SouthShoreShall Posted December 29, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2017 I've been told that the casino at Port Lucaya has shutdown. Also, that the beach behind it is now only for people staying at the local hotels and they try to run everyone else off. Finally, I've been told that the Port Lucaya shopping area is getting run down. Anyone been there recently who know's what is actually going on? Rare mskaufman Posted January 17, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2018 We were there in late December. Our tour guide told us that the hotel and casino never reopened after Hurricane Matthew (?). We did go to a shopping area across from the hotel that seemed fine.
Weluv2vaycay Posted March 27, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2018 Anyone know about beach access here at Lucaya? Is there still free beach access by the police station or is it only pay for a hotel day pass? Is the Grand Lucayan open post-hurricane? Anyone been here in 2018? Thanks! 8wotw Posted April 3, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 3, 2018 We were there last month, and instead of going to the resort, we took a taxi abut 20 minutes from the port to Cleveland's Beach Club. It doesn't look like much, in fact we call it our favorite Bahamas Dive Bar, but it is on the beach, the 5 children in our group pretty much had the whole beach to themselves, the beer was cold, the food was great - best conch fritters EVER! Cleveland and Millie were great hosts, and it was pretty much locals and a couple of people who came from the nearby hotel. There is a facebook page for it.
