La Romana - Getting to Catalina without Excursion

We will be on the Vista in January 2018 and stopping for a day in La Romana, We have decided we want to spend most of our time in Catalina snorkeling. We have our own snorkel gear and want to spend more than 2 hours snorkeling there; thus, we don't want to book an excursion in order to maximize our time there, and also to save money, as an excursion for a family of 4 is quite expensive. Is it possible to get to Catalina from Bayahibe via water taxi?

I cannot answer that, but I would think you would leave from Casa De Campo rather than Bayahibe as the beach on Catalina is a popular destination for folks from CDC. But I would post that question on the La Romana forum on trip advisor, the destination experts there should be able to help. Denise (demi56) is very knowledgeable of the area. She and Kaki are also DE’s on the Bayahibe forum and you can pose your question there if no reply on the LR forum.
