  1. Looking for suggestions on what the best cooking classes to do with kids might be. My almost 11 year old and I would like to do one together. Out of the offerings, she would probably be most interested in the pizza, cake, cupcakes, or ice cream classes, but I don't know which would be the most fun and interactive for children. Has anyone done these with kids and do you have any input?

The ship MAY change to local time since all ports are Eastern time. I know many will tell you the ship never changes time, but I was on the Splendor in May and the ship changed time to match the port times. I have been on 20+ cruises over the years and most have changed time to match the port time.

I would check with the dive companies, if you haven’t already, to see if they adjust times to accommodate cruise passengers. If they have enough cruisers interested, many vendors will adjust the time.

The ships do typically change on Alaskan itineraries, but it's not as common (though not impossible) on Caribbean itineraries.

  3. Yes, it's expensive compared to typical Carnival pricing, but it isn't all that bad compared to many other 14 night vacations to rare locations and that's how I justified it. I have not personally seen any Greenland offers by other cruise lines for any less (and maybe they do exist, but either I haven't found them yet or they've all sold out already so I can't compare). We're going for our 20th anniversary, so I'm splurging more than I normally would.

I don't know what I will decide to have for dinner tomorrow.   I just can't imagine being that concerned about what you might eat two years from now 🤔

Not "concerned" at all. It is fun to me to dream about and plan my future trips. That's all.

So I walk into a car dealership and put down a deposit on a specific car that I really like. A week later the dealership calls me and says “We’ve found someone who’s willing to pay more money for the car you chose (cruise lines make a LOT more money on charters), so we’re cancelling your contract, but come on in and pick out any other car on the lot for it’s listed price. Have a nice day!”
    Fair??

Well yeah.. Because I can pick out a much more expensive car than I originally picked and pay the same price. I'd take that deal.

  6. Now that I'm booked on my first Journeys cruise, I am curious as to what the current 14 day menus look like. The only ones I can find are from 2-4 years ago so curious if anyone has any recent ones.

(I realize my cruise isn't for 2 years and things could very well change by then, but I like to look at this kind of thing while I wait lol.)

OMG... why would anyone want to go to Greenland?.  My hubby was stationed there for a year remote in AF and it was horrible... no trees, just ice and snow and dark.  Summers weren't better even though the sun was up.. he hated it and gained 30lbs since there was nothing to do but eat, work, and sleep.

Well, to be fair, we are visiting for 2 port days, not living there. Most people who have been talk about how beautiful it is.

These cabins are my new favorite.

I was in 4141 and the view was great but 4101 was totally blocked.  Both were on Pride.

Look for the little slivers between the lifeboats on the deck plans.  The bigger the sliver, the better the view!

Perfect! My cabin appears to have a similar view as 4141.

  9. I am almost ready to pay the deposit on one of the 2024 Pride Greenland cruises. Currently, I have a 4k interior obstructed view cabin on hold. Obviously, I'd prefer a balcony on this type of sailing, but it's already expensive enough so I figured I would try one of these for the first time. When selecting a cabin,  is the best strategy to try and pick one as close to being between lifeboats as possible? Wanting to make sure I made a good choice before I lock myself in.

Just booked for August 18th. We've never booked so far in advance before. Good thing I have two other cruises beforehand to keep me from going crazy. We did Europe on Pride this summer and had a fantastic time.

I agree though about all the sea days! Five in a row at the beginning. I'll have to get Cheers.

My son's school schedule for 24/25 isn't out yet, but I hope they continue with the post Labor Day start, or we will be canceling.

I have August 18 on hold right now. My kids are homeschooled so the dates don't matter (and they aren't going anyway as this is an anniversary cruise lol) but 2 weeks at the beginning of their school year does concern me anyway. They attend tutorials so they do have certain dates they need to start by.

  11. John Heald just announced 3 more Greenland cruises in 2024.

    Dates: 05/26/2024, 08/18/2024, 09/08/2024

    Sat Baltimore, MD 6:00 PM

    Sun "Fun Day" At Sea

    Mon "Fun Day" At Sea

    Tue "Fun Day" At Sea

    Wed "Fun Day" At Sea

    Thu "Fun Day" At Sea

Fri Nanortalik, Greenland 7:00 AM 6:00 PM

Sat Qaqortoq, Greenland 7:00 AM 6:00 PM

    Sun "Fun Day" At Sea

Mon St. Anthony, NL, Canada 7:00 AM 4:00 PM

Tue Corner Brook, NL, Canada 9:00 AM 5:00 PM

Wed Sydney, NS, Canada 8:00 AM 4:00 PM

    Thu "Fun Day" At Sea

    Fri "Fun Day" At Sea

    Sat Baltimore, MD 10:00 AM

That August date is tempting because our 20th anniversary is August 14, 2024. I'm just not sure about those 5 sea days at the start lol.

First there would need to be an investigation. We know the earliest he could have gone over. We really aren't sure of the latest - he could have gone over after being reported missing. There should be a good approximation of how much alcohol he was served from the bar receipts. I think obviously not a great deal of time or money is going to be spent on investigating.

We actually do have a general idea of the latest he could have gone over due to where he was found. He was found just south of the mouth of the Mississippi River. If he had gone overboard much later, he would have been further out in open ocean.

I agree with Maya Chan Beach for  an excursion.  It is my favorite excursion ever.

Maya Chan is my favorite excursion ever as well, but I'm not sure it meets the OP's criteria. If you just want a relaxing day on the beach with food and drinks included, there is nothing better. But the water tends to be murky and they definitely don't have any jet ski rentals. They do have kayaks and floats.
