3Travelers Posted January 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2018 Anyone that requested distilled water for medical reasons - did you get an actual sealed container labeled distilled water or just a pitcher with water and told it was distilled. We absolutely must have distilled water (not for CPap) and only feel comfortable using water in a sealed and labeled container to avoid a health problem. Any feedback from people on recent Seaside cruises - help!!!
BoBandy Posted January 24, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2018 They served bottled water at dinner. You had your choice of sparkling or distilled. And we found that you could get bottled distilled water at any of the bars. Took a bottle back to our room nightly.

It was a choice of sparkling or "still" or with gas or no gas. I did see a small bottle hand labeled "distilled" being delivered by a cabin attendant. chengkp75 Posted January 24, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2018 I would be very surprised if the water served at the dining venues was "distilled". Same with bottles of water from bars, both would be "still" water (no bubbles). Ship's water is from three sources: one is municipal water loaded in ports, if the ship's itinerary demands it. The other two are produced onboard, either from a flash evaporator, which generates distilled water, or an RO filter that makes fresh water from sea water. Generally, all water used onboard is a blend of the three sources. Now, while most cruise lines will supply you with bottled distilled water for medical reasons, if this is for all drinking puposes, I don't know if they will supply that much water, even with a charge. One thing you can do, is to befriend your cabin steward (a Jackson goes a long way), and he/she will usually have a friend in the engineering department, who can refill your distilled water jug directly from the outlet of the evaporator while at sea. This is even better than bottled distilled water, as it has not sat around in the plastic container absorbing polyorganics, it is fresh from the distiller. Not sure what health issues you are worried about with ship's water.
