Maui & Kona questions tender question

Has anyone tendered at Lahaina, Maui & Kailua Kona? Is there a high step up from the tender to the dock?

Which ship or cruise line?

We were in both ports in 2003 with Holland America. Using their tender lift and ramps on shore, there was no step at all, but keep in mind that they require ALL OTHER passengers get off first before they will usually employ the tender lift. This would have resulted in us getting off the ship only after 1100 in Lahaina (8AM first tenders). We caused a stink as we had reservations for a rental car and a drive to Hana ahead of us. They finally let us off at 0930. Similar problem in Kona. The actual transfer went well though.

On Crystal the crew lifted the manual wheelchair with my mother sitting in it on and off the tender from the tender platform and also onto th dock. Again...no steps. Both docks are ramped once you are off the tender.
