Tours to Bangkok and Pattaya

For anyone who has done cruise tours to any of the Thai temples such as the Grand Palace and the Sanctuary of Truth, do these tours require you to be involved in any way in any religious ceremonies? Are you required to do anything connected to their religious beliefs, or are you purely an observer?
