davecttr Posted October 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2017 I have an appointment with my TA this afternoon and I wanted to book a Jan 18 7 night cruise on Dream. I have just checked on the website. For 7 nights on 26 Jan they want £1147, that is equivalent to a 70% single supplement. foe 2 weeks it rises to 77% for a January cruise on Discovery in the Caribbean the mark up is 21% but I don't want to be flying that distance It is enough to make you spit :mad::mad: They won't be getting my business at those prices
davecttr Posted October 26, 2017 Author #2 Share Posted October 26, 2017 Doh! this idiot put the wrong year into the browser. Just returned from the TA and the single supplement equivalent is still 40% :o:o:o
bridmo Posted October 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2017 I can never understand why the solo price is so expensive when you are in a single cabin ? I can understand under occupancy if you have a twin room but I priced up a transatlantic March 2019 it was only £800 less than two people So wrong
davecttr Posted October 28, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted October 28, 2017 Well it is not a single cabin it is a double cabin designated for single occupancy with a reasonable 'supplement' of about 40%. I am used to paying up to 70% with P&O. the reason solo cruisers don't get half price is simple. They don't spend as much money as a couple occupying the same space. On some cruise lines you pay the same price as a couple, just like a hotel room.
