i sail Friday (U.K. enchanted)

I have video tests booked for the adults in the next two days and in person for my Unvax kid.

what should I do?

yeah, it sucks if you were impacted, but stuff like this happens at resorts on land ALL the time.  planned your honeymoon for years in the maldives?  ah, a sheikh wants to have a private vacation at the resort, that week so your stay gets bumped (with compensation - maybe).  relaxing weekend at a fancy pants resort in big sur?  oh, justin and hailey bieber want to have a quiet getaway, so they're bouncing everyone, or a tech company is bumping everyone's reservations so they can have their offsite there (also with generous compensation, and that happened a TON at the alila ventana last year, some with very little notice!).  at the end of the day, it's unfortunately a calculated business decision to optimize profits.

Yeah it's a tricky for a brand new cruise line trying to earn loyalty.

Let's hope it their gamble pays off

I hope it out balances the p*ss off customers VV cancelled on, though not sure how many were booked on originally!

Anyhow, I think they did nice last night (the first episode the ship makes an appearance) on showing lots of beautiful shots of the ships and did a shoutout to VV.

 

We can’t predict whether this will drive more bookings, but the average demographic who watches the show is definitely who VV wants to market to, so this probably makes a lot of sense to them. I’m just not sure that demographic wants to cruise as much sadly.

That's the whole conundrum behind VV are they after the wrong market

That's cool- is the ship prominently featured thru the whole series? 

The big TV show is now airing - do people think it will drive more customers to VV (or put off?)

I don't really follow those shows but I know they are huge!

Yes, it's clear the cruise lines are struggling to fill some ships as I've seen lines ditching solo supplement which I've never seen before- Celeb, P&O and a few others

The depts rather have anyone onboard than no one on board so I think they're well aware couples might book two solo rooms etc which is why they've never really done great solo deals until recently. Good deal if u can get it!

I'm not sure tbh, it was just what the rep told me over the phone- he did say it could change and is dependent on the actual port/country you go to. Also he's a child so not sure if that makes a diff. It's a short cruise so we're fine if he's not allowed off in any case

Yes good point about the strike.

Trains from London leave from: Waterloo/Clapham Junction (also East Croydon) so if you make sure you can easily get to one of these via transport or otherwise you'll be good.

It's about 1.5-2 hours from London depending on when/where from etc

That's cool- each to their own. I know a lot of tunes from 5 skies which is why I like it - they're from my prime. They are edgier and flashier and I did wonder if it appealed to the more traditional cruise audience...

Thanks all! Princess called as he's 8 he doesn't need an exemption, he just needs an observed PCR test (home or in person), then a $60 test in Southampton

He should be allowed off in ports with maybe a $10 test.

I feel the exact same way.  In fact in 135 cruises on a huge variety of ships and cruise lines, the Edge Class is at the very top of my all-time favorites list.  I was also blown away by the overall design and most of all the attention to detail.  It’s elevated without question.  I much prefer it over the S-Class.

I did a mini cruise and it felt like formal night and they had the big show - I love it!

I've done a lot of Solstice class ships so when Edge class ships were announced, I couldn't wait to try.

The reviews of the Edge have been good, but not amazing.

I just tried the Edge for myself and was blown away. By far and away my fave ship- stunning, luxury, it's clear the billion dollars they spent went into it.

Wondered why (other than the not great infinite balconies) people didn't like it!

LV insurance - £150 per port

Needed letter of proof from cruisline (they delivered one to each cabin)
And proof of invoice/itinerary

Just got off Rome- Barca cruise. STUNNING ship

Don't think it was anywhere near capacity (maybe 1500-2000?)

Quite a few kids and lots of large groups/families from across the world

I think they'll only do something if you self report

Magic carpet was used as a bar but was also used as a tender boarding as a few med ports needed it.
