JAKARTA- what can we see there?

We will be 1 day in Jakarta? Just trying to find out what we can do all day long. we will get a taxi for the 4 of us.

This was one port that we stayed on the ship. Traffic was horrible, there was a yellow haze of air pollution, the port is located on the edge of a slum. On the cruise we were on, they did have a shuttle to a shopping mall which was about one hour away because of traffic.. I would only go on a ship's tour in Jakarta.

We had a wonderful tour in Jakarta last month. Our group of four had a lovely English speaking guide, driver, comfortable car for $45pp including bottled water and admission fees.

We visited the National Monument; Istiqlal Grand Mosque; Jakarta Cathedral: Chandranaya Old Chinese House; Fatahillah Square and Sunda Kelapa Old Harbour.

The traffic was busy but not as bad as we were led to believe and our driver was skilful in finding ways through to avoid the worst of it. From our experience, it would have been a huge opportunity missed to stay on the ship.
