Question about booking a retreat cabana

Are you able to book a cabana for a day or two over the phone before your trip?

I tried to do so today, (my first time ever calling HAL) and was told, after being put on hold for a while, that I was only able to book while on board for my particular sailing. Does that seem right?

I tried to spend a bit with HAL today and failed.

That's correct. You may only book cabanas for the duration of the cruise, in advance.

If you wish to book a cabana for a day or 2 (or any duration less than the full cruise) you MAY be able to on board, if any are available.

Yep...frequently discussed here. Daily rentals can only be booked onboard. Full cruise rentals can be booked in advance.
