Dublin Green HOHO bus- what time to buy tickets for Kilmainham Gaol

we plan on using the green HOHO bus for an overview of the city but also in getting to some of the less walkable sights while in Dublin. We will be getting on at the custom house quay stop. I am planning on pre-purchasing the timed tickets for the Gaol and would appreciate it if anyone who has done it can give me an estimate of the time from there or mcconnell st to the gaol. I have reviewed the route but dont have a feel for the time involved.
