River cruise

We are looking at doing a river cruise next year. We get brochures from Viking Cruises weekly and were wondering what other river cruise lines are out there and the pros and cons on the different river cruise lines.

Many people enjoy sailing on Viking. However, we have been using Vantage and are very happy with them. Other lines are Tauck, AMA Waterways, Uniworld. Take a look at what each has to offer as far as air, transfers, tours, and other amenities. You almost have to make a spreadsheet.

We've sailed with Viking, Grand Circle and Vantage. I would not hesitate to recommend any of those 3. From what I''ve heard and/or read about other lines, it appears they all do an outstanding job. I think I would book any of them based on itinerary, date, price, availability.

I've sailed with AMA and Scenic and would highly recommend either. Look at the itineraries and the included tours before making your decision with any of the lines. Avalon is also a good line.

We narrowed it down to Avalon and AMA, which are similar. We ended up taking AMA and liked it very much.
