BuzzBuzzard Posted June 26, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2004 I'm sure this has been asked before, but can't find anything quickly. What's the best way to get from the airport in Rome to Civitavecchia? Train? There looks to be no train direct from the airport and not sure changing trains with all the luggage is what I want to do. The cruise lines price gouge the ship transfers. What about private cars? Are they reasonably priced and accessible? Any and all suggestions welcome. Thanks for the help! Aussie Gal Posted June 27, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 27, 2004 The easiest way from the airport to the port is to use a taxi. We have done this and it is very reasonable. We have also used a limousine when we went from the port to the airport last year and it was very comfortable. It cost us $120US last year. A taxi would be a lot cheaper. Sominex Posted June 27, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 27, 2004 We arrived at the Rome airport last October and took the train, non-stop to the downtown Termini Station for 8Euros each; it was a breeze. merapi Posted June 28, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 28, 2004 We were going to take a taxi from the port back to the airport, but when we had to disembark at 6.15 am and our flight was not until 3.40 pm, we used the trains. The shuttle bus dropped us at the entrance to the port; then it was a 20 minute walk to the station. Cost for a train to Termini and then another train to the airport was only about 9 euros each. If you have plenty of time, this is an inexpensive alternative, although it does involve more hassles with luggage than a car.

lorideco Posted July 13, 2004 #12 Share Posted July 13, 2004 Does anyone how far is the Airport from the pier. I want to know if I have enough time to make a 12:00 flight.
Aussie Gal Posted July 13, 2004 #13 Share Posted July 13, 2004 You can do it if you organize your limousine to pick you up at the pier around 8am -8.30am. It is normally a 45-50 minute trip. Our flight last year was at 12.30pm and we had organized to be picked up at 9am. Luckily our driver was early and came at 8.30am. On the way to the airport there was a traffic holdup of over 45 minutes. We arrived at the airport at 10.30am with still time to spare. If we had left at 9am, we would have been in trouble. Just allow plenty of time for things to go wrong and you will be fine. Jennie

daycruiser Posted July 30, 2004 #15 Share Posted July 30, 2004 Two years ago we used driver in Rome and we've been very pleased with them. The website is www.driverinrome.com. They also do tours. I don't remember the name of our driver but he was really nice and who turned out to be a wonderful guide. Later we met a family who had a bad experience with someone who claimed to be taxi driver ! They said this guy came to them while they were still IN the airport.
