How easy is it to see bears at Kodiak?

On a bear watching tour (fly-in), great chance. You need to go to the right location depending on when you arrive.

 

On the road system, much lower chance, but the chance increases the later in the summer that you go.

 

Thanks. On Holland America, I did not see a fly in excursion listed. Is there a better cruise line in this regard?

Andrews Airways is who I recommend in Kodiak. Dean is a master. If he's not available, Roland at Seahawk Air is my #2 choice.

Here is a very good link about the Maasdam trip from early Sept where she saw black bears in Ketch road trip and the fly in to see Brown bears from Kodiak. She did note that the pilot said her trip was only the second one all summer that made it to see the bears because of the weather.
