rjsretired Posted January 31, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2018 We are arriving a day early for a cruise out of Vancouver. Should we stay at the airport or the cruise port. Everything seems very expensive. We will not be doing any sight seeing
Straitlover Posted January 31, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2018 If you're not sightseeing, I say get a room near the airport. Next day, take the Sky Train/cab/cruiseline transfer (whichever you prefer) to Canada place.

Straitlover Posted January 31, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2018 Lots of people her recommend the YWCA in downtown. Check to see if that's available. The Holiday In Express, Accent Inns and Holiday Inn near the airport have good reviews on Booking.com and are a decent price on 6/9/18 (just picked a date because I didn't know when you needed the room). Rare martincath Posted February 1, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 1, 2018 Have to say that I'm stunned anyone would come to Vancouver but NOT want to sightsee. If budget is tight we have a metric buttload of free stuff - the biggest tourist draw in the city (Stanley Park) doesn't cost a penny, and it's far from the only good free option. It is mostly outdoorsy stuff, but there are some very reasonable (<US$10) museums and other indoor things in case the weather is being uncooperative. Just really seems like a waste to just sit around your hotel after flying all the way up here, even if your main reason for coming in early is just being careful not to miss your cruise! If you can lock in a YWCA Hotel room you're golden - already downtown, easy to walk anywhere - but if not and an airport hotel is the most affordable spot left, two SkyTrain tickets will cost as little as CAD$3.70pp to take you downtown and back (depends on day, time, your age - but worst possible case is $4.10pp each way). Airport hotel shuttles can be asked to drop you at a Skytrain station if your hotel isn't close enough to just walk, and coming back just go all the way back to the airport to get your free hotel shuttle again. rjsretired Posted February 1, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted February 1, 2018 Love Vancouver. Have been there two times for extended stays. Just do not have the time now. I did find a Ramada near the airport ...
