Weather on transatlantic crossing in october

Hello all:

We are going on the October 11th transatlantic crossing on the QM2. What is the weather like that time of year? I need some packing advise!

It's right in the middle of hurricane season... I will be sailing QM2 in a little over 3 weeks, and plan on it being very windy out on deck or on my balcony. Definitely am going to pack some decent windgear.

June 5th - Queen Mary 2 Westbound Transatlantic

November 22nd - Sun Princess Eastern Caribbean

I will see you on deck. We will be ones bracing ourselves against the wind and looking for a sheltered spot. Everybody else will be sensibly inside.

Although, as another poster pointed out, October is right in the middle of hurricane season, we crossed on the QE2 in October 2002 and had fine weather and calm seas. The North Atlantic is truly a crap shoot when it comes to weather and sea conditions.

Yes the North Atlantic is truly unpredictable. Hurricanes don't often get up that far into the North Atlantic either, but again, you never know!

I was on last year's Oct 1 crossing on QE2. I didn't even go out on deck the first 3 days because it was rainy and cold. Of course, this was my second trip and I had spent a lot of time outside on the last one.

I mostly enjoyed a seat inside along the windows with my feet up against the window, reading a good book and the view.

Temps were in the 50s and 60s but of course is it always windy out side on a fast ship. Bring a fairly warm jacket with a rain hood and layer a sweatshirt under it. If you are lucky, you will not need it.

I AM LEAVING ON THE QM2 ON JULY 22, FROM LONDON TO NEW YORK- SHOULD I EXPECT A WEEK AT SEA TO BE FAIRLY WARM? THIS IS OBVIOUSLY OUR SUMMER, BUT AT SEA I AM NOT SURE!!!

Wind will be the biggest culprit out in the middle of nowhere. If we get some sunny days out there, it could be decent to spend some fun time out on deck, but expect the winds to be pretty agressive.

Yes true, I would certainly expect most folks to be hiding safely inside. I'll be up on deck though, leaning into the wind.

I'm getting excited now, as my documents are being delivered Tuesday! I booked this last July, so I've had a while to look forward to this. I expect it's going to be a lot of fun.

My tickets arrived on Friday. I am certainly getting excited. I have been booked for almost two years and it seems like a lifetime following the construction and maiden voyages.
