Bahamas Cruise travel after Hurricane Matthew

Hi,

I am planning to take a Bahamas Cruise travel for end of November. Can anyone comment on the current status of Bahamas and other nearby islands after recent hurricanes. Is it advised to travel or to plan for a later dates ?

it appears that nassau and most of the private islands in the bahamas are operating as normal ( with the possible exception of ( NCL private island)

Freeport port and harbour is currently closed with lots of damage and no projected opening date set as yet.

Going on Grandeur of the Seas in 10 days and supposed to go to Grand Bahama Island and we got no word of Freeport being closed... do you think they will surprise us?

They will most likely notify you a few days before your cruise the change in itinerary.

We sail on Sunday from Baltimore on Carnival & were advised via official email today the Freeport is now open for business & our planned stop at Freeport in 11/11/16 is on schedule. Hope this info helps. We were planning on a ship sponsored excursion to Lucas Resort, but their website has the resort still "offline & not accepting reservations"- so I guess that's off the table for now.

Thanks for the info. Someone from my roll call just said it was going to be open for cruise ships next week, our day there will be the 16th. I just hope Freeport isn't a big mess. Have a great cruise!

Word is out from someone from our roll call who is on the ship now...our scheduled stop for Grand Bahamas on Nov 16th has changed...we will go to Key West.
