artistcleveland Posted July 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2017 we booked 18 mos ago while onboard due to usual enticements. Balance due soon. Reading The Path Between the Seas and getting more concerned about weather late oct- early November. Anyone with personal experience this time of year? Going Fla to Cal. Are we crazy to go then? Rare Murray's Pop Posted July 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2017 we booked 18 mos ago while onboard due to usual enticements. Balance due soon. Reading The Path Between the Seas and getting more concerned about weather late oct- early November. Anyone with personal experience this time of year? Going Fla to Cal. Are we crazy to go then? We did Panama Canal at the first of October a few years ago on HAL (Seattle to New York, 23 days) and had a great trip. Yes it is hot, but then again it is hot all year round. We are doing the Canal again this year on Princess in mid to late October (LA to FLL) so we may be crazy as well!

Rare Murray's Pop Posted July 19, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 19, 2017 Thanks murrays pop. Did rain interfere with excursions, lock experience? It rained briefly 1 day in Costa Rica, but really did not interfere with our excursion (river cruise through rain forrest). No rain going through Canal. BillB48 Posted July 19, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 19, 2017 My last three Canal transits have been in the late Oct early Nov... on one transit there was a brief shower as we crossed Miraflores Lake traveling towards Pedro Miguel Locks. The down side there was it made the lines at the buffet rather long! However it really cleared out all the prime viewing spots and did not place much of damper on the day. Usually the rain in the Canal area is more of the shower type rain and not an all day event.
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 7, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 7, 2017 Greater chance for rain. But you never know. Have a great time on the cruise. Keith
TOURMAN857 Posted August 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 15, 2017 Hurricane season officially runs through November 1st, so there IS a risk when you go through the Caribbean that time of the year, but in the Canal area you will be too far South to encounter Hurricanes. If you are getting a good deal, that is one of the reasons why, but I say "go for it".
