drega99 Posted October 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2017 Looking for some advice please. We are flying into LGA on Saturday October 21 and need transportation to the NCL Gem at Manhattan cruise terminal. I have been reading alot about construction and to avoid taxis. Any recommendations for private car transfers? We are a family of 3 and are landing at 1100am. :) Thanks in advance!!

Rare mking8288 Posted October 15, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2017 OP, wish you the best of luck & smooth flight into LGA next weekend. A few comments to hopefully ease some of your concerns: Airport congestion lately hasn't been a problem, except yesterday morning with a security incident, totally unrelated that disrupted departures but also arrival. If you are flying Air Canada into Terminal B or Central T - you will likely need to retrieve your checked luggage downstairs at Arrival's carousal, they are usually quick & get them offloaded & ready for pickup in less than 15 minutes. You can call or book Dial7 or Carmel at that point, both service has their own "base" or garage off the airport and will be there in less than 10 minutes, faster than you can get to the pickup area for FHV (For Hired Vehicles) - there is a free Mobile App for that (airport has free WiFi at all terminals) - it will help if you have roaming enabled from your Canada carrier to use in the U.S. for calls & texting. Your total transfer time from curbside @ terminal to MCT - Pier 88 most likely is about 1 hour. Find & follow signage outside to the free Green airport shuttle route, to take you on a 5 minute ride to the pickup lot, where there are plenty of greeters to help, to meet your car service/driver at the parking stalls. http://laguardiaairport.com/traveladvisories/ The most direct route to cruise terminal/ship around 12 noon is probably out to the Grand Central Pkwy, across the cashless toll - RFK Bridge into Manhattan - possibly across town 126th Street (local) with traffic lights thru historic Harlem streets, then, down the Henry Hudson/West Side Hwy direct to the pier. Be sure to let the driver know that you wish for the fastest route - toll will be $8.50 in cash/$5.74 if he only collect the discounted EZ-Pass rate - fare rates for a 4 door sedan is about $40 to $45 plus toll + tipping. If all goes well & smooth, you will be curbside at the pier by 1 PM, porters are right outside to take checked luggage - lines should be gone, just walk inside - past security & straight ahead to get checked in. Good luck & safe sailing.
drega99 Posted October 15, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted October 15, 2017 (edited) Thanks for the info! We are actually flying on Westjet and will be arriving into Terminal D at LGA. Hope that doesn't make much of a difference? Edited October 15, 2017 by drega99 spelling error
