Acapulco city tour.

Visiting Acapulco on an upcoming cruise, would appreciate any input from those in the know regarding a comparison between an Acapulco City Tour organized through Rudy Fregoso and one offered by the cruise line.

On a previous cruise we went with Mazatlan Frank and were very pleased with the tour and are looking for a similar experience.

I can attest to how great Rudy is. My husband and I spent an entire day on tour with him and we were THRILLED! He is exceptionally polite, well-informed and converses effortlessly. My hubby and I are both sociologist so we were very interested in specific cultural site. Rudy was most accommodating and took us where we wanted to go. We had a fabulous day with him and I hve sent several friends his way. Clearly he is head and shoulders above anything the cruise line can offer! His price is better and you will have an outstanding time. Rudy was waiting for us right where the ship docked with a sign with our name on it. He was so much fun to be with that we hated for our day to end. I will see him again when we return there in March 2011.

We took a tour with Rudy last January and were very pleased with his services. There were eight of us in the van. Rudy was there to meet us at the pier with a sign - very easy to find him. He took us to some places that the large bus that the ship excursion uses could not go to. We saw a lot of the sights, including the cliff divers, had lunch at a restaurant by the beach and he had us back to the ship in plenty of time. He was very knowledgeable about Acapulco and could answer any questions we might have. I would definitely recommend him.

Hubby and I wanted to make sure we got the best tour and the best value for money, so we shopped around on Cruise Critic and decided on Rudy's Acapulco tour. We were rapt! Enjoy your cruise!

We contacted Rudy at Tour by Van 7 weeks before our one-day cruise stop in Acapulco.

Within 24 hours we had received a reply email from Rudy promising us a private, comprehensive, personalised and professional tour and boy did he deliver!

We chose to visit most of the "usual" touristy spots including the Cliff Divers, the Chapel of Peace, Fort of San Diego and more.

Rudy was waiting for us on the pier when we arrived and he ushered us to his spacious, clean, comfortable and air-conditioned van.

Jose was our driver for the day and we were also fortunate to have Rudy himself in our van, sharing his passion for his city with us. These guys were FANTASTIC.

They were both so knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about what they do, and both spoke good English.

The tour was much better than I could have imagined. We got to see all the attractions that we had specified, and we had lunch break at a great restaurant that Rudy had suggested - the lunch was at our own expense - otherwise everything including attraction entrance fees was included in the tour cost of a mere $45 each!.

The van was stocked with plenty of iced water and towelettes for the 7 of us.

There had been some recent negative media about Acapulco but not once did we feel unsafe. Quite the contrary. This is a beautiful city to be explored and there's no safer way than to explore it with experienced locals.

We give Rudy and the other guides 10 out of 10. We would strongly recommend Tour By Van to anyone.

We used Rudy earlier this year. We set up airport pick up, a tour the next day, and then drop off at the pier for our cruise. Rudy was right on time holding a sign at the airport. We had a different guide the next day and he was also wonderful. We saw so many sites for an excellent price. Rudy called during the tour to make sure we were having a great time. I can definitely recommend Rudy and will use his services again nxt time we are in Acapulco

Our group had a wonderful city tour in Acapulco with Rudy, Tours by Van last March and I would highly recommend his services. Our tour was tailored to exactly what we wanted, and our tour guide, Jose, made sure we saw all the highlights, including a lunch stop at a cafe on the beach. Rudy himself was committed to another tour group that day, however, he showed up along our route a few times during the course of the day to make sure we were doing well and happy with our tour.

Do not hesitate to book your tour with Rudy. He's a lovely person and an excellent tour operator.

I found Rudy through the internet. Sent him a message and he came back to me immediately. We booked a tour without any advanced payments. He and his crew were waiting for us at the entrance. We had a tour of about 6 hours and seen many sites of Acapulco. They take you to places where there is no access to buses and show you not only the touristic spots. They don't take you shopping unless you ask for and everything is smooth and in good atmosphere. I don't like the organized ship shore excursions and Tour by Van is an excellent solution. Prices are very reasonable and you have the luxury of a private tour. I recommend Rudy and his company to everybody.

We used RUDY on our Acapulco tour last January. We had a great time. He was at the port when we walked off the ship, gathered us immediately and we had an excellent time. We saw everything we requested and more. It was a rainy day, but it didn't diminish the good time we had and the wonderful information we received from our tour guide. We highly recommend Rudy for Acapulco tours! (We rarely do ships tours - too crowded and too expensive!)

Hi and my husband and I did the tour with Rudy. We were on a Carnival cruise and booked with Rudy separately. We had a wonderful time. We were met outside the boat just as we were told and had a marvelous tour. He took us to see every single thing we wanted (and even to an upscale store for some authentic Cuban cigars). The water-front restaurant we went to was superb...casual and traditional food, great locale. He helped us with shopping for souvenirs and we saw many areas of the town no other tour would have taken us to. I have highly recommended Rudy to my mom and aunt and would highly recommend his service to you. :)

We toured with Rudy's company in March and it was wonderful. We were able to work with him in advance for all of the venues we wanted to see and he also suggested others. The day was superb and I would highly recommend his services. It was probably the best tour we have arranged in all of our years of cruising.

I found Rudy after reading recommendations on Crusie Critic. I wrote to him and he contacted me back right away. We arranged a tour of Acapulco. Although he did not drive the van he did meet us right where he said he would when we disembarked the ship; he joined up again with us in the afternoon. We took pictures and he asked us how our tour was going. I believe our van driver and tour guide was Hector. We were two and had a private tour. It just turned out that way. He took us all over from the beach to high up in the hills. We had a great view of the cliff divers and a nice lunch. It was Jan 6 and we went to part of a Mass for the three kings at a beautiful church in the plaza. There was plenty of time for shopping and a free Margarita.

The whole day was totally professional. He met us right where he said he would meet us and got us back to the ship (Norwegian Star) in plenty of time for extra souvenir shopping in the ship terminal.

I recommend Rudy and Tour by Van. Since coming home I have found Rudy on Facebook and enjoy the updates he posts.

I've never done a tour through the cruise line so I can't offer a comparison between the two. However, we used Rudy's services last November and I think you will be quite happy if you decide to book a tour with him. Enjoy Acapulco!

I can only echo what everyone else has said about Rudy as far as the tour is concerned - we have been to Acapulco two other times, and, frankly, didn't much like it, but gained a whole new appreciation for the area after our tour with Rudy. What I'd also like to add, though, is that Rudy is the most honest guy around and the most accomodating - we left a small but pricey bit of my husband's photographic equipment in the van and didn't realize until we were back on board that it was missing. A frantic phone call to Rudy's cell and he dropped everything else he was doing, found the item wedged in the seat, and came back to the port to return it to us. After all that, he didn't want to accept the tip we gave him! Go with Rudy - you won't regret it.

Rudy was the best! We were there in March of 2009. Communication with Rudy is fantastic. He will make sure you are informed from the time you book until the time you leave one of his vans. Rudy met us at the pier and sent us off with one of his tour guides since he was previously booked. Our guide was fantastic and we met up with Rudy several times during our tour. Any request that we had was accomodated without hesitation. We were a group of three families travelling with our children (6 adults and 6 kids ages 7-9) and we rented the entire van for the day. This is the only way to go.!!! I have done both organized trips through the ship and with private companies. I much prefer private tour operators as you can customize your trip to your individual needs. Please feel free to ask me any questions or email me privately. :):):)

We booked with Rudy in March of this year and had a great tour. He is very prompt when answering questions via email. While Rudy himself was escorting another group, the guide we had was very friendly and informative. We encountered Rudy several times throughout the day and he was always sure to ask how things were going. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I totally agree with the comments posted . Rudy`s company is Honest ,Trustworthy and professional,anyone booking a tour will have a truly wonderful experiance of the sights and sounds of Acapulco. Having toured with Rudy i can honestly say i wouldn`t hesitate in booking another tour with him or recommending his services. You can`t go wrong -- he`s an outstanding tour guide.I`m from the UK and i think his spoken English is better than mine!!

Just wanted to relate our past experience with Rudy and Tour By Van in Acapulco.

Rudy met us at the pier himself and introduced us to our Driver/Guide -Sergio. Very professional and reassuring I must say.

They went out of their way to make sure I got to do what I wanted. I have always been interested in turtles and when I found out I could release a sea turtle while in Acapulco I desperately wanted to do that. But the normal time is evening. Well Rudy and Sergio made sure I got to do the release in the morning. I was very impressed and had a little private ceremony ourselves:) Of course it helped that is was cloudy that day.

I must say Sergio knew ACA like the back of his hand and by the end of our 5 hour tour he was like a friend showing us his "home town". We got to see and do more than we expected.

No worries with Rudy for sure.

BTW I dont work for Rudy and didnt get any consideration for giving this review. I was a little concerned about doing an independent tour and not with the ship so wanted to let anyone else who has the same concerns know our experience.

I booked my family group of 8 with Rudy for our November cruise. We had Sergio for a guide and he did an excelent job showing us everything we wanted to see. We were not interested in shopping or eating so we saw all of the highlights of Acapulco and ended with the cliff divers, what a wonderful day.

We were on Rudy's tour in Acapulco and it was excellent. Everything operated smoothly, tour guide was excellent - very informative about a range of topics and gave us a good sense of life in Acapulco, vehicles clean and comfortable, and everything happened without a hitch. We give Rudy and his team our highest recommendation and would look forward to a tour with him again in the future.

We took a tour in French:) with Rudy to visit Acapulco. The central market, la Quebrada, chapel of peace, Cabana restaurant and more. It was wonderful. You can trust Rudy for all. He took pictures of us during the tour and send us. Thank you, Rudy, Jose and our driver
