islegroove Posted July 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 11, 2014 The Tourism Authority is going to try to recruit the cruise lines to reposition some ships IF Bermuda hosts the America's Cup as a way to get more visitors here for the event. Aida is one of the lines they are talking with. http://www.bermudasun.bm/Content/NEWS/News/Article/Pitch-to-cruise-lines-for-America-s-Cup/24/270/79083
Rare steamboats Posted July 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2014 There´s nothing mentioned about AIDA in this article. It´s only mentioned that they are talking to cruise lines in US, UK and Germany. There are more German cruise lines and not just AIDA ;). steamboats
islegroove Posted July 11, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted July 11, 2014 It's near the bottom "Mr Hanbury said that would be a better fit for Bermuda rather than the mega ships. He said some of the lines the BTA will be talking with would be Silver Seas, Oceania, Viking, and Aida."
Rare steamboats Posted July 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2014 Thanks! I overread this. I wonder how AIDA will fit into that "non mega ship" thing. AIDA has the largest ships compared to the other companies mentioned. The smallest, AIDAcara, has a double occupancy of 1,180 passengers. The AIDAvita/AIDAaura have a double occupancy of 1,266. The newer ones are even bigger. AIDA is a mass market company, the others are more small ships and on the luxury side. steamboats
