Distance between Portage Glacier and Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

I was going to the Wildlife Conservation Center and researched a little more and found out I should go to Portage Glacier. How long does it take to get form one place to the other? Also is there a perference as to which place to visit first. I have two children 11 and 5.

It's only 6 miles between the 2 places.

There is some good hiking around Portage glacier, the boat tour, is a cheap glacier look, but definately a pass if short on time. The Visitor Center, in my opinion is the reason to stop. They also run some ranger programs, so if you have time, check the schedule. Go in the order you come up them.

They also show a wonderful short mvie at the visitor center for $1 a head and the food at th Day Lodge was not outrageous and decent

the wilderness center building is under construction so the facilities were prota potties but still worth the visit----great up close looks at the animals
