us based on last cruise is available? Is there any lag from competing our last cruise and eligible play from it?

What is CAS? We are new to NCL and have 2 cruises booked on Getaway in the next 4 months, 1 on RCCL and are looking at a couple of others for next summer. Thanks

  11. We are staying at a hotel near the airport, I called to ask about shuttle service to the POM as we have 6 of us going and we only get 2 free on the shuttle with the room. They said use Uber to the POM and they would help with the coupon, seems like a great choice for that area and the hotel recommended so I think they can go to the POM.

  12. Been watching the port of Bermuda web Cam, and the Dawn is nowhere in sight yet.

When I checked the bridge cam, it shows her going through a rain storm. I hope that all is well.

How do you find a bridge webcam? I'd like to look for the Getaway bridge webcam.

  13. Booked ours last week for September 15 and just checked our 3-8th went from free last week to now its 50% off. I'd say book now and if you dont have a penalty for cancelling then you can do that later if you find something better. We did this about 4 months ago for a family trip in July and havent seen anything better. Book early and watch the rates and promos. We have found a couple of agencies are worse at cancellation fees than others, check around.

  14. Technically this info can be used by travel partners as soon as it is shared and is not considered a leak;) Your TA should provide you with the latest offers and policy changes asap. Here's a copy of the e-mail and take note that the 18% Gratuity/Service Charge is only on new bookings.

Thanks for the replies Kathy, we are booking for the first time with NCL and sailing in July for a family of 6 in 2 cabins. We are also taking a leap of faith and booked a girls only trip for September with NCL.

We are also already booked with RCCL in Feb 2016 and are looking to book next summer family trip as well. Now I'm trying to decide if we go with what we know and do the RCCL for next summer or if we stick with the leap of faith and book NCL for next summer. It was a hard choice to leave the megaships from RCCL for this summer but we got the UBP and some other perks so we couldnt pass up the deal and cancelled RCCL to go with NCL.

I've heard we can get personal travel consultant types with NCL but dont know how to use that service. I also heard that NCL may call or email closer to our cruise to offer upsells. We are interested in that as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I can also be reached at email suzyrn89@yahoo.com

  15. Thanks for the replies, on RCCL we didnt have to show our card just hand over our mug to be filled. I have the soda packages for the kids but hate the idea of them pulling their card out everywhere, dont want to loose that thing!

  16. No, only for Oceanview and above. The formatting in the OP is not easy to decipher, but if you search around TA websites, you can find the same details on-line.

Insides and studios choose one of the following:

    • soda package
    • $50 dining credit
    • 100 minutes Internet package
    • $50/port excursion credit

Oceanview, Balcony, and Mini-suite staterooms choose one of the following:

    • UBP
    • UDP
    • 250 minutes Internet package
    • $75/port excursion credit

Suites and Haven get all 4 of the perks in this second list.

Can you tell me which website you found this on? We booked last week and are wanting to change to this promo.

  17. On NCL how does the soda package work, do you have to use your ID or can you just walk up to the bar to get soda refills with the provided cups. We will have multiple package and Im trying to figure out how it works. We have sailed RCCI and like their soda machines. We have ultimate beverage packages for some of the adults, we will use for adult beverages but not all of us drink soda and was wondering if we could give the soda cup to one of the kids.
