Your Thoughts - Infinity 5 Day Cruise & Nightlife on Celebrity in General Pls

DH & I have a final week of vacation to fill early December this year. I stumbled across a five day sailing on the Infinity with nice sale perks/price this morning. Would be flying in a day or two prior to FLL

We really enjoyed sailing our first cruise on Celebrity on the Summit out of San Juan. Sweet sixteen balcony, ahhh, amazing. The food was great, as was the service and the overall bump in elegance was a nice surprise:).

My only issue was that the crowd was rather sedate & sparse. Normally, nothing I’d complain about, a novelty to not feel crowded on a ship! However, there was little in way of night life most nights, even the shows were sparsely attended. Had expected with the drink packages the various bars would be humming.

I’m told Celebrity attracts an older demographic. We surely aren’t spring chickens, nor act Iike spring breakers, but do enjoy being able to enjoy a lively environment if the mood strikes us.:halo:

Not sure if our cruise, being so port intensive, just experienced a boat-load of folks retiring early most evenings. Thinking this abbreviated itinerary (costa Maya & Cozumel) might attract a slightly different crowd? Perhaps a double-edged sword lol as it’s a kids-free trip for us and I’m hoping to avoid school break chaos.

My 2nd question concerns the wisdom of initially booking an OV in lieu of a balcony, which is our norm.

Since this is a bonus trip of sorts & shorter, think I’d be fine with OV for shorter cruise. The difference is nearly $100 a day, not sure if that’s an average jump for Celebrity or not.

If I book directly with Celebrity, is it unrealistic to think I could possibly upgrade to a balcony as the date gets closer, either pre or post final payment if rates drop?

Do have concerns we would lose our perks (drink pkg & $300 OBC) if I do upgrade? Not sure how Celebrity handles that. They do seem to run the drink offer often, if not always, not sure re the OBC offer.

TIA

We will be on Celebrity this fall, 5 nights. First time Celebrity. Long time Royal cruiser, but I don't want to do all that "Biggest Shopping Mall of the Seas" kinda trip. In my experience the shorter the trip the more lively it is. We were thinking about a B2B but we have an old dog and don't want to leave her too long. We are same as you not spring breakers but no spring chickens either. Check out your roll call or celebrity connections you should get a feel about the people going with you. Good Luck to You!

Tia: Would agree with other posters! Usually younger crowd on 4-5 day cruises even on Celebrity. I would not worry about it with a night club, house bands, shows, and casino.

Curious what is the date you are thinking of sailing in December?

I’m still considering a five day on 12/17 on Infinity. Goes to Cozumel & Key West. Thinking i’ll Wait until SWA releases their schedule that covers return flight on 12/22. Not sure how high the fare would be that close to Xmas, usually travel after the holidays.
